Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicWe were there in July. During low tide, some sand appears, but swimming becomes difficult. The corals are very close to the shore—just 2–3 meters away—and during low tide, tourists often step on them and damage them as they try to reach the man-made statues placed farther out in deeper water. This location is suitable for a morning snorkeling or diving trip, but it’s definitely not a place for sunbathing. In the evening, it's best to use mosquito repellent.
The accommodation was located right by the beach. However, almost the entire length of Jemeluk Beach is lined with fishing boats. The beach is covered with large lava rocks, so it’s definitely not a place where children can play. In the afternoon, there is a significant low tide. The breakfast was tasty. Free WI-FI. Comfortable beds.

AustraliaBed was quite hard. Bathroom could be a bit cleaner. The main road gets noisy early so if you like a sleep in you might struggle a bit.
Can’t beat the location, you can watch the sunrise in the morning from your balcony, step out onto the beach and snorkel right at your doorstep, then walk 10 minutes up the hill to Sunset point for a glorious sunset. There’s also snorkelling equipment on site to rent for $2 AUD and a restaurant with a good breakfast selection. Staff were friendly and very helpful especially the man at reception who gave me advice on where to go during my stay. They clean the rooms every second day and tell you that on arrival but you need to leave them the room key for it.

AustraliaNo drinking water provided. It’s a real shame that we have to buy water in plastic bottles - I’d rather pay a small surcharge and have refillable water available to save the plastic bottles. (We got caught out overnight, but otherwise you can pay for refills at Apeneista a few doors down if they are open). Cleanliness - passable, but the rooms and bathrooms really could do with better cleaning - the bathrooms could do with deep cleaning scrubs, there were lots of greasy fingerprints on the doors as though the doors had never been cleaned. I needed to move the furniture to retrieve something I dropped down the side of the bed, and it was quite dusty and dirty under there. It was also rainy season and the room was a bit mouldy. I imagine that is not a problem in the dry season- and it has also been an exceptionally wet season this year. It was OK if I had the door open (didn’t feel safe leaving it open at night as the property is right on the beach), but the windows are screwed shut. That is a big shame as being right on the beach, at night the only secure option was to have everything closed with the air con on - whereas I’d much rather be able to just have a window open and a fan (and mozzie net on bed) to sleep comfortably with fresh air, only using the air con during the hot part of the day. That would also be cheaper for the hotel to run and better for the environment. This could be easily addressed with a bolt on the door so it could be locked open a bit (a sliding door), or adding window hardware. Also the rooms were not cleaned at all during our stay (only front porch swept)- which for the price didn’t seem right, especially with the cleaning staff being available but just sitting around on their phones.
Location! This property is right on the beach at Jemeluk Bay, with rooms looking right at the water. You can walk out of your room past the boats on the beach, and swim and snorkel right in front of your room, seeing coral and bright fish and turtles only a few metres away from the shore. It’s a lovely safe and protected bay. (Note it is a pebble beach - the closest sand beach is further east in the Lipah part of Amed, but I find that to be a little bit out of the way). Lovely front terrace with seats and coffee table and clothes airer, and then a few metres towards the beach, very comfortable reclining lounging beach chairs with umbrellas. It’s also close walking distance to Blue Earth/Deep Flow yoga and restaurant (both soo good and highly recommended), and other restaurants , warungs and diving facilities in Jemeluk, with a mini-mart across the road for snacks/drinks etc. The staff are lovely, and were accommodating. The breakfast was the usual - with coffee, a small plate of fruit, and several options of eggs/jaffle/omlette/rice porridge for breakfast. The bathroom was fairly recent and had nice stone on the wall and floors, hot water with good shower pressure, nice big mirrors, all working as it should. The bed is a reasonably firm foam mattress, fairly comfortable. There is a small fridge that works well, dressing table, little sitting are, cupboard with hangers. Air con worked very well in my room - in my son’s room it worked but the thermostat didn’t work (it was very cold even when the temp on remote was put right up to 27 or above. In fairness to the host - my son didn’t say anything to them about that so they had no opportunity to fix it - we should have said something at the time). The snorkels and fins we hired were nice and new and in very good condition and very reasonable price. A room safe with a key, although that wasn’t actually attached to the cupboard so someone could just walk off with the whole safe.

IndonesiaNeed more electrical socket in the room (on the wall). There’s only one in entire room (in the beach house). The fridge wasn’t cold and my laptop didn’t charge so I guess the socket doesn’t work properly
-Friendly, polite staffs and so accommodating. -Perfect location, the beach right in front of the property so if you want to dip into the water you don’t need to bring key, towel to the beach. Nice to see fishermen prepared their boats from your balcony before heading to the water everyday. -There is a sweet cat that often visit my room during my entire stay, if you see her please kindly feed her, she looks starving, I wanted to take her home after confirming to the staff but I didn’t see her on my last day. -Steps away from convenient store, atm and good restaurants. The surrounding is not too busy but also not super quiet, right in the middle.

AustraliaStaff are very friendly and attentive. Property was kept neat and clean. However the noise cancellation was not the best. But then again I stayed in a few places in Amed, unfortunately all the places I stayed at had the same issue. You either hear the vehicles on the road, or the rooster early in the morning. With this accomodation, you don’t hear the rooster 🙂
