Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe new "bar" area organised at the edge of the resort is nice, but the roads next to it are getting busier and noisier (you cannot see them, but you can hear the traffic), which spoils a bit the eternal quiet of the jungle.
This is our second time, a returning guests. It is a unique gem of traditional Java style houses, a picture postcard perfect gardens looking in every direction, a view of active volcanoes.

United KingdomThe only suggestion I would make is to maintain the gym area a little bit more, with closed windows to avoid mosquitos, and the swimming pool area with maybe an updated filtration system, as the water doesn't look very inviting to swim.
We loved everything about our stay. The room, the lovely staff, the excellent food, afternoon tea and snacks on the veranda of the clubhouse, drinks in the plantation lounge with the pool table, the fantastic spa and the beautiful grounds were perfect.

To be honest everything was totally perfect at this resort. We were in awe of the location, its accommodations and rooms when we arrived. The personnel was very helpful and they wanted to make us feel at home. The yoga in the morning and breakfast were a very good way to start our day. The tour over the coffee plantation was also super interesting, thank you again Lily! And during dinner you should really try out the chef’s specials!

United StatesA beautiful property with gorgeous, mature gardens full of plants and trees unknown to us in the USA. Very much appreciated the traditional Javanese furnishings, large rooms and great views (a treat after several days in nice, but could-be-anywhere, modern hotels). Enjoyed walking the grounds of Mesa Stila and also the paths into nearby towns where we saw sights and ways of life most tourists don't get to see. Mesa Stila provided us a guide who took us on a long walk to a waterfall, exploring gorgeous rice paddies and other agricultural features as we strolled, and also saying hello to villagers who welcomed us and smiled for photos. Meals at Mesa Stila were very, very good. Service from staff was excellent. We received great massages at the handsome spa that opens out on to the jungle. Enjoyed just sitting quietly and looking at the surrounding mountains. We recommend this place and will return.

AustraliaThe only down side for us was the beds in our villa, which were a little firm, and the pillows which were too soft.
Spacious villas set in an peaceful cool mountain setting with plentiful birds and wildlife. We loved the beautiful old colonial style buildings. The resort offers excellent daily activities including yoga. The food was outstanding and served in delightful surroundings by staff that were incredibly friendly. The chefs are excellent. Jamu was I included on the breakfast menu for free. Afternoon tea served in the pool room and deck was generous and unique every day. Special mention must be made of the spa and massage facility which was of a standard unequalled.

IndonesiaIt’s not always first Come first serve, the staff make us wait for foreign guest and make us serve behind, even we come first, we sad maybe because we are local. Really bad first impression, first time happen to me in 5 stars resort. We book arum villa , and we get plantation villa according a photo On booking.com. We complained and then get the right one like on the photo you put on Booking.com Please Mesastila Reservation team check again Photo in every OTA photo, The View only have mountain on arum villa (no others ) and Bathroom photo before only have mezzanine bathtub. Open your extranet and checklist the right one Open your chanel manager make more option room and choose right photo.
The place was great, the Villa clean and the nature atmosphere really amazing. I just wanna get my instant noodles and eat on their balcony. The Gardener, and bogey driver was nice.

Indonesiawe wanted to explore mt telomoyo, but the resort price is too high. taking too much profit. cost for telomoyo jeep is IDR 400-700 k. with car transport may be add idr 350 k. but mesa stila charge more than Idr 2 million. wifi is also not working in the room with the high room rate n green initiative and location far from convenience stores, there should provide water dispenser/ water jug. they only provide 2 plastic bottle of water.
room is huge. I chose mesa stila due to to its role as race village for mesa stila race.

United KingdomNoisy - traffic noise from the main road, the music carried up from the local village, (as well as many muezzins). On our second night a large group staying held a karaoke party in the outdoor dining area with a live band and huge speakers. It boomed across the entire resort including inside our room. After a couple of hours a staff member finally agreed to contact the manager. He promised to stop the event, then kept telling us “this is the last song” - it was all nonsense. If you’re looking for a peaceful hotel which shows any consideration for or respect to their guests, avoid.
Spa and food in restaurant were good. Visit for those and avoid staying here and you’ll be fine.

United Kingdomvery remote and pretty long drives to see anything. Mr & Mrs Smith website implies near Yogyakarta- it’s not. room I stayed in was shabby, peeling paint everywhere, lighting too poor to read. corners of the room ( where you need to reach an electrical socket) dirty. very very buggy. I can understand why you don’t want to fog the beautiful grounds but the rooms need daily fogging.
beautiful views, beautiful pool, spa and common areas

MacaoFront office staff and hotel manager had a bad attitude problem. Despite the IDR 10m we spent for one night’s food, accommodation and tips, it felt like staying in a hostel with their inflexible rules and truculent attitude. Then the sting in the tail was an IDR 50,000 breakage charge for one small, ordinary glass tumbler in the room. This despite the fact we left an IDR 100,000 tip for housekeeping in the room next to the broken glass. But ignoring this (and many other) tips we distributed while staying at the property, it is just beyond belief that a hotel of this category and in this price bracket would choose to levy breakage charges for minor glassware or crockery. I can’t see how we or any other guests would ever want to return to this hotel again.
Outstanding F&B quality in the Java Red restaurant. Lovely view and evocative plantation buildings. Nice pool.
