Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo good water pressure in the shower, Pretty damp and a bit of that damp smell. You have to walk there with your luggage as there are no cars allowed in the street. Breakfast could be a bit better.
Location is good if you don't mind walking past the rows of little stalls selling their stuff. Beautiful old Balinese compound with a small swimming pool and beautiful garden. It does have a fridge and electric jug. You also can fill up your water bottle. Very quiet place. Nice TV.

United KingdomThere was no hot water in the first night when we arrived. They said there was no gas. The problem was fixed after 2 hours (at around 11 pm) so some people in our group had to take a cold shower so that they can go to sleep early (we arrived after a long day of travel so everybody expected a good, warm shower instead of cold one). No problem with hot water the following days though.
The location is prime. It's very centre of Ubud, yet, still quiet enough so that our group can enjoy peaceful time. The room is big and very clean. It is clean everyday we stayed there as well. Breakfast is simple but nice. Facilities are ok. The bed is huge (king size I guess) and the matress has very good quality (not too hard, not too soft, just right). Ubud is cool in the evening (July) so we do not use air conditional. Each room has a balcony with sofa, very nice to enjoy the view and asmostphere of a tradtional Balinese house (temple in the middle, compound with many plants).

FranceWe did not have hot water one morning, but no problem the rest of the time. The bed sheets had some stains. The room was quite humid but we had a lot of rain during our stay so can't say whether it's all the time like this.
Vey well located in central Ubud, yet very quiet. The building is nicely maintained. They clean the room everyday. There is filtered water at disposal to refill bottles. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is good. AC worked well. The staff can organise activities like Mount Batur trekking or taxi.

AustraliaGreat central location right in the heart of Ubud, where all the markets are, but it’s nice and quiet once you step into the Homestay. Close to the palace, temple, restaurants and rice fields. Spacious rooms, great breakfast, lovely pool, amazing staff and such a wonderful and warm family as hosts. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

BelgiumMost drivers will not want to drive into the street as it is very narrow, this was not a problem for me as I only had a small suitcase and the 5min walk was rather nice. While you do not hear the noise from the street, you might hear a lot from neighboring rooms. I had to use my earplugs the first night but the remaining nights I was fine without them. The rooms are basic, they are old and at the first look may not seem particularly clean (they are clean), but frankly for the price, I did not expect anything else. If you want luxury, this is not the place for you.
Rumah Roda is not a fancy hotel but a comfortable place that will make you feel like living with the locals. Located in the heart of Ubud, on the main shopping street, once inside you do not hear anything of the hustle and bustle of the street vendors. The highlight for me was most definitely the staff that made it feel like a warm home and made me actually sad to be leaving. Banana pancakes for breakfast were a perfect start of my day. I will definitely be coming back.

CanadaStaff are quite communicative. May be not as well integrated with Booking.com. But got my clarifications on time.
Breakfast and Dining is a Wonderful experience. I was provided freshly pressed Orange juice; Now thats how personal I would like my vacation to be. Swimming pool is exclusive. Balcony Views are exclusive and relaxing. Comfortable Beds, for 3 of us. Above all the location is a Super plus. Close to the Palace and umpteen dining locations; but also a walk away to Rice fields. I just want to return again.

AustraliaThe shower didn't have a lot of pressure and it took a long time to heat up, if at all. It was warm enough outside not to be a big issue, however.
The location is so close to the beautiful rice fields walk, but also close to the hustle and bustle of Ubud central. It was a very quiet and peaceful place to stay. The room was great, the bed comfy and I like the fact that they had both air con and a ceiling fan. Some nights the fan was enough, some days/nights, the air con was a welcome relief. It was good to have our own little fridge too. The family that run this homestay are very friendly and welcoming and are happy to pass on their own history and knowledge of Balinese culture. The breakfast that was included was beautiful - fresh fruit, eggs your way or pancakes and a juice/coffee/tea. The pool was refreshing and the garden was well maintained.

United KingdomNothing!
The property is so stunning and you really feel the Bali culture here! The rooms are lovely too! Location is excellent if you want to be right near the centre, you walk out and all the markers are right there. However if you are looking to stay in a quieter part of Ubud, I would not recommend this as it can be quite chaotic outside the property (lots of bikes ect) but you cannot hear this at all when in the rooms itself :)

New ZealandRoom could of benefitted from some updating and dishes from previous guests put away. Twice I requested ground room or first floor room via Booking.com. Received no answer. On arrival found that we were on second floor. I am assuming because we asked for room with two double beds that this was only option. This was not explained to us. No alternative offered.
Location was excellent as it was walking distance to Ubud Palace and shopping. Stepping out of Rumah Roda into Jalan Kajeng was typical of Ubud with the charm of its narrow streets and market stalls. Nicely surprised by beds being made every day. Pool is nice and the staff were lovely and helpful. Lovely seating area outside room to enjoy a drink and the sounds and smells of Bali.

SingaporeThe room I was in is an annex that's away from the main building. The room's main door faces a common pavilion and walkway. So whenever other guests walked by, I could hear them talking. Also (and this is a personal preference), the curtains are not blackout curtains so if you're sensitive to light, best to sleep with an eye shade. There's a short flight of steps from the main road up to the homestay - not ideal if your luggage is heavy.
If you want to explore the Ubud Art Market, Ubud Palace and Jalan Monkey Forest, this location is steps away from it all. Even if you don't make it to the Ubud Art Market, the street itself is lined with stalls selling a variety of Bali souvenirs. The street is only busy in the day, becoming quiet around dinner time. In the night, you won't hear any traffic or other noise disturbances. I love the daily breakfast - there were enough variety to choose from and it includes a plate of fresh fruit. The restaurant's menu was also quite good, so you can easily get lunch and dinner if you're lazy to head out or when it's raining heavily. The room is spacious and there is daily housekeeping. The family and staff are all warm, friendly and quick to assist without being intrusive, which I appreciated very much.

AustraliaNo complaints.
I have returned many times to this friendly home stay accommodation. The family and staff are always very welcoming and helpful. It is close to the centre of Ubud and although located in a market street during the day, it is very quiet at night. It's always a most enjoyable place to be based when investigating Ubud.

AustraliaCannot get there easily as the street is a market. We walked up the markets towards the mid/end section. Many stairs to carry luggage up and down if you are a heavy traveller.
Friendly staff, great location although very busy. I stayed with my teenage children and the rooms are not sound proof!!! We could hear the couple next to us all night and morning very clearly!! Needless to say we won't be staying there again. Oops

MalaysiaThe beds are too soft, not used to it on first night and couldn't sleep well. Second and 3rd night okay cause used to it and may be too tired after lots of walking. Air-conditioning not cold enough during day time. Removed the net that cover the bed, then it's better. Room temperature becomes very cold mid night, woke up to turn the temperature higher and continue sleeping.
Great location, walking distance to restaurants, Kajeng Rice Field, Ubud Palace, in the middle of local stalls selling local clothing, souvenirs and quiet once step into the home stay.
