How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewKalm is my favourite hotel in Bali for sure! Great location in a nice quiet road. Tons of great restaurants, bars and shops nearby. The rooms are super clean and the staff are awesome! I always enjoy using the cold plunge and sauna at the hotel. Highly recommended 10/10 :)

There was no food options but this really wasn’t a problem as there’s so many cafes near by and location was easy for Grab drivers to find.

I thought the staff would have been more helpful, or the service would have been better. Eg having to ask for the glass water to be refilled daily when they did the room service, they also didn’t stock up on coffees etc. We asked for bottled water at some stage and they said no they couldn’t help. Perhaps it would be good to sell some at reception since it’s right by the pool and sauna area. When we went to leave, I was struggling with my big suitcase to get it down the step and out the front, no assistance was offered.

Regarding the water and coffee, we appreciate your note. Our team did refill the bottled water daily, which we understand you may have used for both coffee and brushing your teeth. It’s great to know you enjoyed the coffee, we were happy to keep refilling it for you each day. Your suggestion to provide bottled water at reception near the pool and sauna area is very helpful, and we’ll definitely take it into consideration. As for your check-out, we recall assisting by bringing your luggage downstairs earlier, as requested, and arranging transport both for you and your friends. We also helped communicate with your driver when there was a language barrier. Additionally, we were happy to accommodate both an early check-in and a late check-out to make your stay more comfortable. Verified reviewWe had an excellent stay with 2 families with three teenagers for 2 weeks at Kalm Bali. Superb rooms, nice pool and sauna and a toplocation. Very good service from the entire staff. I especially want to mention Andy with the most beautiful smile of Bali and always willing to give some good advise. Definitely a topspot in Canggu!

The only issue I had at the property was two days in a row maintenance work started at 8 a.m which was really loud in my room.

Needs a refresh. A bit dated and cheap finishes. No attention to detail and overall I’d rate it as basic accomodation with the a pool. I’d only recommend booking if they have a promo of 50% or more. I paid more and it was not value for money.

Verified reviewThe property was just beautiful it is well designed and maintained, the pool is lovely and the rooms are great everything was very clean which is hard to find in Bali. The staff were amazing they were so kind and helpful the helped whenever we needed it, the location was great it was down a quieter street so we weren’t in traffic which was nice but it wasn’t far from good restaurants and things to do we walked to everything we needed
Maybe a safe in the room but otherwise can’t think of anything wish we could have stayed longer :)

Nothing Not that it bothered me, but could bother some, a couple of the rooms on the second floor needed access to them by walking through another rooms “balcony”, to ensure you enjoy your stay, I suggest requesting a room that meets your wishes. Either Not wanting to walk through someone’s space or not have someone walk through yours.

Verified reviewThe bed was EXTREMELY comfy and nice, everything was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. We got great sleep. The shower pressure was great and the bathroom is large. The cleaning service was great with cleaners respecting our late lie ins and returning in the afternoon, very appreciated! The pool was amazingly clean and perfect temperature. We really enjoyed swimming at night as there was no closing time which was amazing. The sauna and ice bath are great amenities too. On top of all this the service was great with everyone being extremely kind and all of our requests were met. 10/10 recommend great value for money and a lovely experience of Canggu with this small business!!
