Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNothing.
My stay at Incense was amazing! The location is perfect, just steps away from the busy main street but still far enough to avoid the noise and chaos. There is some construction in front of the hotel, but thanks to their agreement, work only happens between 9am and 5pm, so it didn’t really bother us. The staff were super attentive and helpful, even arranging a scooter for us at a great price that was delivered right to the door. Breakfast was delicious with three options, plus fresh fruit, coffee, and tea. The rooms are spacious, the outdoor shower was such a nice exotic touch, and the bed was very comfy. Everything is well decorated and thoughtfully done. I’d definitely come back here if I return to Uluwatu!

AustraliaThe space was so private and comfortable and the staff so welcoming. The rooms were fantastic and spacious and I can never live without an outdoor shower after this…amazing! Location was close to everything, either walking or a short scooter ride. The breakfast was excellent, not a big bunch of buffet everything, but cooked for you on order with a nice choice to start your day. Highly recommend an in house massage in the gardens, just as much as I recommend a stay here. We will be back.

AustraliaNothing to do with the property but they are building new apartments behind the hotel and it was a bit noisy during the day, although restricted to 9-5 which is good
Beautiful little resort , very clean and modern, cute little outdoor bathroom, lovely pool area and good location not far from Main Street where restaurants are, we had a lovely view of ocean and greenery from our balcony Staff lovely, friendly and helpful, Banana Lounge next door great for food and drinks

United KingdomThe Uluwatu area is currently 'under construction', which unfortunately means that there were building works nearby (but then again, there's construction everywhere in this area!). They are nearing completion now and are completely out of the hotel's control, so I'm not scoring the hotel down on this. A set of earplugs really helped us! When walking to the highstreet/ beaches, not every bit of street has pavements, so please be mindful of the cars/bikes whizzing past (or use a taxi/bike). It didn't bother us much, but might be challenging for others.
We really enjoyed our stay here. We were celebrating our 10 year-anniversary and the hotel kindly upgraded us and decorated our room with towel swans and beautiful flowers upon arrival! This was such a nice surprise! :) Our room was wonderful and spacious, with a nice balcony overlooking the sea and an outdoor bathroom. The grounds are so lovely and green, really enjoyed lounging at the pool too. A little well-kept sanctuary that felt private and secure. It's also a short walk away from the highstreet and various beaches, but if walking is not your thing it's also very easy to get a Grab or Gojek in the area. Breakfast was great, very generous portions, served outside in the little bar area. Thanks again for the lovely staff who went above and beyond!

BelgiumThe hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, but guests get a 10% discount at a small warung right next door. While that’s convenient, it also means that the breakfast provided by the hotel itself is quite basic, which was a bit of a letdown considering the high price of €175 per night, which is expensive for Indonesia. Also, while services like massages and taxi bookings are available, they are offered through external providers and must be paid in cash. That’s understandable, but a bit inconvenient… it would be easier if these services could be paid by card through the hotel. Finally, although the room was great, there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom pipes that occasionally spread into the room. It took some getting used to but didn’t affect our overall stay too much.
The hotel is very well located, peaceful yet close to everything. Our room was spacious, clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The terrace offered a beautiful view and was a lovely spot to relax. We also really appreciated the calm atmosphere of this small boutique hotel with only a few rooms.

United Arab EmiratesAmazing staff, all very friendly with us. Accommodated for the last breakfast as we left earlier than when the breakfast opened. Clean rooms with everything we needed, great views. We managed to book surfing classes and massages very easily as well. Very responsive on WhatsApp as well.

United KingdomBuilding noise right opposite all day. But not much they can do about it. Overlooking from the balconies on the building being build opposite into the bathroom/ shower Suggest increasing the visual protection. The shower is separate from the rest of the bathroom with a gravel bed, which can be a little precarious when wet.
Serene setting. Comfortable beds. While they don’t have a restaurant on site, they have partnered with banana lounge next door and offer 10% of all food and drink. And their food is delicious. Especially the brownie.

United KingdomThe only 'negative' was the construction work next door which was completely out of the hotel's control and not a reflection on them, just something to be aware of.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They gave great recommendations and helped organised transfers for us to and from the hotel. The breakfast was tasty and portions were generous.

IsraelThe access to the beach is rocky and steep. We only went there once and then preferred driving to more distant beaches. The location is not at the center of Uluwatu and walking there after dark is unpleasant.

NorwaySome construction like everywhere in the area, but the hotel made a deal with the construction site to ensure they don’t work early mornings and in the evening. They were also very accommodating with earplugs etc
Quiet and nice small hotel, easily accessible although the 10 min walk from the main road got a bit dark at night. But it was good value for money

United KingdomBreakfast was mediocre but complimentary. There was a large construction project ongoing across the road which was a little noisy but no fault of the hotel! There was no noise overnight or noticeable noise around the pool area.
Great location, friendly staff and gorgeous complex. Our bags were immediately taken upon arrival and put in our rooms, then we were provided ice cold drinks as we checked in .There was plenty to do in the local area but it was tucked away enough to be pretty peaceful! We were given loads of recommendations of great restaurants, beaches and activities and the communication with staff over WhatsApp was impeccable. Room came with a mini fridge stocked full, with everything reasonably priced. Would love to stay again if I'm ever over in Uluwatu!
