Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe surroundings are very noisy so prepare your earplugs (mainly the road and masjid just next to the bedrooms)
Pretty local hotel with cute bedrooms ! The family owning the place was very nice and always ready to help us (renting scooter / organizing transfers / hiking and local spots etc…). The breakfast is great ! The small rest area under the bedroom was perfect to chill and meet other travelers ! I would definitely recommend if you want to experience a local stay in Sembalun !

United KingdomThe property is located adjacent to a big mosque which sounds multiple times a day, notably at 5am. Even though the call to prayer is heard loudly at this guesthouse, it is heard everywhere in Sembalun so it can’t be avoided anywhere.
The owner Nanang was super helpful, organising a bike for us to hire and laundry during our stay. The breakfasts were also incredible, particularly the banana pancakes!

AustraliaThe only thing I would change is that my room had a squat toilet - but not a big deal and would not stop me from staying here.
The host was amazing, he went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well looked after.

GermanyThe host is extremely kind and helped us out with everything we needed (motorcycle, tips for hikes, transport...). Everything is clean and functioning. You get very good value for money here. Breakfast is delicious as well. I'm giving 10 stars because I find it unfair how many guests only rate this place lower because of the surrounding noises. If you read only one review you know what you should expect. If you can't cope with noise just don't book a place like this. Why book it and complain afterwards :)

United KingdomRecommendations; - Bring earplugs as the road and call to prayer is very loud. - The rooms are a bit damp, hence the lower score. Some better ventilation and all would be perfect 5 star...!
Overall a brilliant place to stay in the heart of the village, made all the better by the host Nanang! Nanang organised us a visit to the local coffee and vanilla plantations and also (at our request) took us to prayer at his local mosque to see more of their culture. The breakfast is great, especially the banana pancakes. Tea and coffee on tap. And drinking water. Thanks for having us :)

New ZealandIt’s quite noisy being on the main road.
The owners of this hotel are kindness personified. They took me and two other guests to visit a community co-op that grows and roasts coffee. They arranged my onward transportation in a cheap local van. They bent over backwards to show hospitality. Wonderful people.

IndonesiaToilets were quite basic
We had a wonderful, relaxing couple of days in Sembalun at Radiya Guesthouse. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The toilets were basic but clean. What truly made our stay there were the owners. They were exceptionally kind and welcoming. They made us delicious banana pancakes each morning and there was always tea and coffee waiting on the porch. The scenery was stunning at the foot of Pergasinan Hill. We had a wonderful time hiking and visiting the strawberry fields, which the owners very kindly brought us to. Can’t recommend enough.

NorwayNothing, I got the experience I wanted, felt like base camp at Himalayas, so happy to be in the caldera. A roof noise was a bat or bird every morning eating fruit our host said...caves around so yeah bat, I love bats.
We liked everything about our stay, but mainly our hosts who were exceptional. Lovely conversations in english, hot water flask and tea and coffee, own deck to sit on, beautiful breakfast of banana pancakes or nasi Goreng, so we shared one of each, no A/C or fan needed as cold at night and blanket needed, opened door during day for breeze, smart tourist/farming community attract hikers, runners - Rinjani 100, and explorers like us. We were helped, by locals on the road, to a straight up climb right in town. Host arranged motorcycle and transport to next hotel. Gardens manicured AND edible! Fish pond lovely. View of caldera from room!

NetherlandsNot much to say! Only thing is that it’s a little bit further away from Uluwatu, where most of the restaurants and beaches are. But it’s just a half an hour drive, so no problem at all!
We stayed in the honeymoon bungalow, it was amazing. The bungalow is so beautiful, very comfortable and with view on the pool. A great shoutout to the family owners, they are so so kind and welcoming. Great value for money. Amazing stay. Terima kasih!!
