How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe tree houses were unique and comfy! The grounds were very well kept. The property isn’t close to anything so you’ll need a scooter or driver.

Verified reviewThe tree house is fantastic, the grounds are well maintained and it is very picturesque. Breakfast was nice although did take quite a while.
The location isn’t great, it’s a taxi ride (if you can get one to come!) away from restaurants etc. Remember mosquito repellent The food and drink choice is very limited

Verified reviewMagical Faraway Tree vibes a must go to if wanting something super special and rare. This place was our favourite stay over the whole month in bali its unlike anything ever been to, tranquil hideaway, and wow exceptional staff and talented chef meals so cheap and best we have ate, we took up the best true bali style in house massage in the suspended outdoor yoga studio, we didn't want to leave, even the pool perfect temp an shade with ratio of sun lounges, only small amount of rooms all unique and layout perfect, bedding firm but slept excellent, little details like face oils, toothbrushes, the most amazing shower & toiletries, filtered water, we loved the pully system sending meals to is in cutest picnic basket and down in restaurant excellent vibe to, has wifi bit not really fast, perfect complete switch off zone thankyou again to the staff truly love their job and making it special for all guests.
Construction noises not staff fault

Verified reviewThis listing was very misleading. Before booking, I was under the impression, based on the website, that we would be staying in a treehouse. However, upon arrival, we were given a standard room with a king bed and no view. It was a major letdown. When I tried to raise the issue, there was no effort to resolve it… no compensation, no communication, and zero customer service throughout the stay. The room itself was disappointing: - You might as well grab your pillow and sleep by the pool because of how many mosquitoes there are in the room. - You would get better WiFi there also as there is very poor connection - The air conditioning was weak. - Showers were cold. - Construction noise made it hard to relax. - The location wasn’t ideal. - There were no basic amenities like a floor-length mirror or iron. As for breakfast, the options were very limited. No complimentary juice or variety—just one decent thing: the pancake option. Overall: Way overpriced for what you get. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

Verified reviewThe grounds were beautiful with great attention to detail. Lots of places to chill out. The pancake breakfasts were delicious. The treehouses were gorgeous and there were no mosquitoes. It does look just like the photos.
It was impossible not to hit your head/ scrape your back, whack your knee. None of the 3 or us are more than 165cm but we all sustained injuries getting in and out. My 13yo son got a nasty sore on his back from an errant nail. While it is gorgeous, it really is made for hobbits. Also the food was hit and miss. Some dishes were fantastic, while others (mie Goreng for example) were very ordinary.

Verified reviewRoots Tree House is located in a quiet area of Uluwatu (close to the main attractions, but not in the middle of very busy areas). The resort and the tree houses are fantastically designed. Each house is custom made. The restaurant is excellent (thanks to chef Koming, who prepares not only Balinese dishes, but also Spanish dishes, better than in Ibiza).
A better description of the rooms at check-in would allow us to better highlight the quality of the services offered (e.g. we only discovered at check-out that the bottle with black powder was used to brush your teeth, instead of toothpaste)

Verified review- Nice design of the resort - Super kind staff - Dinner was also very good and tasty - Great Chef (avocado toast, crocquetas and tortilla are really excellent)
- Wi-Fi in the suite king room works only in a part of the room (e.g. not when lied on the bed) - Breakfast: the quality of food is very high, the service is very nice at restaurant and in room, but the quantity of food is limited (only one plate for person and no buffet)

Dear Gülben, Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the unique experience of sleeping under the stars. We are truly sorry if there was any confusion or discomfort during check out. Just to clarify, the only toiletry that guest are welcome to take home is the facial oil, as it's a small handcrafted gift. All the other items are reused and refilled as a part of our eco-conscious approach - we strive to reduce single-use plastics and minimize waste in every way possible. We will make sure to communicate this more clearly in the future to avoid any misunderstandings. Wishing you safe and happy travels ahead, Roots Tree House Team.
