Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaThe location a bit remote and isolated, but to those who are going to hike mount Rinjani, this is the perfect location.
The facilities are good, but can be improved more. The owner@staff is so superb, serving us a very delicious breakfast.

United KingdomThe only thing is that we could mice or some sort of rodents running along the roof and walls throughout the night. The accommodation is off the beaten track though.
Property was beautifully maintained and very clean upon entry. The host was friendly and made us our favourite breakfast of our whole trip in Indonesia - right before we hiked Mt. Rinjani

SpainThe best was the kindness of Farid, the owner that was very supportive of all what we needed. He offered us different options and also supported us in our wishes to move around in the region. It felt like family. Without his help it would have been impossible. The breakfast was also beautiful, with the views and the savory taste.

Czech RepublicEverything was good; the only thing is that the bungalows have opened small gaps above the doors, so it's not recommended to have a light on in the evening; otherwise, all the mosquitos might come to your bungalow (no mosquito net).
Farid, who runs the bungalows, was very welcoming and caring. We experienced a flat tire on our scooter, and he borrowed us his scooter so we could go for dinner and took us the next day to a mechanic to repair our tire. The bungalow is basic but has everything that you need - a comfy bed, hot water and a toilet. As a bonus Farid made us great banana pancakes for breakfast and the bungalows have a nice view of Mt. Rinjani.

NetherlandsA mosquito net would be nice to keep bugs away, airco is not provided but not needed as it gets colder at night in this area. The cabin didn’t lock properly, so this could be improved for a more safe feeing.
We were welcomed by friendly brothers who are running the cabins. They took good care of us, providing great breakfast, bringing us to a nice local restaurant nearby and organising tours and transport for us. Beautiful view at the border of the national park, we saw monkeys in the trees from our cabin.

NetherlandsIn the morning there’s some traffic up the mountain, hikers and porters. Didn’t really bother me though
Amazing location, right at the edge of the Rinjani National Park with a gorgeous view of the mountain. we saw monkeys, a eagle and several species of singing bird over breakfast 😊 Farid has been very kind and helpful, he arranged our trips and even went to get us dinners since the location is rather remote

CambodiaIt was basic but great for a short stay. Small and personalized. There is only breakfast offered but Farid helped us order food from a mediocre restaurant in town.
The view of Rinjani right from the porch was incredible. The staff was very helpful and acted as our guide on a hike. They tailored the hike to our needs and wants. Delicious breakfast. We had a lovely time here.

AustraliaUnreal view of Rinjani and its neighbours from your bed. Sunsets above and beyond. It’s about 800m from the start of the Rinjani NP. Farid, the manager was really helpful - even came down to the ferry to meet us! Folks in town at the local warung, so kind and friendly. Breakfast was ok, but if you’ll need to take a bit of a hike into town to find shops and warungs. 10-15 mins.

AustraliaIt was very cold during the night and we were only provided with a thin blanket. The hot water in a shower is only enough for a couple of minutes, so only 1 person could take a super quick shower within few hours. Cold shower was a challenge as it was freezing in the morning and the water was ice cold.
There was an incredible view from the window to Mt. Rinjani. The place is reasonably new, so all facilities are in good condition. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

It was perfect place with stunning view at Rinjani volcano, awesome surrounding and the host was very friendly, we talked a lot and told us about country people and culture. He also arranged the trek for Rinjani volcano. We stayed one night more. I can just recommend to all people coming to Sembalu.

SingaporeElectricity does get cut off from time to time when rain gets heavy so you don't have lights and hot water, but these instances are usually brief and quick so no worries. The place is quite cosy so it's not too much of a hassle.
Farid is a very kind and attentive host who goes the extra mile to make his guests feel welcome. He made sure we were comfortable and offered options for our meals. Checking in and out was easy - host also regularly contacted me to ensure that everything was alright/we were making our way without any issues to the bungalow :)

AustraliaWe loved our stay at family rinjani bungalows. Habib (Bulloh) and Farid were so welcoming, they made us feel like kerluaga (family), and helped us with absolutely anything they could, with amazing local advice. We took a guided sunrise hike up Pergasingan hill, it was an incredible experience. If you are visiting the area around Mount Rinjani or wanting to do the hike, stay with this family business, you won’t regret it!

GermanyAbsolutely nothing. Everything is perfect!
Farid is the nicest host we have met and his bungalows are the nicest and cleanest place to stay at. We spent one night in the family bungalows and it was the best choice. It is very close to the Rinjani. Farid even offers hiking tours himself. The bungalow is very clean. We had hot water to shower. He prepared us a very tasty breakfast in the morning. He even took us around to show Sajang.

GermanyNothing in particular. Just be aware that the place has no own restaurant for dinner but the team is always happy to help, they get food from the town or lend their scooter to you if needed. No wifi at the moment due to construction work in town.
Our stay at the Family Rinjani Bungalows was just perfect for our Rinjani trek. The whole team was wonderful and very friendly all the time. The family does not only offer the very cute bungalows (great breakfast, comfy bed, cosy cabin, warm water) but is also a very experienced team of guides and porters (10+ years) for any kinds of Rinjani treks. We did the 2 day, 1 night trek and can really recommend doing that with Bull and his team from the Rinjani Family. They put the safety of their guests first at all times, share all the information you need, stay close to you during the entire trek (we have seen many groups losing their guides), they do the treks with small size groups only to ensure a great experience and guidance. The bungalows are located at the road which leads directly to the starting point of the trek (5 mins ride) which is great to start and end the tour without the need of long car rides. If you would like to climb the volcano, we can really recommend this place. Just get into contact via whatsapp with the team to arrange your tour package, it worked very well for us. They also can organize pick-up and drop-off by car.

The young man running the bungalows, Farid, is just lovely. He is so friendly and helpful with good ideas about what to do and good restaurants etc in the area. The bungalows are stylish, clean and with a very comfortable bed. The location is excellent, away from the busy road and mosque noise with a pretty view of the mountains.
