How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

One little improvement would be a shower curtain in the bathroom:) The beach is on the other side of the main road. I wasn't comfortable crossing by foot (traffic is insane!), but it only takes 5mins by grab bike! I'm critical and stayed in many places in Bali. This one is a gem:)
My last and best stay in Bali! Great value! The owners are the best, so kind and the essence of Bali hospitality. I arrived too early for check in, and while I was having lunch they messaged me when my room was ready. My suitcases were already in the room when I arrived. The room is beautiful, similar or better than the pictures! It's more like a boutique hotel than a homestay. Super clean and smelled great. They've thought of all the little details: a drinkwater purifier (no need to stock up on bottled water!), mirror light, towel rack, sockets everywhere, both bright and dimmed lights. Well maintained property. On the main road, but I barely heard any traffic from my room (no. 7 at the back). Not sure about the rooms in front. The little terrace was nice to drink coffee or chill. Felt safe and private overall (especially nice as a solo female traveler). I only stayed 3 days, but I imagine it would be great to stay longer too. There's a dining nook, plates and cutlery, a wardrobe and plenty of space to put your stuff, a fridge, and a hot plate+pan to cook. Bed and pillows are very comfy (a rare combo in many stays) Great wifi!

Next to big road so sometime can get a little noisy but after first night you will get used to it, no problem!

Being picky as all fabulous, but a bigger pan to cook would have been good.
A fabulous place. Lovely setting, well thought out and planned. Very clean. Owners are fabulous, very helpful. Location is good being 15 min walk from main shopping and eating, as is beach. A/C good. Nice to have a stove top to be able to cook own food. WI-FI good.

Not their fault, but the place is located on the main road and it's tough to cross the street. The noise didn't reach my room though, which is great. The toilet would benefit from a window (not sure about the other rooms, but mine didn't have it).
Beautiful room, very clean, comfortable bed and good internet. The hosts are the best, extremely friendly and helpful.

The family at Mesari were the friendliest and most helpful people I have come across in Bali. The room was clean and comfortable and fitted out with thoughtful extras such as cooking facilities, plates and cutlery.

I loved my host, so accommodating and friendly. The property was always clean. There was a little noise from the onsite birds and traffic from the street but I rarely heard any of the other guests.

Quite the exceptional property. Everything was spotless. New, well thought out and made to function well. Edwin and his wife take hospitality to another level. Their experience working in a 5 star hotel shows. The cleaning staff are the best I’ve seen in all or my travels. The birds that are kept nearby are a delight to wake up with each morning.

Nothing. Everything was great.
The family who run this homestay are so friendly and kind but they also respect your privacy. Nothing is too much trouble. It is clean and welcoming. Close to Sanur beach but quiet. Bed is comfortable. There is a smart TV. Extremely fast and reliable internet. And they stored my bags for 4 days for free while I went to Lombok and Gili Air. I 100% recommend them.

The hosts were so welcoming, friendly and very helpful to make it an enjoyable stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, it had everything you could need. If we needed anything, we just had to ask the hosts.

Mesari Homestay is truly a Home Away from Home. The owners hospitality is among the best we’ve ever experienced, warm & friendly people who really puts in the effort to make sure you are comfortable! The room has everything you need, both short term and long term. Ability to cook simpler meals, hot water showers, cool AC, great WI-FI and the cleaning was absolutely spotless, 10/10. And the style of the place is absolutely beautiful! It can be tedious finding a good place to stay in Bali for a reasonable price, but this place was so perfect that we ended up extending our stay 2 more weeks. Will stay again next time we are in Bali! Thank you for everything. 🙏🏼

We had the pleasure of staying with this wonderful family for about a month, and everything was seamless from start to finish. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed. If we ever required anything, all we had to do was asking Tika and Edwin, and they would take care of it within minutes. They are the true stars of our stay! Out of the nearly 40 countries we’ve visited, they stand out as some of the most exceptional hosts we’ve ever met! 🙏🏻 Their kindness, attentiveness, and unwavering hospitality went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Always respectful and incredibly warm, they made us feel completely at home 🥰 We feel truly fortunate to have met this amazing family and to now call them friends. Thank you for everything!

The room was clean and fresh, it had all you could need. The hosts were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable stay. As it was New Year’s Eve, they’d even prepared some complimentary cakes. Would highly recommend.

The staff was incredible they answered all of our questions very quickly. They allowed us to check in early and were very helpful during the whole trip I couldn’t recommend this place more. Great location close to the beach and all of the shops and restaurants. Place was very clean with great wifi I honestly had 0 complaints I would highly recommend this place!
