Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Perfect stay at a beautiful house in a small village. Made is a great host, speaks fluently English and can tell you all about Bali and surroundings. He lives with the family in the house behind Mertha house. The family cleans, makes breakfast and lunch or diner if you want. They are very friendly.

United Kingdomthe master bedroom had a slight smell of damp or mustiness. I think its because there is no external window in that room. But honestly it didnt bother me as I was outside unless I was sleeping.
I thought that I had booked a room in the Villa. The penny only dropped that the whole place was mine when I asked when the other guests were arriving and was met with a puzzled look. Its crazy as one night for a whole two bed villa with a pool and garden was less than a night at Travelodge at home. I was here to climb Mount Batur so didnt have a car to get around. There is a small walk to the main road and it looks like there are shops and a takeaway chicken but I was determined to make the most of the private garden and pool so didnt leave the Villa other than to climb the Mountain. The host was very sweet and helpful. There was a welcome drink on arrival and she explained there is a menu which you can order via whatsapp and agree the time for the food to arrive. I ordered food and drink each day. Price isnt expensive and the food was very tasty. In the evening you text what you want for breakfast the next day and the time and voila, it arrives. Because its a private villa you have total privacy once you shut the garden gates. No one disturbs you at all. The local area is quiet so you dont hear much noise. I would highly recommend staying here if you are wanting to climb the mountain but also want to relax afterwards.

AustraliaNothing.
We had breakfast every morning prepared and cooked beautifully and to our liking. Made and Komang made us feel especially welcome each day, engaging with us regularly and could not do enough for us. We felt like they became almost family to us and met their extended family who were all so gracious. A beautiful relaxing location with all amenities you could ask for. The Merta House is exceptionally beautiful and comfortable with an outdoor kitchen and eatery. Jasan Village consists of beautiful people who are all very kind. We loved the nightlife here in the way of frogs and lizards which was especially calming. I can't recommend this Village and villa enough for a relaxing experience.

TurkeyA last minute 1 night booking couldnt be better than this. The villa is very comfortable, the staff is super friendly, the manager gave us very useful tips about our mountain trip, and they prepared a breakfast package for our sunrise trip. The price and location is also very good.

I love how big the property. It could actually fit 2 families. It is away from noise. The pool is big enough. The rooms are so huge too. We stayed there until new year, the family really give their best to accommodate our needs. FAMILY, the wife and husband are so generous and kind.

SpainFelt like a king staying here! The place is exceptionally good and the family that run it are too. From the moment I arrived I was overwhelmed with how wonderful it is. I was lucky enough to get a massage in my stay here that Madi arranged, the massage was 1st class, and I am a massage practitioner (15yrs) with high discernment. I am so grateful for this stay, in the most beautiful house, they really made it my home. Thank you to Madi and his family for their hard work, excellence, and big kindness. My only regret is that I had a short stay.

AustraliaI looked for something to fault and came up empty. That is usually not the case. Best experience.
On arrival met by lovely Made in traditional dress. Introduction to Villa very thorough and welcoming. Food cooked by Komang (Mades wife) is wonderful especially my favourite dish in bali Satay Lillet. The ambience is just beautiful. Made arranged wonderful trips for us. Wayan drove us and took care of us on adventures to our destinations over three days with wonderful stops on the way. The most amazing was the spiritual water ceremony. Wayans knowledge and thoughtfulness was and is highly regarded. Highly recommend.

Hong KongThere was no request to big or to small, which was always met promptly with a smile & a friendly face. Even assistance with my elderly mobility challenged mother was available - really nothing to complain about!
The breakfast was lovely, all handmade and served alfresco in the garden. The Villa is very spacious with a large pool and absolutely stunning gardens - remember to check out the night jasmine in the evenings by the property entrance. Beds are comfortable, staff are attentive without being intrusive. Komang does a wonderful job with Housekeeping & Cooking whilst Mede is the Host with the Most, a fabulous driver, full of suggestions and very flexible. We were very happy to be included in a village ceremony and enjoyed being in a family community, away from the more touristy areas of central Ubud. Birds, dragon flies, greenery, space, slightly cooler than central Ubud & the smell of the jungle combined with fast wifi, satellite TV & beautiful architecture & design. Impossible not to relax with such a wonderful family in a beautiful Villa. Top Secret - ask Mede about the fabulous newly finished Jungle House in the Trees!

MalaysiaEverything was perfect! We had the most fantastic and relaxing experience. If we had a bit more energy (as this was our last stop in Bali) we would have loved to organise some of their adventure tours such as cycling through the forest and others. Would definitely put that on our next trip!
We organised for the host to pick us up from our previous accommodation and the transportation fee was the most reasonable out of all the transportation arrangements we have encountered in Bali. Turned out that the host also runs the Ubud guide and driver service. We got to experience some amazing unique local and cultural experiences during our visits, including visiting a local nearby market, participating in a Balinese temple ceremony, trying out local snacks and food, and riding through the magnificent local rice fields. Jasan village is a friendly and peaceful village beside Sebatu and is about 15-20 minutes from Tegalallang by scooter. The breakfast included was super delicious and the host always checked on us to make sure that we were taken care of. It was easy to just spend a day in this gorgeous, traditional villa chilling as the space is so serene and zen.

What a beautiful villa. And the design of the interior of this villa is very Balinese inspireret and the host is so sweet and accommodating. Mr Made is an abundance of local knowledge and he can arrange anything you might need. This stay was the absolute best of the places we have been staying for our month long vacation in Bali. Thank you so much Mr Made and Komang❤️
