Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsGreat place in a small alley off the main road. Quiet and comfy rooms. Hot showers, a need in Dieng, although the gas heaters may not always be reliable. Ibu Fortuna is kind and helpful. Dieng is a great place if you are interested in old Javanese culture and weird volcanic phenomena. Don't forget to hike up the hills a bit and be amazed by the rich variation in vegetables that are grown here. Or further up a path that starts close to the homestay and goes all the way up Prau Mountain spectacular (and a clear path).

IndonesiaParking lot is un-spacious, but lucky we got first priority as we came earlier than other guests. Host suggested to park the car at the school yard close to the guest house if we don't get the parking space at the house garage.
breakfast is outstanding, delicious nasi soto ayam with enough portion. weather is quite cold but we can manage, as Dieng is highland and we already prepare some sweater or jackets. location is near from destination of Bukit Sikunir, Dieng Crater and temples. host is friendly, house is clean and everything is under control

GermanyThe bed sheets were not all clean, but that's hopefully because of the "cold washing manner" in Indonesia.
Nice homestay, located close to any Dieng highlight. Helpful owner who even organized a transfer when ours was canceled and who really prepared a nice breakfast. It was quite cold at night, but blankets helped. We enjoyed our stay.

She even prepared us snacks to bring it to the hike and breakfast after. The place is in a quiet little street and very comfortable.

Russia- Be aware of a volcano smell, it appears from time to time. Don’t stay inside the crater if it is a problem for you.
+ Warm room, although night temperatures outside can be pretty low + Simple local breakfast is included + You have hot water! In Indonesia even big city located and expensive hotels may not have it! And here you have perfectly working gas heater. + The location is strategic, close to all the attractions. + The hotel is not on the road, it is very quiet there.

SingaporeThe floor upstair made creaking sound whenever someones outside our room walks.
The whole place was at our disposal. My friends and I watched netflix in our free time. We could play indoor games and the place was big and spacious for our use . The owners of the homestay were happy to prepare the breakfast we asked for. The kitchen too, was for us to use any time we wanted.

United KingdomBathroom didn't have a sink, I had to use the sink in the living room. Shower pressure was weak. Bathroom looked rather old and a bit dirty, it could definitely do with some maintenance. It was rather cold at night. Room was quite small. I saw a mouse running around my room a few times (it entered through the drain hole in the bathroom - the room was on the ground floor). The prayer call was very loud and continuous, it interrupted my sleep in early morning. Sometimes the family locked the front door, and then when you knock they look at you with surprise as if they don't know there are guests staying at the place. There are few accommodation options in Dieng at Booking.com, it's ok for a short stay but generally it's not a comfortable place and I wouldn't want to come again. Not like I expected any luxury for the price, but other basic homestays in Java were all much better.
The owner speaks English and was responsive over WhatsApp. She helped arrange the private car to/from Yogyakarta at a price slightly better than what was offered in Yogyakarta. Shower has hot water. There was Indonesian breakfast included in the room price. It was fried rice with chicken/fish - nothing amazing but it was filling and convenient, given that there are no nice cafes in the village. You can use the tea-making facilities in the living room. You can walk to Arjuna temple, also there's a hiking trail up Mount Prau which starts not that far from the homestay.

ChinaThe shared bathrooms have hot water, but they are relatively basic and spartan. The breakfast is also rather basic.
The location, in the middle of the plateau's main village, is perfect. The staff are helpful. The rooms are nothing amazing, but they're ok for the price. There is tea and hot water, and the common area is nice to sit in.
