Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was a small bit of construction happening. Know they need to do it and this will all be done soon. Aside from a little bit of noise, this didn’t interfere with any of our enjoyment of the place.
Beautiful villas, great facilities on site, delicious breakfast and friendly, welcoming and helpful staff who helped us organise our activities.

NetherlandsConstruction site next door with a lot of noise. To many people at the small pool with a result that there was no space to relax available.
Wooden house is perfect for a jungle experience.

FranceThe hotel next door was under construction so we experienced a bit of noise but it was ok. Traffic to Ubud is also long (it s a good 45 minutes from the hotel). But the hotel offers free shuttle drop off at 1.5km from Ubud city center which is a good option (count 20 minutes) and do the rest by foot (10 minutes).
The garden is fantastic. A real pleasure. The restaurant is really good. And the people from the hotel are very kind. The rooms are great and relaxing. Swimming pool is top.

BotswanaThe bathroom was rather small. I didn't like that the only thing that separated the toilet from the shower was a curtain. Also, there were lots of mosquitoes, which was understandable because of all the greenery surrounding the resort.
The staff was very friendly. They arranged a great package for us to explore the different activities. I particularly enjoyed the food at the restaurant, especially the Indonesian menu.

ItalyOne small downside was the lack of a proper space to open and organize our suitcases. Since most of the room was taken up by the bed, the bathtub, and the desk, it felt a bit cramped and got messy quite quickly. A larger wardrobe would also have been helpful for storing clothes and keeping things tidy. The location is peaceful and away from the chaos — which we really appreciated — but keep in mind that reaching the city center can take up to 40 minutes by scooter during peak traffic hours.
An exceptional place to stay! The reception staff were always on time, precise, and incredibly kind. One of the best things was the WhatsApp service — super efficient. They respond almost immediately, and you can use it to book anything or ask for information or assistance with ease. When we first arrived in our room, we noticed the bed sheets had some stains and a few hairs. We reported it via WhatsApp and someone came right away to clean everything — very professional and quick response. The pool is nice, but what truly stands out is the stunning garden surrounding the rooms. It feels like the Garden of Eden — lush, wild, yet perfectly maintained. A real haven of peace and beauty. The restaurant was good, though not exceptional — probably due to the huge variety of dishes on the menu, clearly designed to cater to a very international clientele with diverse tastes and dietary habits. Breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent. Even though it’s à la carte, there was a good variety of options and everything we tried was delicious. Highly recommended overall — we really enjoyed our stay!

United KingdomLimited number of sunbeds (not enough for half the residents)
Authentic, private, well kept bungalows set in lovely gardens with large pool overlooking the rice terraces. Away from all the hustle and bustle of Ubud. Staff were attentive and extremely helpful making arrangements on our behalf. Useful shuttle into Ubud and easy enough to pick up a Grab to get back. Fabulous breakfasts and delicious restaurant menu with food beautifully presented. Really enjoyed the complimentary dawn Yoga session. Would definitely go back.

We stayed in a great wooden house! We loved it, the only negative thing was that the toilet door is squeaking. The staff was super kind and helpful. We needed to check out very early in the morning and they prepared us a breakfast box for take away which was extra kind. The pool was very clean and well maintained. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The whole resort gives you a jungle vibe which I loved, it was very calm and relaxing!

NetherlandsThe restaurant staff wasn’t quite as warm as we’ve experienced elsewhere in Bali, but still fine. The menu was quite extensive and on the pricier side for Indonesian standards. Our tip: consider a smaller menu and focus on perfecting those dishes.
The resort was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and nature. The restaurant overlooks the pool, offering a stunning view that really adds to the experience. The rooms were nice and spacious, though there were some visible signs of wear and tear. The semi-outdoor bathroom is a unique feature, though it might not be for everyone. Being in the middle of nature, and with the bungalows not fully sealed, it's possible to encounter Tokehs (geckos) in your room. They tend to hide on the ceiling and can surprise you with their loud calls. The staff is happy to help remove them, although it’s not always successful. It’s part of the nature experience, if you don’t like that, this might not be the place for you.

HungaryOverall we are satisfied but there are a few things to improve: Breakfast could be better. It is really hard to understand what you can choose and what you will get. I ordered 3 times the same, I always got different, and was not enough for me. (Cappucino not included, funny). The happy hour is not understandable, I got different receipt what they told me. The all you can eat was disappointing. The local coctail was still water (which is everytime free in the hotel...), and the food selection was interesting and small. I complained, then nothing happened. The room 17 is not the cheapest room, but I think maybe the loudest. It is clear that there are noises in a wooden house. But the room is really next to the parking, so you will hear when the complete staff arrive or leave. You can hear everything from the lobby (including with the fountain, when somebody leave or arrive, when they talk) or when the staff go to their private places. I always woke up several times in the middle of the night (because of the cars, the scooters - engine sound, fighting cats) and was hard to sleep.
More or less everything: the hotel, the room, the garden, the pool, etc. It is a really nice place to enjoy the nature and relax more or less anytime. The quality of the food and drinks are really good. The is a really cute cat and some dogs sometimes. So it was what we excepted.

ChileEverything was perfect.
Our stay at Rumah Kayu was simply magical. From the very beginning, the staff welcomed us with such genuine warmth—it felt more like arriving at a friend’s home than at a resort. Their motto, ‘authentic natural living,’ isn’t just a phrase—they truly live by it. They spoiled us with so much kindness and care, from the peaceful breakfasts to the special little gestures for my partner’s birthday…something we’ll never forget. Surrounded by nature, it’s the perfect place to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with what really matters. We even started our 2 AM hike to Mount Batur from here, and coming back to the stillness of the resort and the smiles of the staff was just what we needed. If you’re looking for a place with soul—honest, intimate, and full of Balinese charm—this is it. We’d come back a thousand times over. Huge thanks to all the legends we met at Rumah Kayu. This hidden gem will stay in our hearts forever. Your warmth, kindness, and good vibes made this place unforgettable. We’ll carry you with us, always! 🙏🏼
