I really enjoyed staying here. The rooms are clean and fresh water is provided everyday. The breakfast was really delicious and varying meals are freshly cooked everyday. The owner is so kind and friendly and helped me organize a tour. Plus the location is very good. Overall I highly recommend staying here and I would definitely come back!

This small hotel was really nice. All of the family and staff were helpful and nice. The garden was for everyone to use and was a really relaxing place. The location is wonderful and you could wander around starting at the hotel and meet nice local people and come across small restaurants. The room was good, the bed was really nice, Airco worked great. The bathroom was quite simple, but it worked out for us.

Feels like being welcomed in an Indonesian home. Breakfast is delicious. Absolute warmth from the owners. The oyen 🐈 is a nice touch

I forgot that they use a different socket for chargers 🔌 but it’s all good.

Yuli is so helpful. She cooked some traditional food for breakfast, offered an umbrella when it rained. It was great value for the money.

The WiFi was very bad,at least on the second floor.

The owner Julie and her family are truly lovely people who provided such a warm welcome to their beautiful home. The property and garden are so colourful and vibrant. Local Indonesian breakfast were provided which were all excellent and catered for our very early schedules. We were even given a pack up on the day we left. Julie helped organise a tour to the temples.

Our stay was short but absolutely great. The location of the place is very convenient, 20 minute walk from the train station. The room was on the smaller side, but we didn't spend too much time inside anyway, so that wasn't an issue. The place itself is great, room is clean, the garden and the hostel territory is nice with a lot of shaded areas to spend time if it gets too hot. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, homecooked local food. If you're planning to go see the temples in and around the city, this is a great place to stay, absolutely worth the money.

The rooms without AC can get quite hot, and the fan doesn't help that much in that regard, but it's not really a big issue, since you can alsways spend some time outside in the shade.

My husband and I have stayed in Rumah Gandrung for 4 nights, whilst in Yogyakarta. Our check in time had to be changed for late evening due to delayed flight. On arrival our host was friendly and has received our arrival with the biggest smile despite the late check in time. Her smile and kindness has stayed throughout our stay. Both hosts were extremely helpful to accommodate us by helping us rent a motorbike and find laundry facility. The room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was fabulous every single morning. We have received fresh coffee and freshly made traditional Indonesian/Javanese dish every morning, which was on a restaurant level of excellence. On our day of leaving, our hosts have prepared our breakfast in takeaway boxes so we could take it with us on our long journey which was a nice touch and very helpful. If you are staying in Yogyakarta, we definitely recommend you to stay in Rumah Gandrung, you will not regret it!

    Nothing. It was all great!

We really enjoyed our stay at Rumah Gandrung. The family was really friendly and smiley and was always available for anything. They serve a delicious traditional breakfast that varies every day as well as coffee or tea. The room was a perfect size for the two of us and we were very comfortable. The Wi-Fi worked very well. One thing to note is there is no hot water in the shower. The location is ideal for exploring Yogyakarta on foot or by car. There are attractions reachable on foot such as the Kraton, Taman Sari and Malioboro Street. It’s also perfect for reaching Yogyakarta airport (YIA) in just 1h by car as you don’t have to cross the city.

Very friendly family running the place, they gave us delicious breakfast every day and even dinner or lunch when we weren’t there for the breakfast! They helped with our laundry and transport. The room is nice and good enough for the price. If we ever come back to Jogja we will stay here!

The only bad thing is that the water in the shower is cold, but it’s hot outside so it’s not that bad ;)

We originally booked 2 nights but ended up staying 4 nights. We loved it so much !!! This family loves plants and architecture. You will feel like in a movie, probably the hobbit’s village. Having breakfast and seeing the sun shining on all these flowers is just amazing and relaxing !! Hope that we will be back one day ❤️ thank you again for the gift, I will wear it forever

Best guesthouse in Yogyakarta! The family is so welcoming and will help you organize your days in the city. Breakfast was really yummy and different every single day. We even had the chance to have a traditional dish usually made for special occasions. We felt life home. We will remember you forever ❤️

Friendly staff that made sure there was anything I needed, even provided super glue for me to fix my shoes.

I was asked for a copy of my booking confirmation right after booking which is highly unusual. It would be better if they didn't do that.
