The pool was not clean and none of the guests could swim in it. Would be nice if the bathroom was stocked with shampoo and body wash. I also found myself longing for a chair in the bedroom. The only chairs were in the balcony

Great compound, with great rooms. The accommodation has a very nice, rustic, coastal feel. The bathroom was the highlight for me--very tastefully furnished. Excellent location, around 15min walking distance to the beach, with restaurants, cafes, spas within close reach. The staff are very friendly, and give tips on things to do in Bali

As mentioned in other reviews, the beds are quite firm and the curtains don’t block out the light. There is some noise from the road but that’s Canggu for you.

The location and cleanliness of Papaya is fantastic. It’s a basic guesthouse but had everything we needed. Outside of breakfast, guests can use the kitchen and there’s free drinking water. The pool area was well maintained.

Lovely stay in Papaya guesthouse. Returned again after we finished our trip in other places in Indonesia. Gaby and her staff are incredible helpful and friendly. Breakfast is nice and fresh, the best bread (darker brown) in Bali! Will definately recommend this place to all our friends and will stay again when we return to Canggu.

Breakfast was perfect. The owner (whom we had the opportunity to talk to during breakfast) made us feel at home. The bread was the best we tried in Bali, accompanied by homemade marmalade, fresh fruit, and coffee. The location is excellent — although it's on Canggu's main street, it's set back enough that there's no noise. The rooms are spacious and well-designed. You can tell it's a place that's cared for and made with love. Highly recommended.

I loved the location of this place, because it is very difficult to find a quiet place in the central area of Cangu. I liked the overall atmosphere of the place, and the staff is friendly, and I enjoyed every breakfast they prepared. I would definitely recommend it.

This accommodation is truly a hidden gem! Nestled in a quiet and serene setting, it offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Canggu - while still being in an incredibly central location. The lush garden and beautiful pool create a little oasis of tranquility. Our room on the upper floor was bright, airy, and thoughtfully designed, creating a light and welcoming atmosphere. The terrace overlooking the green garden and trees was simply stunning. The place is spotlessly clean - you can tell there’s a European touch when it comes to hospitality. Every detail in the design and setup of the accommodation has been carefully thought out, and you can truly feel the love and dedication behind it. A special highlight was the host, Gaby, the wonderful German owner of the place. She has an incredible presence, and it was a pleasure to spend time with her. She takes the time to connect with her guests and shared fascinating and touching stories about her life. We also loved learning about Balinese culture, local festivals, and traditions from her - all in a relaxed and friendly conversation over breakfast. Speaking of breakfast - it was absolutely delicious and prepared with so much love! The entire staff was super friendly, and it was heartwarming to see how respectfully and kindly Gaby treats her team. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and beautifully run accommodation in Canggu.

The bed in our room was not as comfortable as we would have hoped, and the shower had inconsistent hot water and weak jet. Also would recommend to improve the drainage in the shower.

Staff is kind and helpful, place is very pretty and you can use the kitchen and fridge. Location is great and rooms are quite spacious. I feel is great value for money! The staff cleans your room every day and change towels. Breakfast was okay.

I booked a terrace room but got an upstairs room, not a big deal but would have liked to not have the stairs.

The staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I stayed in an upstairs room with a balcony. The room was very clean and the balcony was big. The bathroom looked new and was clean with ample swimming and bathroom towels. It was very quiet and peaceful. The property is within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The beach is a short scooter ride away.

The location was perfect. We could easily reach everywhere by walking or scooter. The staff were friendly and polite, just like all Balinese people. The breakfast was enough for us. In short, I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

The property is very cosy, just 30min walk from the beach. You will have everything you need there just around the corner. The staff is very friendly, pool is clean and they provide drinking water and also possibility to use kitchen. The host provided us really good tips for our trip, best restaurants and yoga places.

Very light curtains and too much light in the bedroom when sleeping. Still pillows that are too high and hard..even though better than at most places in Indonesia.
