How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe breakfast was great. A platter of fruit and, either a yummy omelette, fried egg or jam and butter on toast. The staff were super friendly and respectful which was lovely and I felt safe during my entire stay ❤
The room could have been aired out better as the musty smell impacted a bit. The exterior of the bin in the bathroom was dirty looking and off putting and the shower water took a very long time to drain.

Verified reviewMangku Jati is a Hindu priest who gave me advice about the temple complex. He keeps his own altar within the meditation hall at the retreat. The meditation hall remains open and he invites travellers to join him for a brief evening prayer ceremony if interested. The location is also wonderful tucked in between homes and small farms beneath Mt Agung with lovely views. Local rainforest walks and even a road walk on the way up to the start of the track to climb the peak are interesting. Plus the room is spacious, the bed large and comfortable and the shower is actually hot. Breakfast is a substantial serving of nasi goreng (friend rice with cucumber tomato and a piece of crisp cabbage plus an egg and or tofu. There’s usually fruit on the table too and fresh water plus fridge and gas cooker to cook something for yourself, eg fresh, inexpensive vegetables. Despite being in a heavily frequented tourist area due to both Besakeih Temple and the climbing routes, walking around here, greeting locals and stopping at tiny warungs felt like a slice of the old Bali.
There are no staff during the day so communications via text can take a while. Mangku Jati is at the temple all day and his lovely wife Nyoman has a shop there close to Pura Gelap the temple at the very top( good place to buy a sarong!) Other guests can leave a mess in the dining area, to the point I did their dishes and donated a washing up bowl. If I come again (I’d like to during a festival) I will be bring my own pot scrubber and tea towel! I also think it’s best to organise your own transport when leaving with a local driver.

Verified reviewIt’s absolutely central and yet restfully quiet. I had a spacious upstairs room, a large comfortable bed, pleasant bathroom, a balcony with fridge and desk, and a second balcony attached entrance with couch and coffee table. There was a lovely view of palms and frangipani into the garden. There was also a nice breakfast of eggs, tropical fruit and coffee and a pleasant secluded pool. It’s not far to walks among the rice paddies and forest and right on a laneway full of stalls under sun umbrellas and little warungs and spas. What I liked best of all is the front section of the property is a traditional Balinese home pavilion with family pavilions and four generations, grandparents, little contented babies being carried, adults and teen aged boys making kites. I caught a glimpse into daily life, the perfect mix between smiles and privacy. I’ll certainly return.
The only difficulty was persuading a taxi to come up the lane to pick me up with (unusually) two bags at a point when Nyoman was not at home to organise. Picture me, 72, on the back of a motor bike with said bags!

Verified reviewWe liked this accommodation, it is located close for those who want to climb Batur. The room is clean and nice. The breakfast was tasty and filling. The view from the window was incredible!
Since the house is very close to the road, there is noise from cars and mopeds. But personally it did not bother us.

Verified reviewThe peace and quiet although it is just a couple of minutes away from the palace and busy and noisy main road. Extra nice staff, delicious breakfast. The garden is blooming with flowers and various plants.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent, right next to Ubud Market. The room was as shown in the photos and free of insects, which was nice.
However, the overall experience wasn’t great. The welcome was cold, and we didn’t receive a proper duvet — just a shared blanket that smelled unpleasant. The bathroom was very humid and had a bad odor. Breakfast was included but not mentioned at check-in, and no one was around in the morning to serve it. A disappointing stay overall.

Verified reviewThe staff was good guy but he could not solve our problem as owner didn't want to speak with us. Its quiet and very nice on the outside.
I would not suggest to anyone: 1) room we entered was as it is on pictures but a lot of thing were not oh photos that are very bad 2) the smell was of old and moisture, totally dirty fan, front doors not closing so small lizards can enter 3) celling was too thin - we could hear lizards all night running and walking on the attic right above us 4) biggest issue is toilets: there is a lot of open space when lizards can come in, and we saw huge lizard 2nd night on the toilet mirror. We somehow locked the door and didn't go inside until morning. this is why we decided to not stay anymore in this place 5) we wanted to go out and speak with manager about the issue and how to solve it, but noone came to speak with us except the stuff, but the stuff guy could not decide anything (he was the only friendly guy). So we just get out of the room and complained on Booking. This never happened to us. 6) this is actually a part of local home which we didn't know, and there are local families living inside the place before our rooms 7) the bike entry is amazingly narrow and difficult to enter

Verified reviewThe place is close to the busy center of Ubud but feels remote. The view of the jungle and rice fields from the balcony is great. The staff is wonderful. Very friendly and helpful.
No WiFi!!! the WiFi/internet service in the room was almost non-existent. Had to spend a lot of time on the front outdoor seating area to get adequate internet service. The room could use more counters for placing our stuff.
