The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Secluded location. A little off of the beaten track so a perfect opportunity to see a more rural side of Bali with fewer tourists that other places we visited. The host Sunia and his family were wonderful. Very helpful and accommodating. Sunia helped us organise hotel pick up for our jeep tour as well as arranging for us to take a boat across Lake Batur to Terunyan cemetery and village. His wife was fantastic after I had a pretty bad fall on my first night there. She cleaned me up beautifully, going above and beyond. Beautiful breakfast included as well. Thank you to all at Volcano Valley, we couldn't have hoped for a better stay in. Kintamani.

There was nothing really that we didn't like at Volcano Valley however, be prepared for flies during the day. Coming from Australia, we weren't bothered but you'll just have to keep them away from your breakfast 😉

    Property response:

Dear Sarah Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at Volcano Valley and appreciated the peaceful setting, comfortable room, and the more rural side of Bali. It was truly our pleasure to assist with your activities, from the jeep tour to the Lake Batur trip to Terunyan Cemetery and we are glad those experiences added to your holiday. We are especially touched by your kind words about our family. We are always happy to help our guests feel cared for, and I’ll be sure to share your gratitude with my wife for looking after you. Thank you also for your understanding about the flies during the day—we appreciate your patience and good humor about this natural part of Kintamani’s farming area of Vegetables. We hope to welcome you back again for another memorable stay in the future. Warm regards, Sunia & Family Volcano Valley

A great place to stay for a night or two while road-tripping through Bali. The accommodation is generally quiet and just a two-minute walk from the lake. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available—either included in the price or on request for a reasonable fee. There is also one restaurant about a five-minute walk away. The owners are warm, welcoming, and happy to provide advice on anything you’d like to know. They also organize tours at prices that are in line with the local average. If you’re planning to visit Trunyan Village and its unique cemetery, the resort owner offers boat transfers that take around 15 minutes. The cabins are clean and well-equipped. A small communal pool area and kitchen have recently been added, which is a nice bonus. If you’re into hiking, this is a great area—especially the Trunyan side of the lake, which offers less crowded and more authentic trails. Thinking of doing the classic Mount Batur sunrise hike? It’s popular and touristy, but many still find it a highlight of their trip. Personally, I recommend a sunrise hike from the Trunyan side of the lake for a more peaceful and equally beautiful experience.

Gojek and other app-based taxis (and/or gofood) are not readily available in this area, but the owner can provide or arrange transport if needed. As in most parts of Bali, scooters are the most convenient way to get around.

We stayed for one night, We really enjoyed it. The owner Mr. Sunia and the staff were nice, they provided everything. Sunrise Jeep Tour or Trekking to Mount Batur, boat tour to Terunyan. We choose Sunrise Jeep Tour and Terunyan Tour, its was unforgettable experience. They provided room service Food, Sunia’s wife cooked food for us and its the best food I ever had during in Bali. They provided transport for us to go to Hot Spring. The room is clean and the bed really comfortable, l Like the design of the room using wood. Other things the accommodation have only 4 rooms and have new pool as well.

Very nice hosts, good value for money

Had to keep the door closed because of flies. Don’t like the shower in toilet. The access road is dirt so muddy when it rains.

I had a beautiful stay at Volcano Valley. The owner, the manager and the driver Putu were super friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I also loved the wooden cabin between the onion fields and the walkable distance to the lake.

Nice room in Batur. Friendly host and staff. Good wifi. Bed comfortable. Room ok size. Fan in room. Ensuite bathroom ok size with shower. Parking for car onsite. Nice breakfast served. Relaxing stay.

Lots of vegetable flies outside. Best not to leave door open too long when coming and going. GPS directions are close.

The owner was taking very good care of us. He arranged everything for us to come to Bathur summit. He also arranged pickup from Amed and a driver to our next destination. Highly recommend the tour and to sleep here although there are files everywhere. This goes for the whole area due to farming.....

Very amazing Host! Even drop us to Natural baths and pick us up after. We did book with his company with a very fair price! The jeep 4x4 tour was amazing and the host took us amazing photos! Even let us do late check out and organized us a transfer to Amed, no grab or gojet in this area. For sure I will return.

It is a lot of flies but everywhere on this area is like that :)

Host and his family were super friendly and able to arrange a hike up Mt. Batur for the following day. Great suggestion given to hit the natural hot springs at the end of the day to avoid the crowds. Host personally drove us to the springs and picked us up for the return trip from a local restaurant. It was fantastic to support a local family business owner/operator as they provide a great option for short term accommodation in the region. Note that this accommodation is a little bit further past the more developed area of lake Batur, but it was a perfect opportunity for us to be amongst locals as they do life. Our kids got a real thrill as they walked by other children in the surrounding area and they greeted us with a cheerful “hello”.

Nothing - hard to complain about an experience that we will remember for a long time to come

The room was spotless, and Sunia communicated effectively, providing all the necessary information, including simple directions to the location. Breakfast was delightful, featuring fresh juice options. The property also had grilling equipment available, and Sunia was able to prepare even on short notice. Consider joining the Kintamani Jeep Tour. Although it starts eary in the morning, the effort is worthwhile to experience the stunning sunrise and explore the impressive black lava landscapes.

I understand that Kintamani is known for its problem with flying insects, particularly during harvest or rainy seasons. I think it is advisable the host can place an electric fly trap at the entrance of the room. Even with the door closed, these insects can still get inside through small gaps.
