How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI've traveled a lot, but this is honestly the best hostel I've ever stayed at. It's perfect if you want to get away from Canggu and recover from partying. Surrounded by rice fields, and the staff was so kind. The room was totally fine, with a nice outdoor bathroom! The female dorm even had curtains for privacy. They also offer a fun free activity every day that you can join. The food was tasty and affordable. I also met some great people just a super chill vibe, No pressure to do anything, but you're free to do whatever you like :)

Verified reviewI’ve been traveling for over 4 months and this has been without a doubt the best hostel so far. Even tho half was under some construction the remaining facilities were more than enough to entertain me for the days I stayed there.
Leaving. And that I didn’t get to see it in all its glory due to the ongoing construction.
Thank you so much for this amazing review 🙏 We're truly honored to be your favorite stay after months of travel. Your patience and positive energy during our upgrades and our expansion onto the riverside means a lot and we can’t wait to welcome you back so you can experience Nunu in its full glory. Verified reviewThe hostel is lovely and peaceful, with very friendly staff and great daily group activities (yoga not included). Sadly, the pool had too much chlorine, which irritated my eyes and turned my hair green – though the manager responded quickly.
The bigger issue was a neighbour’s wooden windmill with a metal drum that made constant, nerve-racking noise 24/7. At least three other guests also found it disturbing. The neighbour refused to cooperate, but the manager took action and informed local authorities. Despite the team’s best efforts, I left two days early due to stress.

Verified reviewThe hostel itself is truly lovely – the staff were always kind, helpful and welcoming, and the entire property is tastefully designed and well maintained. I especially appreciated the daily free group activities, which were great for meeting other guests.
Unfortunately, two issues outside the team’s control affected my experience. First, the chlorine level in the pool seemed unusually high during my stay, which caused strong eye irritation and even turned my hair green. To their credit, the management responded immediately by having the pool water checked and adjusted. The second issue was much more disruptive: a neighbouring property runs a loud wind mill that made constant noise, day and night. The man operating it was openly hostile when approached and refused to reduce the disturbance, even though it clearly affected other guests. The hostel manager did everything possible – including notifying the local authorities – and even offered to compensate the neighbour, which I advised against to avoid setting a precedent. While I deeply appreciated the staff's efforts, I ended up leaving two days early due to stress and lack of sleep. It’s a shame, because the place and the people truly deserve the best – but these external factors unfortunately made my stay less restful than I had hoped.

Verified reviewThe hostel is beautifully designed, with a peaceful atmosphere and lush surroundings. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive and helpful throughout my stay. I also appreciated the range of daily group activities – especially yoga, which was professionally led (though not included in the room price). Everything felt well-organized and welcoming, making it easy to connect with other guests.
The second and more serious issue was noise from a neighbouring property. A man living next door had installed a wooden windmill with a metal drum that was continuously hit by the rotating blades. The sound of this metal drum being struck, day and night, was incredibly irritating and made it difficult to relax or sleep. While not all guests were disturbed, at least three others I spoke to also found it very unpleasant. The neighbour was unapproachable and refused any discussion. The hostel manager did her best, informing local authorities and even offering financial compensation – which I strongly advised against. Sadly, due to the stress and noise, I decided to leave two days earlier than planned. It’s a beautiful place with wonderful staff – and with some luck regarding external conditions, it could offer a truly restful experience.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience at Nunu. We are truly grateful for your appreciation of our local design, the atmosphere, our team and the group activities. It means a lot to our staff who genuinely care about making each guest feel welcomed and at home. We’re deeply sorry to hear that your stay was disrupted by the noise from the neighboring rice field windmill. This was an unexpected situation that arose very recently and we completely understand how frustrating and unsettling it must have been. The windmill was just installed by a local farmer on the neighboring rice field to deter birds during a particularly challenging harvest season. Unfortunately, its proximity to our hotel and the not normal very strong winds have made the noise far more noticeable than we have ever heard. We’ve already reached out to the farmer to kindly request if it could be moved away to a different part of the field further from our property. This is the first time such a setup has been installed ‘so close’ to our side, and we are actively working with the local community to find a peaceful and respectful solution whilst the weather is so heavy here. We’re very sorry this affected your stay and led to an early departure, it’s certainly not the experience we want for any of our guests. We do hope you might return to Nunu in the future and allow us the opportunity to host you again in the peaceful environment we are known for here in Nyambu. Love Team Nunu

