How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThey had a small kitchen corner which was convenient for us to cook for our small family during our stay. The location is also very close to Yoga barn.
The bathroom does not have a ventilating system.

Verified reviewIf I could give a 6 out of 5 for value for money I would. Aircon, water, kitchen loved that it was outside. Nothing was a problem, great bakery and tailor on the property.
Ubud Traffic. Luckily we’re happy walking everywhere.

Verified reviewThis little guesthouse exceeded my expectations in so many ways. First, the owner of the guesthouse was so friendly. I enjoyed the chats we had. The guesthouse comes with a small kitchen area with a stove, so technically you're able to cook. There wasn't a fridge though, so I didn't actually buy anything to cook. The room was clean enough. They cleaned my room once a week, and gave me two fresh towels each time, which were good enough for me. Location was great as well. It was a 5-min walk to Yoga Barn, and 15-minute walk to the city center with lots of food options. The owner also rented her motorcycle to me at an extremely good price. All in all, I found the room to be really value for money.
If there were a fridge, I would have been able to cook. Without a fridge, I couldn't even buy milk to make oatmeal for breakfast coz there'd be nowhere to keep the milk.

Verified reviewThe owner is lovely and the views from the balcony are beautiful, some of the rooms are fine, the beds are comfty, the breakfast is lovely and it's well situated. Having a kitchen to wash clothes in the sink, hang things to dry on the balcony or prep food is useful. You also get a large water filter to yourself.
I stayed here twice, the first time I had to ask to change rooms because there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom drains and there was furry mold on the walls that was literally causing the plaster to fall on the floor and a few days into my stay I got sick with a respiratory infection that took a long time to clear, even after I moved to a new, clean homestay. I ended up asking to change rooms which she did and the second room was much better, but I re-booked to come back a few weeks later and a new, totally different room I was given also had mold and the horrible smell coming from the bathroom. She refunded me without complaint when I explained I had to leave due to not wanting to get sick again, but it's not ideal. The smell was really really bad, like garbage left out in the sun. Also the WiFi wasn't fast enough to use for even sending messages.
Thank you for the review, thank you for your input.

Verified reviewVery nice and helpful host. Nice and clean room with a beautiful terrace and a view. The room has a small kitchen and water is provided.
A bit dark and complicated way to the rooms with a lot of stairs, but hosts were very helpful with my suitcases.

Verified reviewThis is a truly fantastic budget stay in Ubud. Very close to a lot of the main attractions (Monkey Forest is a 10-minute walk away), lots of nearby restaurants and cafes and very quiet on the property. The wifi was very good (able to work from my room from a good desk at any time, including downloads etc), and the basic kitchen facilities were great: a small gas burner, full sink and kitchen appliances, which is not a given at any price point in this area. Water is provided for free during the stay and it felt extremely safe. Towels were also provided, and the wonderful woman who runs the property and her family were lovely people who made me feel very welcome :)
Again, for a budget stay, this was a really fantastic find. Some areas of improvement: - The aircon worked, but wasn't 100% so it was a little hot at night. There is also a fan so it was okay - A bedside lamp in the room would have been great, as the main light is quite bright - Some handsoap for the bathroom and dish soap for the kitchen would have been a good addition - The bathroom was quite smelly: again, expected at this price point in this area (I also stayed at the yoga barn which is 6 x more expensive and had the same problem). I lit incense sticks in the bathroom which helped, but some air freshener would have been nice

Verified reviewAbsolutely clean, comfortable and quite space in the very centre of Ubud (close to Yoga barn). The homestay has everything you need for a longer stay incl. kitchen, water cooker, plates and cutlery, as well as a big water bottle on request. The bedsheets and towels are very clean as well as the room and the bathroom. Unique is the very quiet garden which you view every morning when having breakfast on your private balcony. Additional breakfast is possible and very delicious and fresh! The owner is available 24/7 as she and her family life there, the room is basically in the family garden.

Verified reviewThis guest house exceeded my expectations in many ways. The hotel offered excellent amenities, including reliable Wi-Fi, conveniently located electric sockets near the bed, fresh towels, a desk, and a spacious wardrobe in the room. What impressed me most was the cleanliness of the room, which stood out compared to other hotels I've stayed in. Additionally, there was a small kitchen area outside the room with a dining table, although I didn't have the chance to use it during my stay. The major highlight of my experience was the incredibly friendly and helpful owner, who went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this budget hotel in Bali for its affordability, cleanliness, and the exceptional hospitality provided by the owner. It truly made my stay memorable
The only minor inconvenience was the need to walk down a short distance from the main road to reach the room. However, the owner kindly assisted us with our luggage, making it a non-issue.
