Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe only small downside was the food at the restaurant which was okay but not as good as in other hotels we visited.
Amazing hotel in the mountains. We booked the villa which was actually almost the same price as the standard rooms - it was great! The rooms are lovely with a view over the rice terraces. The team already welcomed us at the parking lot and very warmly welcomed us with flowers and cold drinks. The whole staff was exceptionally friendy. Great hidden hotel!

AustraliaLots of stairs, but that's the price you pay for the view.
A beautiful setting high above the valley. Although the resort is relatively isolated; the food is excellent and affordable, the staff are lovely, and the coffee exceptional. There are plenty of local walks and waterfalls to stay busy for a few days, or hang around the pool. What more could you want for a holiday. Special thank you to Erna and Gita (I think) the trainee, and the wonderful barista.

AustraliaMaha Hills is an incredible resort. Situated in the stunning hills of North Bali, you are truly in a tropical paradise. The best thing about this beautiful resort is the staff. Without a doubt, they provided the finest service we have received on a holiday. Mr. Teher and his team were absolutely incredible and will take very good care of you on your stay. The staff make guests feel truly welcome and comfortable and are on hand to facilitate any bookings, outings, or anything else you may need. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The villas provide a luxury escape with a Balinese twist, and the grounds and interiors are maintained to a high standard. Being in the hills was beautiful and lush, with incredible jungle plants and striking tropical flowers. The resort fits perfectly into this stunning landscape, and we loved the views from the rooms, the amazing pool, and the restaurant. As with everything at Maha Hills, the food was exceptional, and the service was excellent. The spa, Soendaram Divine and Retreat was the ultimate in luxury, and we highly recommend trying the treatments on offer there. The resort also offers cultural activities, with extremely knowledgeable staff from the local area sharing their time and skills. Again, we would highly recommend partaking in these offerings. Thank you to all staff at Maha Hills, we really can't wait to come back and visit this beautiful part of Bali again and stay at your fabulous resort.

AustraliaEverything about our stay exceeded expectations. The most outstanding feature was the friendly, accomodating staff. Our room and bathroom were both very large and the bed was very comfortable. The facilities and room were very clean. The pool area is very relaxing and has the most beautiful views. There are a lot of stairs to get to the pool and restaurant but it just means you're more rewarded for the Bintang or cocktail at the end. Not suitable for frail. For those complaining about insects... you're next to a tropical jungle. Go somewhere else if you don't want to experience nature. The restaurant is also very good. Breakfast is generous and lots of options to choose from. The quality of the dinner was also excellent. We stayed for 3 days and wish we could have stayed for longer. The location is a bit remote but the staff helped us to book transfers to Lovina for dinner. We spent our days hiking to local waterfalls and also went canyoning and walking through the rice fields. Thank you to all the beautiful people working at Maha Hills and for making us feel welcome.

United StatesWe found the staff to be exceptionally kind and well-intentioned — however, at times, the level of attentiveness felt a bit overwhelming. For example, the same team member would greet us multiple times within short periods, which, although friendly, began to feel excessive. During meals, staff members we hadn’t previously interacted with would often approach our table to ask personal questions like where we were from or what we had done that day. While we appreciate the effort to connect, it occasionally disrupted our dining experience and felt somewhat intrusive, especially when it wasn’t coming from our designated server. One team member in particular — a manager at the front desk — stood out for her extremely enthusiastic and persistent approach. Her high-energy demeanor, high-pitched voice, and repeated questions throughout the day made it difficult to feel relaxed. Eventually, we found ourselves avoiding the reception area just to maintain a sense of calm and privacy. We truly appreciate the warmth and hospitality, and we’re sharing this in the hope it helps the team find a more balanced approach — one that respects guests’ space while still delivering the exceptional service they’re clearly aiming for.
Really nice place with beautiful view from the restaurant at the top. The rooms have not much view even though pictures on booking showed different, but rooms were spacious and nice. Great getaway to enjoy nature and peace all around. Better to book your own car because they charge x3 times since the location is remote.

