Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomReview of Plataran West Bali National Park: A Hidden Paradise in the Heart of Nature 🌿 If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a place where nature gently wraps around you, where your day begins with birdsong and ends with sunsets over the mangroves — Plataran is that dream brought to life. This resort is not just a place to stay, it’s an experience that leaves a lasting imprint on your soul. Located in the heart of West Bali National Park, it offers a rare chance to live side by side with wildlife: deer stroll past your villa, eagles soar overhead, and the forest awakens with you each morning. It's magical — you don’t just visit nature here, you become part of it. A heartfelt thank you to the staff. The level of care, warmth, and genuine hospitality is extraordinary. Every interaction felt personal, kind, and sincere. They truly go above and beyond, always with a smile and a kind word. The food deserves its own praise — a delightful blend of Balinese flavors and modern finesse. Every meal was a celebration of freshness and taste. Dining under the stars, with the sound of the ocean nearby, was simply unforgettable. And the spa… an oasis of peace. With the scent of essential oils, the calming breeze, and the gentle sounds of the forest, each treatment felt like a soulful ritual. We left every session feeling restored and deeply relaxed. Plataran is a place we’ll always carry in my heart — not just for its beauty, but for the sense of harmony and connection it brings. I can’t wait to return.

Germany-
Our stay here has been absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere in the middle of the national park is truly special – so peaceful and quiet, with deer grazing right outside our villa and monkeys providing exciting moments, especially for our daughter. The staff have been incredibly warm and welcoming, especially towards our child. There were lovely activities for her and a beautifully natural playground she absolutely loved. The pool is simply spectacular – the largest we’ve ever seen, with stunning views of the sea. The food has been excellent, and the villa itself is luxurious, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully designed – we especially loved the semi-outdoor bathroom, which added a touch of nature to the experience. The snorkeling trip organized from here was another highlight – perfectly arranged, with fantastic reefs around Menjangan Island and so many colorful fish to see. All in all, a magical stay. We’d absolutely love to come back!

PhilippinesIts a 4-5 hour drive from the airport along roads than can be quite narrow and many reckless drivers.
If you are tired of crowded over-touristy Bali, this is the place to go. Located in a national park, the resort is quiet, remote, and very nature conscious. Deer and monkeys regularly roam the premises and can be seen right outside the villas. The Balinese food is excellent and there are plenty of nature based activities: snorkelling, hiking, biking, diving, etc.

AustraliaPeaceful natural environment. So much wildlife. Monkeys, deer, Bali starlings, monitor lizards. Attentive and lovely staff. A wonderful welcome coconut and 5 minute massage after our long drive. Excellent turn down service inclusive of natural mosquito repellants. Beautiful outlook. Incredible spa nestled among mangroves overlooking the ocean. Daily kids activities. Water filter in the room was handy. It felt like a proper escape.

United KingdomNot so much the fault of the accommodation, but the outdoor bathroom is covered but has openings on the sides. It was rainy season and one night it rained so hard everything got soaked - toilet paper, toiletry bags, towels. We had to wade through an inch of water to go to the toilet. It may have been a quirk out our villa (101) as I didn't see the same openings on other villa's bathrooms. The bed was massive and comfortable, but had extra wood to the sides, so in order to get out you needed to scoot a further foot. That might be an issue for anyone with mobility problems
The site is amazing, with individual villas in their own gardens with a veranda. Ours had a plunge pool overlooking the sea where we could watch the deer and monkeys roam. The room was very well appointed with good wifi, the tv worked well, there was plenty of storage. As well there was a water machine in the room, reducing plastic use in line with the ethos of the accommodation. There was a very good coffee maker as well. We had a welcome fruit bowl and lovely room decorations for our anniversary. Each night the villa is sprayed for mosquitos, and we enjoyed very comfortable nights inside our mosquito netting.

AustraliaThere's a few caged animals around the resort as well which I didn't like.

United StatesNot a negative but a suggestion…The only thing I would say is to change the music up at oculus restaurant. It was the same songs on repeat. I only noticed it because we ate there 6 times in 3 days
We loved it so much we booked an extra day. The pictures and descriptions don’t do it justice. The staff is exceptional. The welcome when we arrived was the best we have had in all of Bali and surrounding islands. We have been traveling for 6 weeks here and we move every 3 days. We have seen a lot of different areas and stayed in 14 different places. Upon arriving we were greeted warmly and personally with a flower lei, cold coconut, cold towel, a seat at a beautiful view point from the lobby. They explained the resort to us and escorted us to our room. The room was jaw dropping!!!! I wish I could transport this accommodation back home and live in it permanently. Every last detail was thought out for us. The property is expansive with wildlife all over. The monkeys are not aggressive and delightful to watch. They deer are beautiful and were relaxing just outside the pool. Personal recommendation, do the complimentary daily activities offered by the resort. There is a morning nature walk. I loved the balinese snack making lesson with Tatik and Putu. So fun!!! My favorite experience was Mejejaitan class (ceremonial offerings) with Ariani. She is lovely and explained to me the history and meaning and made me feel so connected to the Balinese culture. It’s experienced like that is what makes this place so special! The staff all around is so pleasant and accommodating in the best of ways!!!!
