Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Beautiful, quirky, accomodation, located perfectly at the foot of Mount Batur, very short walk to lake Batur. Surrounded by lovely local warungs and little supermarkets. The staff at Manik Tirta were extraordinarily kind and helpful! Breakfasts simple, personalised and light belt. Just a great experience from all perspectives. Spotlessly clean and well tended! Can’t wait to go back, felt so welcome and at home

GermanyThis was my second time staying here, and it was even more special than the first. The room was as clean, spacious, and comfortable as I remembered, and the location is ideal—quiet, but with everything I needed nearby. What truly sets this place apart is the warmth of the hosts. They treated me like family—sharing meals, spending time together, and making me feel genuinely welcome. It’s rare to find that kind of connection when traveling. I also loved having easy access to the nearby trailhead—went hiking there multiple times and it was the perfect way to unwind. Staying here feels less like booking a room and more like being invited into someone’s home. I’m grateful for the experience and already looking forward to my next visit.

AustraliaFlies. That’s a given in the area though. No biggie
Right in the bottom of Mt Batur for the sunrise hike. The couple can organise your guide. They are so down to earth, friendly and super helpful with whatever you need. Clean, beautiful rooms. Hotspring pool in your front door. Yummy friend rice made in their kitchen. The couple do all the upkeep and has done amazingly 🤩

AustraliaCertainly! Here’s a polished and natural-sounding rewrite of your review: ⸻ We had a perfect four-night stay here. The family was warm and welcoming, always ready to help if we needed anything. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the gardens beautifully maintained. We especially loved the thermal pools—some rooms even come with their own private ones! Our massages with Kadek were fantastic, and we left feeling healthy, relaxed, and completely refreshed. Each morning, we enjoyed delicious banana pancakes with our coffee—a lovely way to start the day. Laundry was easy to arrange, and it’s just a short walk to nearby restaurants. The family can also help organise transport and tours to the mountains and other local attractions. Highly recommended as a lovely place to stay—excellent value for money!

Estoniafirst to mention is undrinkable coffee - bring your own. also be good idea to make your own tea/coffee before hiking. the guide, that was provided from hotel (no need to prebook) do not provide any hot drinks, also 1 bottle of water you have to carry up by yourself. guide offered on top only dry white bread slices (no butter, salt), 1 cold boiled egg and small bananas. 350000 per person. the hardest way up is much shorter and not too hard. we are 55-60 years office-based employees and went up with 1,5 hours. down we game with easiest way and it took more than 2 hours. bring the sun blocker. the village around is dusty and nothing to look at. fancy restaurants and viewpoints around 10-15 km.
bed was comfortable, take the flashlight to go to dinner. several options nearby but do not expect something fancy. the road noise is constant throw night. thanks god, our accommodation is not on the main road. but still traffic. if you anyway have a plan to go to the sunrise hike, you have to get up about 3:30. that was incredible, was the hot water pool and same natural hot water from shower. flies in April were not too annoying. the sunrise hike was very satisfied. take time up there on the mountain top wall and make the pictures.

ItalyI loved staying in Manik Tirta. The cabin is so cosy, the place is so peaceful and the natural hot spring pool is absolutely amazing! The owner is so kind and welcoming, same as his wife and his son that help him run the business. All is very well organized and clean. Breakfast is included but no other meal is served because of the complaints they received in the past due to the presence of many flies (typical in this area around the lake). But don't worry because there are several restaurants where you can have a delicious meal as well as supermarkets. The pool is open from early morning till night and water is changed daily. Water is naturally hot as it comes from the springs and no chemicals are added. The owner can also help you booking the hike to see the sunrise on Batur volcano. I did the excursion and I was very satisfied. The price was fair and the guide cared so much about me. He even took me by the hand and helped me on the most difficult part of the track and checked all the time how I was doing, slowing down and stopping when I needed. The track starts directly from the resort, at 3:30am, following a path in the wild. You will be provided with water and a head torch, so don't worry. At the arrival you will be offered boiled eggs, banana and a banana sandwich. Hot beverages are not included but are for sale on the place by local vendors, so take some cash with you (30K per drink). Bring a wind jacket and warm clothing because you will arrive quite sweaty at the top where the wind is strong and the temperature low. In case you can rent a blanket by local vendors (50K per blanket). I recommend you to spend minimum 2 nights here, in order to be able to enjoy the full experience and visit also the surrounding point of interest.

IndonesiaThere were a group of other guests who were doing karaoke from the moment they arrived (2pm) all the way until 10:30pm. This group brought their massive speaker and their karaoke kit and set it up by the pool. Apparently it is a common thing around the area, not just at this hotel. Even after they stopped their karaoke session, they still laughing and screaming in the pool til midnight. Our family left early the next day because at 7:30 am this other group started setting up their speaker again and played their music. It was very unfortunate as the place was so lovely and the quietness was ruined by other guests who can’t respect other guests.
Great location, close to eateries and shops. Well-kept garden. Great-sized natural hot pool. The owner is very friendly, honest and helped us with our inquiries. Good value for money.

Hong KongExactly as advertised with everything you need. We had a short stay, but it was very memorable. The host helped arrange a sunrise hike and was very quick to answer questions. Despite the area in general being infested with flies, the hosts somehow managed to keep them out of the room. The hot spring pool was also wonderful.
