Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BangladeshThe fact that I loved it so much, I wanted to extend but the rooms were booked out :) and the hosts cared for me so much, I just felt like it was my home away from home. This property has really nothing NOT to love. One of the Best experiences so far in my solo trip in Bali.
The staff, management, villa, location, everything was so great that i really don’t have any words to explain. Direct view of mount Batur from the bed. Their hospitality, professionalism, support , kindness - everything was a 100 on a scale of 10. Best place in Kintamni.

AustraliaA bit remote, but that’s part of the charm. Many flies, but tbh, there were more in town.
Komang and his family are amazing hosts. Their place is basic, a room, a bed (very fresh sheets), bathroom was private but separate. But they make sure you are looked after. His wife cooks great basic food. He can organise drivers and your trekking/hot springs experience with ease at reasonable price - considering what you’re saving on hotel, it’s a great deal!

United KingdomOur stay was perfect, Komang and his whole family were amazing. They looked after us making sure we were happy helping us with anything we needed. He helped us with organising our trip doing the long route up Mount Batur with our guide Seni who worked very hard looking after the whole group and made it one of our best experiences in Bali. Hopefully will get to come back and stay again!

AustraliaLoved every moment.
Our stay at Mount Batur Homestay was one of the highlights of our trip to Bali. It was a totally immersive experience in a warm family home amongst a farming community. We were welcomed so warmly and treated like part of the family. Originally chose this location to be closer to Mount Batur in order to do the sunrise hike up the mountain. The homestay is nestled in farm land in the shadow of the mountain. Komang, our host, drove us to the start point of the trail with a local guide that he had organised for us. As you leave around 3:30am, Komang offered you a head torch (which you need in the dark) and bamboo walking pole which I recommend using. There are three routes down which you can choose depending on how difficult the path is. Recommend hiking boots or a good pair of sneakers. Price varies according to the route you choose. Komang showed us the day before on a map what to expect. We are an older couple and do not ride motorcycle, so Komang, in his own time, offered to drive us in his car around the area. The viewpoints of the lake and Mountain Abung that he took us to, were amazing, as was the temple on the lake that we visited. We too were taken to the Volcano museum and watched a 20 minute documentary on the history of the volcanic activity. It was really interesting especially after climbing the mountain itself. Put everything in perspective. We appreciated the breakfasts and dinners that Sartina made us 🙏 Walking through the farm lanes and the local village really gave us a feel of the real Bali . Komang also organised us travel on to our next destination. Suksma Sartina and Komang for your warm hospitality and for going above and beyond. We loved our stay at your place and will definitely be back . 🙏

United KingdomKomang and his family were the perfect hosts. He kindly offered to arrange transport from Ubud, which made things much easier. The path leading to the property is a typical village trail but easy enough to walk. I did walk past the homestay at first, but the friendly locals all knew the place and happily pointed me in the right direction. My room was clean, cool, and had a great view of Mount Batur right from the bed, which was a bonus! The dinner options were delicious and fairly priced. There are quite a few flies around, but since you are surrounded by open fields, that is to be expected. I arranged my Batur trek with Komang after I arrived, and the process was smooth. On the night we were supposed to go, it was raining, and Komang suggested postponing to the next day. I’m so glad we did because the view the next morning was perfect. It ended up being just me and the guide, who drove us to the start point by bike before we continued on foot. On the way back down, Komang picked us both up. I was back in before 9 am, so I had time for a lie in before checking out at 12. As for the area itself, the views are incredible, though there is not much else to do nearby. There is a little shop by where the path into the fields and the homestay starts, which had most things. I did manage to get a Grab to Kintamani after waiting about 45 minutes. Getting a Grab back was fairly easy, but be aware that the quicker route is not safe after dark, so you will need to take the longer way back. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quieter stay with easy access to Mount Batur.

DenmarkClose to mt. batur. Amazing family. They can arrange everything for you for a good price. We will recommend arranging your mt batur hiking through the host. Also go to the hot springs. The food at the homestay is great too and very affordable!! Probably the best stay we had here in Bali!

