Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe call of the muezzin from the nearby mosque will wake you up *every morning* at around 5 am. The prayer call lasts for more than half an hour and is insanely loud. Also keep in mind that there's only salt water for showering and washing hands. You have to pay extra for drinking water and bicycle rental, which is bizarre regarding the high price for this place.
It has been the most beautiful accommodation on my trip so far and I felt a little bit in paradise. The place is very neat & clean and I enjoyed the Bungalow with it's open air shower and the lovely pool.

United States- It's in the center of the island so it takes time to go anywhere nice but it is also in the center... Carrying the luggage from/to the dock is a hassle if you decide to not take the horse buggies. - A really expensive (unexpected) laundry. We should have asked beforehand: it was 3x more than in Bali.
We had a nice private bungalow, and quiet most of the time (you can hear people walking on the path but it's not extensively used). Very clean and well stocked. A friendly arrival reception. Breakfast was good (good coffee).

United KingdomWe didn’t realise when booking that there were different standards of rooms- the bungalows around the pool were very lovely and felt very private, whereas we had accidentally booked a lower grade room which felt very overlooked in terms of where it was set in the prooerty- if we didn’t draw the curtains at all times, people were looking directly into the room and shower from breakfast/deckchairs around the pool. This meant we had to draw the curtains always and made the room dark and bleak. Additionally it was set next to where staff lived so was often noisy. Location wise it is fairly central on the island- equal distance to walk to north/south/east/west coasts, which was fine (and approx 10-15 mins walk from any coast) but didn’t really feel well located for anywhere.
Gorgeous little hotel with rooms set around a lovely pool and greenery. Staff were so warm, particularly with my little one and really helpful when he was unwell, offering us food, checking in on us and even paying for our horse and cart back to the port when we didn’t have enough cash on us. They even upgraded us to a bungalow for one night when we were not happy with our room.

AustraliaThe beds could have been more comfortable (although that’s not saying they were uncomfortable). Our room was also directly opposite the reception / breakfast area which meant we had to keep the curtains closed, which made the room very dark, otherwise people could see straight in. I would also make sure you’re comfortable with who you’re sharing a room with as the toilet was in view of the bed and there were gaps between the shutter blind.
We really enjoyed the pool area and breakfast. The rooms are nice and cool with a fan and AC available. The property is pretty much in the centre of the island which is great for exploring, we walked everywhere.

RomaniaWe missed a fridge in the room for the drinks.
We had a family bungalow with 2 double bed rooms, each of them with its own bathroom. We liked very much the outside bathrooms, the nature from the resort that gave us privacy while sitting on the front porch. The rooms had AC, ceiling fan, they provided us with sarong and towels to take it to the beach. The breakfast was delicious, the pool was clean and the location was just 10-15' until sunset street (north-west side of the island). In the location , there is a small shadowed children play area for small kids. There is also play cafea just around the corner, a beautiful playground for kids all ages where you can serve something to drink and small bites (sandwiches, pasta or salad)

RomaniaThe pool could be cleaned or the filtration system could be turned on more often. Not really property related, but keep in mind that the sound from the mosque can be quite loud and heard in the tiny house especially since there is no isolation at all.
Center location, easy to go to any part of the island fast. Breakfast was good, staff was great.

United KingdomThere is nothing to not like here! Breakfast here is amazing - eggs, pancakes, waffles or fruit, along with coffee and freshly made fruit juices, which changed each morning. There is also unlimited tea, coffee and water. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a fresh and bright tropical theme. The beds are comfy and each room has plenty of storage and shelves. There is a small safe for items like passports and money, but we never felt unsafe with laptops not being locked away. The wifi is also great, and we never had a problem streaming or getting online. The team here is a small, tight knit family, who cannot do enough for you. The rooms are cleaned everyday and fresh linen and towels are changed regularly. Everyone always had a smile on their face and were always on hand to book trips, excursions or answer questions about the island. They also arranged our travel to and from the harbour. The location of the villas is also in our opinion the best on the island. Being in the middle means you never get caught out by staying near a beach club, some of which have loud music into the small hours in high season, so you’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep. GIli Matiki is right in the centre of the island, next to a bike rental place that has bikes with child seats. You are never more than a 5 minute cycle from any amenity. We never had a bad meal on the island, which is testament to the local businesses here, and you are walking distance from one of the top rated warungs (sunny). If you find yourself not being able or not wanting to go out in the evening, most restaurants will deliver meals here. There are some beautiful beach bars to watch the sun all around the island and there are some amazing snorkelling spots just metres from the shore. As the island doesn’t have cars or vehicles (only horse and cart and bikes - manual or electric), it is a paradise. You’ll honestly never want to leave! Thank you to everyone at Gili Matiki!
If I told you we will leave a piece of our hearts here in Gili Matiki, maybe you would understand how much we loved it here. We initially booked a week here, but extended it twice to stay almost 3 weeks. As a travelling family of 3 with a 6 year old, Gili Matiki was perfect and was amazing value for money. The hotel has 9-10 rooms, all beautifully placed around a pool and an amazing common area. We stayed in the private villa called Villa Matiki and it is perfect for 2 couples/family of 4. It is set back from the main hotel, with it’s own private entrance, garden with cabana, kitchen and terrace with sofas. We loved the look of the place when we booked it but it’s even more beautiful than the photos. The owner has clearly made a space with families and travellers in mind. When I say this I mean you get all the perks of a resort, but the close knit feel of a b&b, maintaining a small family feel. There is a playground with toys and games located next to the breakfast area so you can keep an eye on the kids whilst you enjoy freshly ground coffee. The swimming pool has a shallow section for children right next to a large cabana. The mezzanine has a book shelf, games, yoga mats and bean bags, perfect to escape the sun for a few hours or for a morning chill. Hopefully you are also a fan of animals, as there are some gorgeous cats here! Our daughter loved playing with the kittens every morning. Our private kitchen area, with fridge, hot plate, water machine also had a well stocked mini bar. The restaurant also has ice cream and sell snacks like crisps/biscuits in case you can’t get to the supermarket; we didn’t find the cost any more expensive than the local marts too! All villas have beach bags, beach towels, sarongs and sun hats for use during your stay. It’s touches like this that make you understand the thought that has gone into the concept here, to make it as convenient as possible for your holiday or travels.

SpainNot their fault really, but the hut does not have isolation. The island vibrates early morning with a Dolby surround mosque. You can’t do nothing about it.
Incredible place, very friendly staff. The best breakfast in 3 months. Nice pool and details are just perfect. The room have all details you may need and the really will help you in anything. I was able to work from there and internet speed is quite good. It’s away from the main spots which can be too busy and easy to reach any place walking in 10 min max.
