Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe hand basin was outside and not inside my room. This made shaving more difficult as there was no mirror outside at the hand basin
The room was basic but comfortable. Good wifi and AC. The water in the shower was cool but this was not an issue as the weather was hot in Jogja. Complimentary water was provided. Indonesian meal options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner (at an additional cost). Tour options and a laundry service were also available. The staff were friendly. The location was a 10 min walk away from Jl Malioboro and also from the train station.

New ZealandThe property was a little bit tired and could do with a refresh but for the price it was okay.
Quiet location down a little alley, no road noise. Could hear the mosque call to prayer in the morning and roosters but that is the case everywhere in Jogja. Nice green leafy courtyard. We were given new mineral water every day. Wifi was good. Host helped us arrange drivers. Bedding and towels were nice and clean. 10-15 minute walk to Malioboro.

FranceSuch a lovely place, the hosts are so thoughtful and kind, the food was so delicious, as we had breakfast and dinner. Everything is clean and simple, cleaning is done every day, AC works well, and the garden is nice and quiet. Reachable easily and by foot from the train station, and close Malioboro and the Palace. For the price, it can't be better!

AustraliaWe stayed a week here and loved it, Aunty and Uncle were so friendly and accomodating, it was like being looked after by our parents. Breakfast delicious, highly recommend the Tumeric rice, and also very yummy snacks around (thank you for feeding me so much kerupuk!) Location was great, in a quiet laneway and walking distance to nice cafes and warungs. Recommend OURS coffee and tea around the corner for a sunset drink!

FranceLack of sink, and hot water in the shower as other reviews mentioned. It's fine for us, except when I was feverish so a cold shower wasn't ideal.
The best part about this place are the owners who own it. The room is basic but clean and spacious with ac. I got food poisoning from somewhere and I was bedridden for quite a bit. The host- Ited- was always concerned and asked if I needed anything and even brought me tea to my room. Stayed here 3 nights and would come back. The courtyard is beautiful too and a great place to lounge. The owner also let us shower after we checked out which was very nice of her.

United KingdomIt would have been useful to have a sink in the bathroom.
It was in a perfect location, very walkable from the train station. Ited was lovely, made us feel very welcome and offered lots of suggestions + information for things to do. She recommended the Ramayana Ballet which we really enjoyed. The room was simple but comfortable, with good wifi + air con.

United KingdomThe owners here are so friendly! Our hosts let us shower before we leapt aboard an 11hr night train which was really kind. We opted to eat breakfast in the homestay both days - it was tasty and very affordable. We also did a wash here and everything came back beautifully folded and ironed! There's a folder you can look through to check out tours (either options to the temples just out of town or to Bromo and Ijen). In all, they couldn't have made our stay easier. They were very accommodating.

SingaporeThere was nothing to dislike, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rumah Pagar Merah Homestay. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and help coordinate our day trips and even toured us down to the river and through the neighborhood behind the homestay. Wonderful people.
From the moment we arrived it was very easy to settle in. They offered us tea and snacks before we went up to our room which was nice and quiet. The food was great and the family who runs the hotel were very friendly and helpful in every way. The location was great because it was set back off the main road and yet it was easy to get and around to the main attractions. When visiting Yogyakarta again in the future I would always come back to Rumah Pagar Merah Homestay.

NetherlandsThere was no sink, which meant we had to wash our hands by using the shower.
The host family was very sweet. Not all of them spoke English well, but they were very involved with how we were doing and even offered us tea and sweets. The room itself is somewhat basic but very comfortable. It’s nice that it’s in an alley, a bit away from the main street.

Czech RepublicThere was no wash-basin in our room, but we didn't mind. There is cold water in the shower only, but because days were very hot, it was no problem and shower were refreshing for us.
This accommodation was well located, close to the city centre and very close to the train station. The room was clean and spacious with comfortable bed and well working AC, wifi work great as well. The hosts were amazing, very kind and helpful. They help us with renting a motorbike for a fair price, advise us interesting places around and draw it to our attention it's necessary to have an online reservation to Borobudur and Prambanan temple. Because we stayed couple of night there, the host provide us interesting breakfast which was simply, but was local and it was great experience for us.