GermanyGreat place to start your Mount Batur exploration from (and avoid the middle of the night pick up). The room was comfortable with hot shower and breakfast included. The owner organized the sunrise hike for myself and another guest at a competitive rate and allowed us plenty of time to relax at the hotsprings after. I would stay here again to explore Kintamani further :)

CanadaThe smallest thing but I don't drink caffeine so I would have loved to see some sort of herbal tea on the menu :)
Truly wonderful stay! We were met with the warmest welcome. The family was so generous and couldn't do enough for us. My partner and I opted to book this spot given we wanted somewhere a little quieter/farther from town but still accessible and this spot was it! You walk down a little farm road off of the main road to get there and all you can hear at night is the sound of crickets. Very, very peaceful. There is also a wonderful little warung a few minutes walk away with the most lovely staff. Hot shower, amazing views of Mount Batur and walking distance to the climbing crag (Bali Climbing Crag). Stay here!

AustraliaThe road to the homestay is narrow and not in good condition. However, they put a sign at the entrance so you can't miss it. Once you see the sign, just follow the track even though you are not able to see the end and wonder if its a dead end :) just follow the track anyway Host and his family are kind to offer transport in and out of the homestay.
I had a lovely stay here. You can see Mt Batur from the homestay. It is close to the starting point of Mt Batur hike so I didn't need to wake up too early for the hike. The host and his family were very kind and helpful. They organised the sunrise hiking tour. It was a great experience and the view was amazing. The hike wasn't too hard but it'll be much easier with proper hiking boots. The host also took me to the Kopi plantation and the lake. They are definitely must-do when you are here. The room was spacious and clean and has everything I need. I saw a lot of reviews about the flies. Yeah they were everywhere but I don't think they were that annoying. They certainly did not affect my experience at all. And you gotta try the omelette the host prepares ! They were so good that I had them everyday. They plant their own vegetables so they were so fresh. They also make me coffee everyday :) I'll definitely stay here again next time and I would recommend anyone who is planning to hike Mt Batur to stay at this lovely place.

PolandThe path to reach the property is not easy. Especially when it's dark and raining.
The place has a good view, the family is super nice. Drinking water station available. Hot water in the shower both on shared and private bathroom. Possibility to order local food. Our room smelled cigarettes so they immediately upgraded us because the room with private bathroom was available. Tasty breakfast with a view. We even got a snow fruit to try.

AustraliaNot a bad thing, but be mindful that the track to the house is quite tricky to navigate if you haven't driven it before.
Absolutely loved staying with this adorable family. Komang and his wife run an impeccably clean homestay, with 4 cozy rooms. We were welcomed with tea and homemade biscuits. Komang organised our Mt Batur climb. His prices are excellent (he could definitely charge more!) and he gave us 3 options for our hike. We chose the longest, because why not, and we were treated to an incredible sunrise, eggs cooked in volcano steam and the friendliest guide we could have asked for. Komang woke with us at 3:30 and provided all our transport. Truly the kindest man we have met in Bali, and we've been many times. Thank you for everything 🙏

BelgiumWe loved every bit of our stay with Komang and Sartchina! Upon arrival, the strangest thing happened: a wasp flew into my boyfriend's ear and Komang had to rush him to the doctor to get it out again. This event turned us into a little family quite fast and we were taken care of so well during the rest of our stay. We were fed fruit, cookies, and many cups of coffee and tea. Komang arranged a great tour for us up to Mount Batur and they fetched us at the hot springs on another day free of charge and even drove us to the market to get some drinks and food. We absolutely loved our stay with these kind and generous people. The homestay is also located in a rural area, a little away from the tourist area of Mount Batur which makes it a very immersive experience. Thank you so much Komang, Sartchina, and family. We had the BEST time and wish you all the best for the future! :)

United StatesThe flies. Prepare thy selves. The flies will make you want to never go outdoors!!! Just bring some repellent :-) Also the location was tough if you’re looking for a taxi but there are local taxis for a bit more than a grab would be. But the pros definitely out weight the cons!!
Oman and his family were fantastic. He went out of his way to make sure we had transportation and a good time everywhere. He helped us set up our trek and hot springs and brought us to both locations. He even let us use his scooter and helped us get a ride to Lovina when we couldn’t find a taxi. The home is in a lovely onion field right at the foot of Mount Batur. It was nice to be out of the hustle and bustlin cities. The facilities are so nice, the bed was huge!! Breakfast and coffee were included each day of our stay and Oman is always keen for some karaoke! We loved our stay here and are so grateful to Oman and his fam!
