Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom-
This was my second stay at Sintya and I was welcomed back by Made and the family. It's a comfortable, clean homestay in a quiet area of Ubud. The location is excellent for Yoga Barn (around 2 minutes walk) and is close to restaurants, cafes, the supermarket and walking distance to the main area around the palace. Having a fridge in the room and a kitchen to self cater is a real bonus. Overall a very comfortable stay and I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

MacaoThe room looked simple, but it was really clean. The bed was really comfortable and the aircon was working well. Each room has a private kitchen next door, too. The place is right next to yogabarn, so it's super convenient if that's what you're looking for.

New ZealandNo water coming out the hot tap for a shower later in the evening though was working in the morning. Towel synthetic and didn’t dry No top sheet on the bed, only a synthetic plush blanket.
Good value for money for a basic room. The room is in a block within a traditional Balinese family compound and has some beautiful features. There is a basic kitchen next to the room serving several rooms. Large fridge in the room It is located directly opposite the Yoga Barn if you are planning to spend a lot of time there. Hosts very polite Air con worked well Felt very safe

AustraliaThe shower water was mostly only slightly warm, this was from only using the hot tap and keeping the cold tap completely off. A couple of occasions it was hot and a few times it was just cold. The only real downside was waking up in the middle of the night from a rooster next door. However this is not a reflection of the homestay itself.
Basic room, basic facilities, friendly family, cheap price! I stayed for 3 weeks to be in close proximity to The Yoga Barn. It is only 3 houses down and across the road, super convenient. As there are two entrance points to The Yoga Barn, you can also walk through there to get to the other side where you’ll find restaurants, cafes, markets and monkey forest. In the room there was a cabinet with a lock and key, where you can store valuables. Plenty can fit in this. There is no soap included, so bring some with you as your future self will thank you when you’re able to freshen up after a long day of travelling!

United KingdomI prefer a fan to Aircon personally. Would have also been good to have some soap in the room as I had to go and buy my own. Small issue though and one I'm sure they would have done something about if I mentioned it.
Beautiful homely feel. So welcoming and it was lovely being in balinese culture. They even had a birthday party one night and invited us to be a part of it. Such great value for money

United StatesI don’t have anything negative to say. The place is absolutely worth it for many different reasons. If anything I would love to see them have always consistent work and clients so they can also at the right time be able to comfortably renovate the structures and even expand more.
This family is one of the kindest I ever met, they have been so patient with me, with my settling into a new country for the first time and adapting to a new city. They have been helpful through the whole process, and they went over and beyond to help. Even when I got sick with food poison, they helped me call the doctor and had them come right away to my unit and follow up during the whole process with genuine care. Made, his sister and the whole family are some people that you will be blessed to meet in your path. And when you are traveling alone in a new country feeling safe and protected is the most important thing you could wish for. On top of it the property is literally cross street from the yoga barn and so for me was so convenient to just walk there few mins before class and instead of paying for an expensive in camp accommodation you can literally stay here for a fraction of the price and feel like you are still in a retreat experience.

United StatesIt didn’t match the pictures. It was very dark when we arrived. The rooms were not nice- there was an old blanket on the bed. The showers were dirty. The host double booked the room. In order to get to the rooms we had to go down two flights of very steep stone stairs and I had a sprained knee. It was very unpleasant and we were not able to stay there.