Czech RepublicA place that you will simply fall in love with, not only because of its location, but mainly because of the amazing views, the restaurant with a swimming pool where they will prepare delicious meals for you (especially excellent multi-course breakfast) and last but not least the very nice staff who will do everything you can think of. Thank you so much Desya for the great service, for the advice and tips for excursions and also for the unforgettable card show! I will definitely be back next time.

TurkeyAlcohol prices could be a little more affordable.
From the moment we made our reservation, we experienced such warm and attentive communication with the hotel. They even offered assistance with transfers before we arrived, though we didn't end up using that service. Since we were on our honeymoon, we were greeted with beautifully decorated towels and natural leaves on the bed celebrating our special occasion. The hotel offered daily meditation sessions and yoga on certain days, and the staff member who led these activities was incredibly kind and attentive. We also participated in a workshop for creating traditional temple offerings, which was such a delightful experience. On our departure day, there was a Bali dance workshop that we, unfortunately, couldn't attend due to time constraints. The meals were absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of healthy options for breakfast. The entire staff was incredibly polite, quick to respond to any request within minutes, and made us feel truly special. Overall, the combination of excellent service, a peaceful atmosphere, and thoughtful touches made our stay unforgettable.

United Arab EmiratesWaking up in the middle of a jungle, surrounded by lush green hills, felt like stepping into a dream. The view from my villa – with a stream flowing just beside it – was simply breathtaking. It’s the kind of place where nature and design blend perfectly. Everything felt peaceful, private, and deeply connected to the land. What really stood out was the energy of the people. Every single team member had this warm, genuine vibe – like they actually cared. Their kindness was effortless, not forced. It felt like being truly looked after. And the food? Wow. Easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve had anywhere in the world – not just tasty, but made with love and fresh, local ingredients. You could tell the chef puts heart into every meal. It’s a place that grounds you. Where you stop scrolling and start noticing. The air, the sounds, the light – everything invites you to slow down and feel. Honestly, it’s more than just a hotel – it’s an experience I’d repeat in a heartbeat.

United States-The first day that I arrived they had put an essential oil burner on in the room and the room was smelling quite strongly of jasmin which was lovely. But eventually the oil burner finished and after that I could smell mould. By day 3 of my stay, that smell had grown to be very pronounced. It wasn't till day 4 where I found where it was coming from. The bottom of the blind/curtain was completely covered with black mould. :( For a wellness center, I had just been sleeping in a room which was incredibly bad for my health. Very disheartening. -Some of the staff at the restaurant were rude and unhelpful to say the least. For example, I am diabetic so need to have sweetener with my tea and not sugar. I asked for it at breakfast (I saw it in the room so knew that they had it) and was told that they didn't have it. I explained that they I had seen it in my room and if they could just check in the back. They basically kept sending different servers over saying that they couldn't do anything about it-and they were aggressive about it. I refused to accept that (this is a 4 star resort for goodness sakes) and a minute later, voila, there was the sweetener. Over the course of my 5 day stay, there were quite a few instances where I experienced a sense of rudeness and lack of professionalism and I disliked having to go there (this was the only restaurant for miles so it's not as if I had much of a choice). Let me be clear, some of the staff at the restaurant were lovely but some of them emitted a bored contempt for their guests. Very disappointing.
There were soo many things to LOVE about my stay at Maha Hills Resort. -I loved my room. It was absolutely gorgeous and the welcome with the egg on the bed was so lovely! -The bathroom was to die for. That tub! Omg!! -Loved having Alexa play music. Felt like a treat to have that option. -Really appreciated being able to give my clothes for laundering. -The staff at the reception was incredibly helpful and kind. The massages were heavenly (I had 3) -I had hurt my leg a day before I arrived and they made sure to have either a scooter or a car drive me up to the restaurant. (which was at the top of a 150 step staircase)
