Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandWe stayed in the family room with elevated sleeping area for our adult son and daughter. It was a beautiful cottage with a fantastic stone outdoor bathroom. We snorkelled off the beach out front of the hotel. The swimming pool and garden were also gorgeous

SwitzerlandThe upstairs room is hot, despite the aircon.
The hotel was small and quiet, with lovely gardens. The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. The snorkeling from the beach was excellent and we saw a lot of beautiful fish and corals. The bungalow was tastefully decorated.

AustraliaWe couldn’t fault it.
The food at the hotel was amazing! We ate breakfast lunch and dinner there because it was just so good. Probably the best grilled Mahi Mahi I have ever tasted. Also location couldn’t be better, a little out of town which made it quiet, the sandy beach right out front where you could go snorkeling was crystal clear.

United KingdomThe roosters at 4am! But the hotel provides earplugs! A bit expensive for the area.
Little haven in a lovely authentic fishing village. Location on the beach. Beautiful gardens and cottages. Delicious breakfast. Great swimming pool.

United StatesBecause the hotel is small, and large group occupied the entire pool area. Not the hotel's fault, but something to be aware of.
I loved the ocean view cottage and hearing the sounds of the waves in addition to the excellent snorkeling right off the beach. The cottage was comfortable, and the grounds were lovely. Staff were excellent, helpful, and professional. Really a great stay!

United StatesThe bed was super cozy. Access to the beach was really nice. There are fishing boats just outside the door coming back from gathering fish in the mornings. It’s really a beautiful site to see. The food was exceptional and fresh. The entire staff keeps you feeling right at home. Including in room dining if you want. Also close to Japanese ship wreck for snorkeling and diving!!!

HungaryIt was not the hotel's fault that there was a party going on at the next house several times during our stay and the music was louder, and it is typical of the karaoke genre that drunk people think they can sing.
The less touristy location is in Amed. If you are not looking for hustle and bustle it is perfect. There are only few hotels in the area where you can walk directly into the sea (except between 7 and 8 in the morning when the fishermen arrive). Great food in the restaurant! Flexible and helpful staff, the pool and surrounding area is kept clean at all times. The atmosphere is family friendly. No need to buy drinking water from the shop, as they have giant balloons in the rooms and will change it without a word if needed. There is also a small gift shop where we found jewellery and souvenirs at reasonable prices.

AustraliaWalking into Life in Amed, is like walking into paradise. The garden and pool area is picturesque. The property and gardens are well maintained. We stayed in a cottage and then moved to a 2 bedroom villa. The cottage is clean and cosy, with pool views. I love the villa, it is so spacious and beautifully presented. It has ocean views and a private garden. The staff are friendly and helpful. We dined at the restaurant on several occasions. The food is delicious and healthy. I love the 2 friendly house cats. There is an amazing spot to snorkel, from the beach near the hotel. My husband and I were surprised by the amount of coral and marine life at this location. It is spectacular, with very few people snorkelling. I noticed a sign at Lipah Beach which read "the best snorkelling spot", I'd have to disagree. The best snorkelling spot is near Life in Amed, by far!

BelgiumNo real beach, but that's the area. No kettle or fridge in the room. Bed was a little hard for us.
Great location, calm but plenty close by on a scooter. Rooms were very big, with a nice seating area outside. Breakfast offered lots of choices. Loved the outside shower. Big FAT cat at reception. Lots of care maintaining and looking after the resort.

New ZealandThe location is a little out of the way if you don’t want to eat at the onsite restaurant. There are a couple of warungs nearby. We liked Mad Made’s. Lipah beach has more options and is only a 10-15min walk or 5mins in a scooter.
The villas are exquisite. We loved everything about them. We stayed in a 2 bed villa which was right on the beach. Was great to watch the fishermen come in each morning. It’s a really chilled out space and I would return in a heartbeat. The Breakfast options were delicious and the choice more than adequate to satisfy a few days. Would highly recommend.

NetherlandsThe location is not on Amed Beach, it’s about 15 minutes away by car - the road is small and bumpy. We were right by the beach and were woken by cockerels/ roosters making a lot of noise early in the morning (4.45am!). Bathroom is a little old, needs updating.
We had the two bedroom villa right by the beach with our small baby. It was lovely. The pool is very nice. We really enjoyed the food in the restaurant, good options for lunch & dinner. Included breakfast was good. Staff were all very friendly and responsive.
