How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had three magical nights at a bungalow just outside Tetebatu, and it was truly unforgettable. With Dave as our guide, we spent a full day walking through the rice fields, meeting locals from the community, exploring stunning waterfalls, and even searching for the small black monkeys in the monkey forest – such a special adventure! The following day we booked a half-day tour and visited a local bamboo workshop, pottery makers, and the vibrant local market. Every activity felt authentic and meaningful. Dave and his family create such a warm, personal experience that makes you feel right at home. The food cooked by his aunt was absolutely delicious – the tempeh satay is a must-try! Be careful when ordering though, because portions are generous and you’ll never finish it all. The rooms are simple and back-to-basic, but with everything you could possibly need. You’re surrounded by nature, so expect the sounds of animals and also the nearby mosques – but we saw this as part of the cultural experience. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. We wish Dave and his family all the best in the world and are grateful for such an authentic and memorable stay.
Nothing :)

Verified reviewThe family who own the Homestay are extremely welcoming and make you feel at home, plus their meals are sensational. Dave their nephew is a fantastic guide who really teaches you all about their culture, is happy to show you around their village and the wider community (he also took us to a local wedding which was a great experience), including showing you natural beauty of the area.
You will hear the mosques calling to prayer quite close early in the morning and in the evening but this is what you can expect anywhere in Lombok.
Thank you for staying at RATURINJANI HOMESTAY and thank you for your review, Sam Bates.

Verified reviewGreat place to soak in the local culture of the rural part of Lombok. Beautiful view form the cozy double decked cottage. Very friendly staff with Dave being an excellent guide around the vicinity. Fresh fruit and very good meals provided by the host at super low price. Nice pool. Warm water shower. Good bed. Solid wifi.
The area is a very traditional and religious and the place is surrounded by 4 mosques. Though ear protection is provided by the accomodation, it may not be enough if you need to sleep a lot.

Verified reviewWe had an amazing time here and absolutely recommend staying here! Raturinjani is a great homestay, the family is very welcoming and embraces you from the moment you arrive. Staying here gives you a real view of how people live in more remote locations of Lombok. Please be aware that the homestay is not in Tetebatu but 15 min away, renting a scooter is therefore recommended or let you drive aroud by a tourguide in case you don't feel comfortable driving yourself. The homestay provides all services as food, laundry, taxi and whatever suits your needs. We stayed 4 nights at Raturinjani, during this time we did many activities with Dave as our tourguide, who is speaking English very well. The activities we did were a nature tour including waterfalls, finding the black monkeys in the monkey forest, a culture tour including ricefield farming visits, bamboo crafting, cloth weaving, visiting the local market, a cooking class and making our own coffee and coconut oil. Dave climbed 10 meters up in a coconut tree to cut the coconuts from the tree! . The breakfast is nice, and you can choose between egg and toast or a pancake. In both options fruit and lombok coffee or tea is provided. For dinner there are plenty of options and all the dishes were very nice. There is a fridge with plenty of sodas and water if you would like a drink. After traveling 3 weeks through Indonesia, Raturinjani was the perfect place to spend our last days. Looking back at it, it is an experience I will never forget, and we will do it again without a doubt.
There was one thing we were not prepared for, what was the call to prayer of the nearby mosque very early (5 am) and late (10 pm). Even with earplugs it gave us less sleep than we typically have.
Thank for your review 😊

Verified reviewOur stay at Raturinjani was truly one of the highlights of our travels. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and kindness by the entire family. They were always there to offer guidance and we felt completely at home. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, and having the option to enjoy lunch and dinner on-site was incredibly convenient. They also offer extras such as moped rentals, cooking classes, laundry service, and taxi arrangements. We both felt so comfortable and cared for throughout our stay, and we sincerely hope to return in the near future. We spent our days exploring the nearby waterfalls and rice fields. The area is untouched by tourism, giving you a truly authentic experience. Dave thank you so much for everything, you were an amazing host and friend. All the best, Daisy and Elly

Verified reviewThis family lets you into their lives which is a privilege. Go for a walk. Smile and say hello to everyone and enjoy the experience.
There are 3 mosques all very close. Be ready for the loud noise. It can be quite over powering but realise it is an important part of their world.

