Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsPondok Diana is simply the perfect place to stay. The location couldn’t be better: just a short ride to Virgin Beach, and they even have their own little private beach only three minutes away. The rooms are huge, the bed super comfortable, and the shower more than fine. I felt so warmly welcomed here, and to top it off – breakfast was included. The surroundings are absolutely breathtaking. From the rooftop terrace you have a view of the volcano on one side, and the ocean on the other, with endless green palm trees and rice fields in between. It’s just “wow” – pure paradise. It’s also easy to reach and only a five-minute ride from a fantastic local warung (ask the hosts for the name – it’s worth it!). For this price, with this comfort and location, it’s unbelievable. Truly a hidden gem in East Bali. 🌴🌊🌋

GermanyIts a simple but very nice place! Its calm with sounds of nature. The owner and his family are super welcoming and friendly! They also provide a lot of good information about what you can do and see in the area. Its also possible to get Nasi goreng for Dinner. Comfortable big bed, good WiFi and very good AC. Definetly a very good value for the Money you pay. Keep in mind that its one of the cheapest options in the area! I totally dont get the bad reviews of some people, especially of someone who was here a few days ago! Its a shame to be honest! And not fair!! Go to a Hotel and pay 5 Times the price and everything will be perfect... If you are lucky!! I would definetly come back and can honestly highly recommend this place :)

SpainYou should rent a bike if you want to visit other places around as there is no Grab or Gojek (or very difficult to find)
Amazing location surrounded by beautiful nature. The room was clean and simple and the family of Diana is very kind and friendly. It’s 25 min walking from Virgin Beach and it has the most calm and relaxed vibe 😊.

HungaryIt was the best place we have ever stayed, in the beautiful nature, surrounded by hundreds of birds and jungle plants. Here for a short time we could enjoy the real Bali! The sunrise was magical and the family is lovely, helpful. The pancake for breakfast was good. Just one more tiny, but very important thing: here was the first time, when the windows were perfectly clean, so we had a really good view.

United KingdomFrom the moment I arrived, I felt at home. They welcomed me in and gave me many tips on what to do and where to go and even the best times! At the end of my stay, Diana offered to take me on the back of his scooter to the ferry port as I was struggling to book a taxi. Nothing seemed too much for this family. Great value for money for my solo travelling - It is the perfect location for Virgin Beach and many other must-see things. I'll certainly re visit on my next trip to Bali.

Czech RepublicExcellent homemade food, beautiful & quiet location in the middle of rice paddies and only a short walk from a beautiful beach. The most welcoming hosts that will teach you about local customs and language if you're interested. If you're looking for a quiet spot away from the crowds where you can also immerse in Balinese culture, this is it! <3

United KingdomI had an incredible stay at this hidden gem near Virgin Beach. The location is perfect – just a three-minute walk to the beach, yet surrounded by the serene beauty of nature. It’s the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Bali’s quieter side. The host, Diana, is truly the highlight of this place. She is so warm and welcoming, making you feel instantly at home. Her stories and insights into Bali made my stay even more special. The rooms are simple but very comfortable, with air conditioning that’s a real lifesaver in this hot part of Bali. Plus, the price is fantastic for the value you get. To top it off, the breakfast was lovely – the perfect way to start the day before heading to the beach. I couldn’t recommend this place more for anyone looking for a convenient, peaceful, and affordable stay near Virgin Beach!

United KingdomThe bathroom might feel a bit rough and ready for some guests, but it's totally fine for this very reasonable price.
This place is within easy walking distance of one of the most perfect beaches I've ever spent time on (although you do get stung with an entry tariff). The homestay itself is within a lush natural setting and is incredibly good value for money. Strong wifi is also a bonus. Most particularly, I'm much obliged to Mr Diana for taking time out from a holiday to shuttle me around to all the places I wanted to see on his scooter and for sharing his wisdom about Bali. I felt incredibly taken care of.

AustraliaWe came here tired from long and hard travelling and found the best place to rest up and relax that we could have hoped for. Pondok Diana is a homestay surrounded by fields, a leisurely 15 minute walk to Virgin Beach and near a traditional village. Our room was large, bed very comfortable, plenty of space to place and store things. We could see the sunrise from our room upstairs and sit on the balcony to enjoy the peace and quiet. Breakfast which was included in our rate was either banana pancake or vegetable omelette with tea or coffee. Diana's daughter makes the very best nasi goreng for lunch or dinner if you feel hungry. We had some great conversations with Diana, our host, who explained about Balinese beliefs and customs. On one of the days we did a day tour with him to visit a selection of sights that he had suggested and on our final day Diana took us to the airport. Thank you Diana and family for your hospitality. We would stay here again if we came back to Bali. (Since Booking.com in my past reviews omitted to add several things we usually look for, I add them here: Couple, Australia, double room with balcony, 24 - 27 August.)

CroatiaRoom was dirty when I entered it and was not cleaned even once during my 4 days stay, not even the garbage bin i left outside the room so antz and lizzards were everywhere around garbage.. Terrible noise from the water pump for 3 minutes whenever someone in the building flushes toilet, you need to have ear plugs all the time if you do not want to be irritated by that. Did not have access to swimming pool as I should according to booking.com. it is just for certain rooms.
Great hosts. Spacious room, lot of privacy. Nice view surrounded by nature. Good wifi. Good price and good location. Just 12 min walk to the virigin beach.