Verified reviewLush and relaxing. You feel like you’re truly in nature. The surrounding village was also amazing. The entire Nunu team was just so lovely and kind. When we got stuck during a group walk during a downpour, someone from the team rode to save us on his scooter and brought us all umbrellas for the walk back. A true hero!
Options for food nearby were limited, but great fresh offerings from the kitchen.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're so happy to hear that you felt relaxed, connected to nature, and well taken care of during your stay. That moment in the rain sounds like the classic Bali rain magic and we’re lucky to have a team that always goes the extra mile (or quick scooter ride!) to make sure our guests feel safe and supported. Thanks for letting us know :) We hear you on the limited food options nearby as it is mainly local Warungs in our village. We do always allow guests food orders in from Grab and Gojek and have some nice options nearby in Cemagi, Pererenan, Seseh, Canggu as well as Nyanyi and Kedungu. All around 15-20 minutes ride. We're always looking for ways to improve the experience, and we’re glad you enjoyed what the Nunu kitchen had to offer in the meantime! Love Team Nunu

Verified reviewI loved the entire resort, it provided the space and vibe to reset, focus on whatever I needed (solitude and and a chance to reset), and also the option to join activities and connect with other guests. The food was fantastic - so if you don't have a scooter, there are options! I loved the location, just not having a scooter made it a little difficult. I do think the sacrifice of convenient location is worth it. The remote-ness makes you feel like you are truly enjoying the landscape and culture of Bali. A nice break from the hectic Canggu city center. I had the best time! So grateful to have had an affordable rest/resort experience.
Hi Rachel, We’re so happy to hear you had a fantastic time resetting and reconnecting at Nunu Bali. Verified reviewBeautiful grounds, friendly helpful staff, on site yoga and other daily activities. Great place to go if you want to relax and do nothing
It was more remote than I realized and rained most of the time which meant activities were canceled including walks to the waterfall which I was looking forward to. It also meant there were limited food options, especially being vegan. I read the menu beforehand and saw that there was decent coffee but the "latte" turned out to be instant coffee (not even the delicious finely ground instant Balinese coffee) and some not very good plant-based milk which felt purposely deceptive, bad instant coffee and milk doesn't make a latte by any definition! I also tried the chia pudding which I make myself and order frequently and it was awful, thick thick peanut butter with heavy coconut cream. The small communal kitchen allows you to prepare your own food but need to get a grab or rent one of their motorbikes to get groceries.
Hi Kelle, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We're really happy to hear you enjoyed the peaceful grounds, our welcoming team, and the on-site yoga and activities. Nunu is indeed a place to slow down, unwind, and reconnect. We’re sorry the heavy rains impacted some of the outdoor adventures like the waterfall and community walk—we know how special that experience can be and hope you’ll get to enjoy it on your next visit when the weather is a little nicer. As for the coffee, we do actually serve freshly ground Balinese coffee and filter it, so we'll ask our team why an instant coffee was used for your latte! This isn't normal from our team. We're grateful for your feedback on the milk, we try our best by supplying Soy, Oat and Almond options which are available to us. We'll also give our chia pudding a try ourselves and thanks for the feedback. Kindly note we do offer vegan shawarma, kebab, tempeh and tofu and vegetarian options on most of our dishes. Kindly just choose this as a protein option instead and we'll make it exactly how you'd like. But thank you, we’ll absolutely take this on board as we continue refining our plant-based offerings. Thanks again for being with us and sharing your perspective—it helps us grow. Love, Team Nunu