Verified reviewwe had the best time here at RatuRinjani and we wish we could've stayed longer! originally we booked for 7 nights, we ended up extending our stay and stayed a total of 13 nights. because our visa ran out we unfortunately couldn't stay longer. the homestay is located in a very small village (it's the only homestay in the village so you're the only tourists in the village) and the cottages are only 5 months old. They're very beautiful and comfortable and have everything you need. the little balcony on the second floor is soo nice to chill and relax and enjoy the beautiful view of Rinjani Mountain. The family is the absolute best. They're so kind and welcoming. Catherine is the best cook and she will cook amazing meals for you every single day which we enjoyed so much. the kids are so cute and Dave and Son taught us a lot about the culture, the village, they took us to the jungle, to a local wedding ceremony, a local waterfall, we went on a snorkeling trip to the less touristy gili islands which we would definitely recommend because it was absolutely beautiful and so much fun. The whole family is happy to show you all around. It truly felt like family and we had the best time! we rented a scooter with them as well so we could explore on our own, go to the big city etc. It felt like we were with family and that's what made our stay so special and memorable. we would recommend this place to anyone! especially if you like a more quiet, secluded place in nature to rest and relax. We will be back, Bo & Daan

Verified reviewIt was really really cozy and comfortable. The room has a second floor with a balcony to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountain. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. If you want dinner Catherine will prepare some incredible local food. She should open a Warung ;) I felt like I was part of the family and really being taken care of. If you like to be close to the local culture and the nature, go for it (just be aware of the 4:30am prayer that can be quite loud. I managed just fine though).
All perfect for me 😊

Verified reviewThe property is amazing! The huts face Mt Rinjani and the view from the little balcony was just great. The facilities are super new and sparkling clean! There’s enough space in the bathroom and the bedroom to hang clothes and the shower was really nice as well. The location a bit far off from everything else but that‘s what makes it so charming. It was perfect to relax after traveling and just enjoy nature. The boys working there really went above and beyond to show us the area and local lives & crafts. We got to weave palm fronds with the neighbors and saw a local traditional wedding parade - really cool! They arranged a pickup from the airport for us and also a drop off to our next stop, everything went smoothly and it was super comfortable. Everyones super nice and the family is just so welcoming!! The food was amazing, there was lots of fresh fruit with breakfast and we could take more from the garden if needed. The Rice and Noodles we had for dinner were absolutely delicious too. There is also filtered water available on the porch and there‘s a fridge in the room as well. Definitely our favorite place on the trip!!

Verified reviewThis is the best experience! 100% recommendation, if you know where you are booking for. The family gave us a super warm welcome. They would invite us every night for dinner and Cartini is a real good cook. The wooden house is beautiful, the bed sleeps good and the bathroom is very nice. Every morning we got breakfast at our porch with a great view on the Rinjani. They help you with activities in the neighbourhood. We went into the jungle for a day and helped a little bit with the ricefields. We felt at home! Big thanks to the family!
Just know this is a little out of Tetebatu, 15 min with scooter. For us this was a plus because it felt all very authentic. We were here during Ramadan. There are a lot of prayers all day long. Bring some earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Verified reviewWe loved our week here and wanted to stay forever, the room has been beautifully built and came with a comfy big bed and duvet, the balcony up top with the beanbags was a unique touch and wonderful to relax and look over the volcano, the shower has hot water too! the village has just opened for tourism and has really nice waterfalls away from the regularly visited ones near by. The owners were the most welcoming people we’ve met and really made us feel like part of the family. They also offer guides who are extremely friendly and speak good English to the the waterfalls and volcano, we will be back to make the hike when the season starts again (April- December)
