How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice location to visit Bromo and to arrange a trip to the vulcano, there is a restaurant with nice food, friendly staff, nice seating area
Quite noisy (loud music until late even though a lot of people go there to wake up very early to go to Bromo), could have been cleaner

Verified review- nice location to go to Bromo - nice terrace where you can eat and drink
- the room was really not cleaned properly, with a lot of hair from others in the bathroom and sink - even the relatively low price, i would still want a clean room which was not the case We decided to leave the stay after 1 night even while we booked for another one - as the hygiene was really terrible

Verified reviewThe outdoor spaces were very nice with amazing views when the fog/clouds lifted. The area is very interesting and a shott walk to the nearby village gives you a sense of how folks live around here. The staff arranged taxi pickup from the train and drop-off in Malang, as well as a very good value 4x4 tour of the caldera.
The rooms were pretty basic and with no heat, the thin blankets were not really enough to keep us from getting a bit cold. Also, they show pictures of a bar with wine and spirits on their bookings listing.. These are just leftover bottles from past guests that they strangely display, even though they do not serve any alcohol. This is not unusual in Java, but the photos definitely give the wrong impression about it.

Verified reviewPros: This accommodation was located in a beautiful place in lush green hills close to Bromo. (That's why I choose it) The bed was comfy and sheets were clean. The owner also owns the cafe upstairs which is convenient for eating and drinking good coffee and fresh fish!
Cons: In this accommodation there were many hidden costs: if you travel like us, this is a little bit of the things that I would recommend to have into consideration. We came by train to the station of Pasuruan (which is the 'closest' to the accommodation) closest meaning: 1 hour by car from train station to accommodation. We took a Grab which it cost around 400 rp because the taxi driver doesn't go uphill for less. Then, the owner doesn't speak any word of English, which made booking the tour to Bromo and other transactions so much harder. Also I am pretty sure, he is not a people person, but whatever that's just my interpretation. The tour to Bromo that they provide, isn't a real tour, it's a transportation to Bromo's viewpoint and Bromo's crater and back to the accommodation. (No tour guide) that was 500 jeep + 220 per person for 'entrance' which is a total rip-off for white tourists, but whatever, we paid it, we wanted to see Bromo. The room wasn't cosy, it might look as such in the pictures but it is SO humid and cold. Also, NO HOT SHOWER (it's mountain temperature, so it's already cold outside), no toilet paper and towels were ridiculously small. The coffee upstairs shares the ground with the rooms celling, with no proper isolation, makes it very noise and unpleasant to have a nap. (Believe me, after waking up at 3am for Bromo, you will want to have a nap) And of course, we are continuing our trip, so we needed a taxi back to the train station which was another 500. A total rip-off experience almost 100€ spent in something so much cheaper. All and all, we wanted to leave as soon as possible, not coming back to this one. Definitely, there are better options for your Bromo adventure, keep looking.

Verified reviewAmazing stay! We loved the food and the vibe at the restaurant! The staff is very friendly and nice and arranged for us a great tour. We rented a motorbike to go around the area and it was amazing. Definitely recommended for a relaxing stay.
It was a bit cold at night, but we asked for an extra blanket and we slept well ;)

Verified reviewSuper helpful staff and fantastic location for what we had planned for. Makes a very nice hot chocolate after a long day full of adventures.
Maybe it would be helpful to have some pictures next to food menu to help us understand what we could eat. We struggled a little bit to decide/know what was suitable for each meal time.

Verified reviewI spent one day here just to visit Bromo. I don't think this place is suitable for backpackers or tourists. They arranged my jeep to Bromo but it was overprized, as well as my car back to Surabaya. Also, communication was very hard since the staff don't really speak English. The room is nice and the bed is comfortable but the whole place is very loud. They make parties, so this is not a quiet place. They have a café upstairs and the rooms are right underneath it. Since there is no isolation whatsoever, you hear everybody walking and talking as if they were in your room. It is quite sad that the organization and the atmosphere they create are not good (especially for backpackers or tourists) because the place is actually really beautiful.
