Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkNot completely clean in the room, could need some maintenance. We booked a room with double bed but they told us they only had one room left with 2 single beds.. a bit disappointing when you expected a big double bed as advertised.
Good location, nice staff, good pool, good view from room.

HungaryThe room needed a deep clean, it was dusty. It is a little far from Ubud center, you can't walk there, the roads are really narrow.
The accomodation is basically part of a family's home, so you can get to know the traditional balinese everyday life:) The terrace looks to the jungle, the breakfast is delicious, the room is big.

Great host, very good breakfast and a nice family environment. It's a welcoming family guest house. You can rent a bike there, in reasonable conditions at a reasonable price.

AustraliaAlthough it was clean, the room smelled of mould, which wasn't pleasant. Apart from the usual captive birds, there was a large porcupine kept in a small cage, although the family did agree to release it for a price.
Pondok Bali is a good-value homestay owned by a lovely family. The room was large and light, and the bed was comfortable. The view from my terrace over the jungle was beautiful. I also highly recommend the onsite cooking class by Dewi. The homestay is about 15 mins motorbike ride from the centre of Ubud, which I personally liked. Komang can arrange a motorbike hire if needed. There are several nice warungs nearby overlooking the rice paddies and a small warung at the homestay offering cheap indonesian dishes.

United StatesThe rooms were pretty bad. The first one I stayed in smelt very very strongly like sewage. I switched 3 nights in. The second didn't smell as bad but had no sink, no table to put my things, and holes in the walls where mosquitoes would come in at night. There's no places to hang out during the day as well, just your room and the dining room table. Again, it's very simple-if this is your budget, then it's fine, liveable. If you have higher standards and can afford a little bit more, I'd go somewhere else.
The family is very, very sweet. The host arranges whatever you need and was very responsive. For 6$ a night, including a simple breakfast, I don't feel much like complaining. I know my money is going to a good family and the property itself was lovely. Outside of Ubud so it's quiet, but a little bothersome to travel from everyday. You definitely need a scooter.

NetherlandsReally nice, cosy homestay. It's in a traditional Balinese family home. The family is really nice and can give you a lot of tips for around. The location is a littlebit out the centre of Ubud. But there are some really nice warungs around to eat in the middle of the rice fields. The room can be improved with small maintenance, but doesn't effect the comfortness that you get for the price that you pay. Breakfast really good!

Germany- bathroom facilities could be a more maintained/cleaned - one night we had a big gecko in the room and my friend didn’t like it so I asked the owner to remove it and he came and smashed it with a broom which did the job but this wasn’t my intention at all and left me sad
big room and nice furniture, comfortable bed, view right into the jungle, friendly staff (family) and good breakfast, little shop right on the entrance, interesting Balinese style house

Czech RepublicThank you so much! It is a traditional multi-generational Balinese house with beautiful decor and a lovely patio. The rooms are very nice, clean, and spacious, providing plenty of privacy. It’s in a very convenient location, just a few minutes from beautiful rice terraces, etc. I spent the morning talking to one of the family members and learned so much about their life. I would 100% come back! Highly recommended!

GreeceI also adjust myself to local conditions as well and do not expect to find whatever i had in the west exactly the same .... after this is a major reason of traveling isn't it.
Excellent view, you can even her the waterfalls, papaya and banana trees around all the forest and river valley at your feet because the property sits on the top of the river valley. Warm friendly people and an ancient heritage is there all as a home-stay.
