Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf you are going to stay here - you need transport. So you can hire out a moped at a reasonable cost from the owners or use taxis. Take a translation book with you as communication was sometimes a little tricky. Maddie and Danny were happy to take us to a Manta Ray boat trip that was an amazing experience for us.( and pick us up later!)
Steve and l had a lovely stay in this accommodation.( 5 nights) We were made to feel so welcome on arrival by Maddie and her daughter who are delightful with a cold drink and being asked about breakfast. Particularly enjoyed the spicy noodles and egg ! The bed was comfy and AC and Wi fi were good. We even tried the local fish cooked for us and home grown corn on the cob from Dannys delightful father.

The family you stay at is very lovely. The cottage is very comfortable and had an amazing night of sleep. Because I stayed alone and did not have a motorbike they even dropped me off to go for dinner and picked me up. Also dropped me off at the harbour. Would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomThe water (sink and shower) in the bathroom is salt water. It’s ok but they didn’t warn us about this. I made a very salty coffee! We rented a scooter from evening of 23rd to evening of 25th. They counted this as 3 days despite it being a 48 hour period. I guess a miscommunication but everywhere we’ve been before then it’s based on per-24-hour-period. Eventually they gave us “discount” after a lot of back and forth but we still had to pay more than what we were expecting. The owners arranged us taxi over to another hotel near Amok sunset bar and it cost 400k!! We didn’t have a choice but to pay it, but we were definitely overcharged because our second hotel only charged 300k back to Buyuk harbour. One of the two nights we were there we were woken up at about 2am and 4am by their dog barking really loudly outside the room. The other night it was fine.
Lovely quiet location off the main road, with very beautiful little garden. The room was nice - clean, bed comfortable, kettle. The seating area outside the cabins is great to relax in the evenings and they bring breakfast there to you in the morning. Breakfast was simple yet tasty. Owners were really welcoming and the drink on arrival was a nice touch.

PakistanThere was no housekeeping and other maintenance staff. The entire cottage was managed by a single lady who could not understand English well. For any query, her most frequent response was "Sorry"! Some of the furniture was also broken in the rooms. Considering that the location of the cottage was a bit remote, the cottage should have offered the option for lunch and dinner. Only breakfast was available with minimal options. The water was saltish and there was no water heater.

Czech RepublicThe room is spacious and really nice. Just have on mind that the property is kind of far away from everything. I don’t have driving license so it was a bit expensive for me to rent drivers all the time. The location is also a big plus if you’re looking for a calm place. In the bathroom there goes salty water from the tap and shower. The breakfast could be better - at least to add some fruits to French toast or yoghurt. Serving just 4 pieces of toast with a bit of chocolate doesn’t seem like proper breakfast right. The owners are really nice people, even it’s hard to speak with the woman English.

GermanyMaybe the lizzards but that wasn’t a big deal for us.
Was a nice little cabin. You should be okay with lizzards which weren’t that big of a problem for us. We really enjoyed our stay here maybe come again. It’s not far away from the main road and we loved Nusa Penida because you have everything but it isn’t too touristic in that area which was perfect for us. Manager of the hotel is super lovely as well, she responds to any wishes, even though she sometimes doesn’t understand you 100% which isn’t too dramatic. You can get along just fine with her.

FranceThe dirtiness and almost everything
Nothing, just the kindness of the hosts. Absolutely unhygienic: urine on the toilet rim, a shower full of grime, rust, and insects, no running water in the shower, and only salty/sulfuric water in the sink and in the shower as well. We asked to use the shower in another cottage, but on the last night, none were available, so we went to bed dirty (after being at the beach all day). No outlets in the bathroom. The roof is open, allowing all insects to come in, and there is no mosquito net. Very far from the center, not at all close to a swimmable beach. The last night, we had a power outage and the host was unable to tell us when it would be resolved, even though we needed to prepare our things for departure the next morning. No solution was offered. We had to ask for a flashlight. Communication is also very difficult because the hosts don’t speak much English, so we had to use Google Translate. Additionally, the snorkeling activity to see manta rays they offer (through their friends) is a scam! We didn’t see any manta rays (which isn’t their fault ofc because nature is unpredictable), but they suggested alternative spots that we didn’t even visit, claiming there were "too many people," and the excursion lasted less than 2 hours instead of the planned 3 hours.

RomaniaIt’s not on the main road so you have to rent a motorbike to get to the restaurant, but it’s quieter because of that.
The family is just amazing - kind, helpful and really involved. The cottages are spacious, very clean and cleaning was done daily. The breakfast was tasty and you have 4 options to choose from. I wish more people would stay there because our stay was the best in the Bali area.

NetherlandsThis was by far one of the best stays this holiday (3 weeks of Indonesia). The host and his family were very kind and lovely people. He offered us a fresh fish dinner he caught himself and it was lovely and free of charge! The scooter he hired us was a new one too. The rooms are cute and clean and with a very good working AC. Overall perfect! To the host: thanks for the great night!
