How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewGreat localisation, at the start of the waterfall hike and restaurant in front of the hotel. The hotel also provides a map of the 3 waterfall hike to see. The hotel has a second building on the other side of the valley but we haven’t visited it.

As previous reviewers already said some elements of the room were not clean. Some of its down to the aging of the property. However very good price value and good place to stay

Verified reviewThis is a lovely guesthouse from which you can explore the lovely waterfalls near Munduk. The hotel itself is also very nice, with an amazing view from the pool. It is a quiet place that allows you to experience the best in Munduk. We also enjoyed a Balinese massage at the hotel; we recommend it!
We had some issues with cash. When we had our massage, we were told we could pay by card on our final day but this turned out not to be true. We then discovered that finding an ATM in Munduk was very difficult. The closest ATM was over 3 kilometers away and ended up not working for several people, including us. So our warning is to get plenty of cash before going to Munduk!

Verified reviewTucked away in the mountains of Munduk, walking distance to shops and food in this small town. Town is asleep by 9 so it was all very peaceful with beautiful scenery. It was a nice departure from the much more touristy areas on the island. The staff was pleasant and welcoming.

Verified reviewA gorgeous oasis tucked away in the mountains! The pool is a lovely touch and the views are superb! There’s options for massages too! Walking distance to a good array of warungs which were all delicious!! Rooms were spacious and clean!
Because it’s in a remote town be mindful that you will have to have your own transport he it scooter or private cars! We had heard complaints about bugs before honestly didn’t bother us there’s nets over the beds and when in the mountains it’s difficult to avoid wildlife completely

Verified reviewThe setting of the resort in mountain with the beautiful forrest surrounding you were very peaceful and unexpected. Very nice restaurant on site with friendly and helpful staff. Not much to do in walking distance and would suggest to have a driver on standby. Excellent massage at the pool.

Verified reviewWhat a Magical Find! A lovely family run Guest House, with beautiful staff who couldn't help enough and smiles every where. The rooms were 'rustic' but clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was incredible - with open views across the lush verdant valley. We spent a few hours by the infinity pool and the girls had quality massages. It was also ideally located across the road from the start of the 4 Waterfalls Track!
We couldn't think of anything we didn't like about the hotel. There was some moss on the rocks near the pool that I slipped on, but besides that, nothing!!!

Verified reviewWe did not expect much, but honestly, it was perfect. Because of other reviews, we were afraid of the towels and bathroom, but you really don’t need to be. It was a bit outdated, but the water had the best pressure in Bali! I was finally able to wash my hair properly. The view from the pool - beautiful rice terraces and hills. The accommodation is right at the start of the waterfall trek. It is a hard trek in the Bali humid air, don’t be fooled, but it’s sooooo worth it! Munduk was amazing, we are so happy we didn’t skip it, and Puri Sunny was the best place we could stay at Munduk. I even saw a small waterfall in the hotel backyard!
The breakfast was a bit boring, but we found out it’s like this at most places in Bali (we stayed at 12 accommodations)

Talking about the old building, we back to the history of our guest house. North Bali was under the control of Dutch administration after the Jagaraga war of 1894, Due to the location of Buleleng harbour, Singaraja was chosen as the centre of Dutch administration also the capital of Bali. Munduk village is became the preferred place for weekend vacations for the Dutch, to restore energy with a combination of cold temperatures, quiet, and surrounded by five elements of nature; space, air, sun, water, and earth plus wild forest; I believe it functioned well until today. Puri Sunny Guest House was located at the starting point for road distances to all part of Bali (0 km), and it was the first building that were made for the Dutch to stay (called PESANGRAHAN -> now Puri Sunny). Therefore, to preserving the past, maintain their heritage, we preferred to renovation the building but still keep its old value. Despite of its simplicity, we are trying to provide our best service and give a new experience of living in village surrounded by amazing Balinese nature for our guest. Beds are too soft (at least in #15), noise from the kindergarden nearby and from the bottom street (motorbikes in the morning).

We do apologize if there is any inconvenience during your stay especially about the bed, we added mattress topper on every bed, hopefully it can provide extra support and feel cozier during the sleep becuase the other guest complain about the previous hard bed, we are sorry if it turns out made you felt discomfort. Also noise from school and main road which has an uphill structure so the vehicle needs to power up the speed and power so it will sound noisy. Two of our rooms (9,15) are located next to the elementary school, every Monday - Friday at around 6 am the children are praying together, they spell the mantra (we called it Tri Sandhya) the first thing to do before they start the class, that’s also the way to remind us to always send morning prayer to start the day with gratitude. They also sometimes playing traditional music as a way to preserve our culture. Pardon us if it disturbs you but that was our uniqueness, and maybe you couldn’t find it in other country. Talking about the old building, we back to the history of our guest house.
