How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuper kind staff that gave suggestions for activities, such as sunrise spots and hiking routes. They advised on local food to eat. And they allowed us to store our luggage at the homestay while we were staying in another town where we did our vulcano climbing hike (Gunung Merbabu in Selo).

Verified reviewSuper place to stay. Perfect location on the slopes of the hills, calm and quiet, still close to Borobudur. You can rent a bicycle for free and explore surroundings, which I recommend! Free tea and coffee during the stay. Morning views on the volcanoes Merapi, Merbabu and Sumbing. Got a free drive to the town on my way back. Absolutely amazing!

Verified reviewThe owner is incredibly knowledgeable and generous in sharing his insights. He even shared with me the fascinating design and history of the house. As a cultural researcher, I gained a wealth of valuable information from him. He also recommended numerous fascinating, lesser-known places that I hadn’t discovered before. I’ll definitely return. The breakfast is simple yet delicious.
Internet could be more stable.

Verified reviewI had an amazing stay at this homestay! Everything was clean, room is big and the bed was comfy. I booked for 3 night, so one day to rest and the other day was to visit the temple but I extended for 2 more nights. Mostly because of Yudo, the owner, he is just amazing! First of all because he helped me with the ticket to Borobudur. Nowadays you need to book your ticket far in advance so I didnt had a ticket. But he helped me to get a ticket and luckily he got me a VIP ticket which made may trip to the temple 100 times better. He helped me not only with the tickets to the temple but also took me around the Borobudur area. We went to a tofu factory, pottery place, a place where you can make your own batik, to a coffee place up the mountain, the Selogriyo temple, a viewpoint for the Merapi volcano and a day trip to Dieng Plateau. This was by far one of the best places I stayed in Indonesia. Thank you so much for this unique experience!
kim is great guest, communicative , nice and very friendly. it was great to host her. i had memorable experience. very recommended

Verified reviewEveryone was very nice and helpful. If you want something or you have a question, they are going to do their best to help you out. I was sick when I stayed there, and they brought me tea that helps against throat sore . The location is a good place to stay when you want some quiet. You can borrow the owners bicycles to discover the area.
The windows don't have mosquito nets, but they gave us a spray what seemed to help because I have nearly no mosquito bites. I would just recommend closing the window shutters while having the room light on.

Verified reviewOut of town, quiet, easy access to temples and surrounding villages. Hosts were amazing and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Due to the location of the homestay, food options are limited however hosts were extremely kind and went out to collect evening meals for us which were all delicious. Hosts Yudo and Fendi also offered to take us at 4:30am to see the sunrise from Barede hill over Borobudur temple. We had free use of the bicycles and were given a hand drawn map of the points of interest such as tofu and pottery villages. Free tea and coffee facilities and breakfast were provided and we were even given a lift with our bags to the bus station when leaving. Overall the accommodation is very basic however the hosts and surrounding area is what make this stay worth it, great for budget travellers wanting to get local insight.
Quite basic, not a lot of natural light in the building unless doors are open, plug socket in bedroom hanging out of the wall.

Verified reviewbreakfast was good with fresh boiled eggs.
The man who worked at the guesthouse knocked on my door to ask about breakfast and tours after i retired to bed for consecutive two nights which made me uneasy and apprehensive. I was only the guest, which added to be afraid. Also at every opportunity, he tried to sell me tours with marked-up prices.
helo. . . sorry if you unhappy with it. is bad to knock the door for asked your breakfast because you have asked different breakfast so we just asked to prepare it. for tour price is normal for tour with pvt car , you can compare with other places. thanks
