Johan and everyone were so lovely! And it was so handy to do the tour with Johan. Highly recommend. Johan has some great recommendations while in the city as well.

Everything! Johan is a host with an amazing personality. His team was super helpful and supportive. He arranged us the tour to ijen with a guide who was a miner himself. It was a memorable experience!

Very spacious family room. 2 large beds. Nice breakfast. Really 2 great hosts. A mutual kitchen and fridge to use. A super fast laundry nextdoor from the same owner.

There was no warm water

Spacious rooms with Ac , Johns the host was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included and you have use of the kitchen to cook your own if you want something else than Nasi or mie Goreng :-).

It’s a few kilometres outside the city centre and there are no taxis or Bejac out that way so you need to sign up for that ride share app ( similar to uber to get a ride).

Do not look any further! Johan and Onkey are the best! This is a really authentic homestay (Yes, I've been on a few student exchanges in Java)! You don't need to have many plans as Johan is full of ideas that will exceed your expectations. As for climbing Ijen, we literally bypassed a whole group of annoyed looking westerners waiting at the clinic for their health certificate and waltzed on in to find that Johan had already sent through our details and it was a 5min questionnaire and blood pressure check. Our trekking guide was humble and patient and saved several tourists who had lost their way on the dark rocky path into the crater, thinking that they didn't need a guide (it's nuts, trust Johan and he'll set you up!). Other pros of Green Ijen include the cheap as chips laundromat next door, the baked sweet potato and sate kaki lima down the street, and the surprisingly epic snorkelling. We've paid more for fancier hotels, but Green Ijen was the most memorable!

Great homestay with amazing staff. They do everything for you to enjoy your stay. Really friendly and helpful. The room is clean and with AC. Great deal for the price! Highly recommend.

Johan is a very welcoming host! He organised a great private trip for us with Barri to mt Ijen, which was fantastic. When we came back there was a breakfast waiting for us and we could still sleep a bit in the room until checkout! Thank you for the great experience!

Everything was planned down to the smallest detail, and we had the most professional guide who ensured we had an amazing experience. It was clear that our group received the best care and attention, making the adventure even more special. The homestay is well located if you want to head to Ijen. The room is simple but clean, with a comfortable bed and good AC. The staff made our stay so enjoyable and so easy. Johan is very friendly and funny, he is very communicative and responsive on messages, and had a wealth of useful tips. His nephew is kind and provides everything you’d need, including good coffee before and after the Ijen hike. I highly recommend organising your Ijen hike through Johan. He will take care of everything and it all runs very smoothly - from driving you to the volcano, getting your health certificate ready, providing you with an excellent guide to go up the volcano, bringing all the equipment you need for the hike, and prepping you breakfast afterwards. He even helped us get our train tickets and get to the station. Everything was so easy and smooth. Thank you so much Johan for your hospitality!

A little bit of a walk to the town centre/restaurants. Room is simple but has everything you need!

Private tour to Ijen was quickly and well organized and reasonably (for Westerners) priced.

The room is very basic: no sheets, no sink, no hot water. The common kitchen is dirty. Breakfast is instant noodles and half of egg plus cutted on quarters dragon fruit and some smal dirty bananas. No illusions: you get what you've paid for. We were 2 but booked room for 4 people, still no extras at breakfast. After the tour just to earn more, the owner scammed and frauded us with the bus to Denpasar. We lost little money, but mostly health, time, and trustworthy to banyuwangi people. When we asked, why did he do this and didn't bring us to the real bus station the answer was, citation: "for sure at bus terminal brawijaya will be many scammed people, they will be charege you with double price"

Very helpful owner providing lots of information about how to visit the Ijen Volcano and other landmarks around like the Lider Waterfall. Nice breakfast with rice/noodles and egg.

There was not hot water and only one bath sink outside the bathroom. Some mosquitoes in the room.

Wonderful host. Accommodation is great value. Property, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were super clean. Bed and AC were comfortable. We booked the Ijen tour with the host Johan and had a great experience. Price seemed fair. We got helpful recommendations from Johan's nephew for local spots. Johan offers other tours we wished we could have taken advantage of (but we had to move on to our next destination). We'd stay here again!

The owner was very personable and helpful. Location was good and close to most places of interest. Room and amenities were well maintained and functional.

Absolutely the best stay that I have had during my week in Java.Johan and his nephew are the nicest people I have ever met.So helpful,friendly,they will go extra mile for the guests.I also booked the Ijen tour through them and it was excellent.I would recommend this homestay to everyone ..10/10..I would always come back!Thank you Johan for everything!
