How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Small room and the microphone of the mosque is literally in their garden, so it’s very noisy for praying time.
Very nice and useful staff, very clean location. Me and my friend did the Ijen trek with the company recommended by them and we’ve been happy.

Super close to a mosque so it could get pretty loud, the bed sheets didn’t fit the mattress properly and kept coming off but everything else was nice
Perfect for a place to sleep whilst we were doing our Mt Bromo and Ijen tour. You could book transport and trips through the hostel. Close to some nice places to eat and the staff were super friendly.

Lovely guesthouse with super friendly and helpful hosts. The Ijen tour they organised for us was amazing. Room was on the smaller side but fine for a few nights, and the bathroom and shower were clean. There was drinking water available and a kitchen area that guests could use.

The accommodation was very simple but absolutely fine and had water, kettle, tear,code and kitchen and good breakfast
The best thing about this place is Ana’s amazing organisation and recommendation with your booking. She arranged car pick ups with excellent cars and drivers, mount Ijen tour with our best guide we’d had in Java, Galang, and Sukamade tour to see turtles which we absolutely loved and one of the best things we’ve done since we’ve been here. It wouldn’t be everyone’s choice as the road is very rough in the jeep but again the driver was excellent.

My girlfriend and I have had a delightful stay at Robiu Homestay. From the start, we've been welcomed by Ana who is a very helpful and smiling host. We felt very comfortable in the house where the common spaces were convenient and peaceful. The room was clean and quiet except for the unavoidable early call for prayer. The value for money is definitely excellent! You can stay there with your eyes closed.

Very nice homestay with basic standard and amenities like water, towels or soap. The owner is extremely nice and helpful person! You can buy trips at good prices in hostel! I recommend this place!

I had the room with the fan and not the AC so it was a bit hot but it did not bother me so much. Just be aware when choosing the room
Perfect location to go hike the Ijen. Ana was super nice and available. I recommend it 100%

Beautiful place and people. We felt right at home here. The host answers all our questions, helped book tours, laundry and advice on onward travel. Cool hang out space here too.

The property its lovely and the rooms are very comfortable and cleans ! Ana and the husband are lovely and very helpful ! They really make you feel welcome ! And the location it’s good ! I will definitely come back :) and very recommend !!

For the price you pay it's absolutely perfect, even more. The staff is super nice and helpful, it's quite (expect the prayers at 5am but you know it, it's part of the culture), there is a kitchen, water, tea and coffee, ... We put a 9 just because the bed was really uncomfortable for us (we stayed 3 nights). But we still would go back there ^^

The owners are the loveliest people and will help you with all your questions. The accommodation has everything a backpacker needs, for that money you can’t get anything better.
