Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandPoorly constructed rooms, the sliding doors opening out to the sea views had gaps and weren’t secure. The construction of the hotel also means it’s not very sound proof so be prepared to hear voices from neighbouring rooms. They try to mitigate this by requesting that everyone be mindful of making too much noise between certain hours but depends on whether your neighbours comply! On the other hand, hope you also enjoy the very loud sound of waves crashing all night. If you’re a light sleeper then I wouldn’t necessarily recommend you stay overnight! Slightly weird smell in the room, and it didn’t feel like the rug in the room had been cleaned in a long time. Ventilation in the bathroom wasn’t great. One morning we woke up to a dying cockroach near the edge of the bed, the only instance across our travels in Bali. The restaurant area seems to be a bit understaffed. We ran into a few instances where we waited a long time to have our orders taken and to receive our food.
The view from the room was great, directly facing out into the sea with views of the surfers trying to catch a wave. The trade off of this, however, is the trek up and down the massive staircase to get to and from the hotel. Be prepared to be a sweaty mess anytime you leave the hotel - but to be fair it’s only about a 5 min climb up (without luggage) even with some stops to catch your breath. Free breakfast was from the main restaurant menu - a nice change from other hotels who offer only a condensed and basic version when breakfast is included. Just be aware that monkeys often do visit, and you have to be vigilant with your food and belongings. We even saw some monkeys steal an unlucky customer’s breakfast, and they like to run across the roof in the mornings. Was able to arrange a motorbike directly from the hotel which made travelling around the area very convenient. Bear in mind that the staircase to the hotel is located a bit inward from the main road, and the path is not lit up at night, so walking might be a bit of a challenge. We had no issues being able to get a grab car though, when we were leaving the hotel, and no issues with drop off.

AustraliaBe aware you have to walk on a lot of steep stairs. The only access to the beach is during low tide and it’s very rocky, best to have some water shoes!
You pay for the gorgeous view, staying right on the beach, it’s absolutely divine! The staff are so lovely also.

United KingdomI wouldn’t describe this as a surf camp. It’s a hotel. Was a bit disappointed, as I’d stayed at the one in Anghama in Sri Lanka and that was an amazing camp experience where you got to know people and there was a social host and the staff were just super friendly and got to know you. Coming here on my own I was expecting similar and it just wasn’t like that at all. Even the surf sessions, it was good but just on my own and once a day. Plus the paddle out is far! Was glad I was meeting up with some people who I met in Sri Lanka because otherwise I would have met no one and been super lonely. Also I was fine with it because I knew in advance, but if you can’t walk far/do stairs this is really not the place for you.
It’s a really quiet little haven, on its own private beach, super nice restaurant and amazing views. Rooms are super comfortable and clean.

United KingdomThe air con unit was dripping a bit into the bed but it wasn’t a big issue. Also there are porters to bring your luggage down the stairs but we were unlucky and there were not porters when we arrived and we had to carry the cases. It was fine but something to bear in mind if you will struggle with a lot of stairs!
Amazing views, decor and scenery. Really good breakfast! So yummy! The views were amazing and definitely worth all the stairs up and down everyday. Also access to a private beach, and lots of monkeys which was amazing to see (although make sure you keep your belongings inside at night 😆😂)

United KingdomThere’s nothing that we didn’t really like. Only if you’re a light sleeper you’ll struggle to sleep because sound of waves but this didn’t bother us. The stairs - again not a problem to us but it is a task to get up and down in heat.

IndiaYou have to climb down 200 something steps to get to the stay. So if you need to go anywhere you need to climb 200 somethings steps up. It served as a good warm up for our trek to Ijen though. But those steps were absolutely worth it for the place. So we did not exactly mind the steps as they say - Tough roads lead to beautiful destination. If you have mobility issues then it will be difficult for you. Also getting around the place from the room to restaurant etc there are lot of stairs.
This place was something you see in Instagram and wish you could stay there but it is always expensive only difference was this one isn't. Imagine staying in beautiful quaint little bamboo huts right beside this picturesque turquoise blue sea that feels like heaven. As you wake up and pull shades away from your bed you can see this amazing blue sea with gently lapping waves just below. You can just put on your swim suit and just get down to the beach because it is just outside. No crowd just you and few surfers a few distance away. It is also a surfers camp so if you want to surf or learn surfing just take your board and paddle away into the sea. It was very calming and serene that made me want to stay at this place forever. They have a small restaurant and the food was great there. The breakfast had lot of option and was amazing!

AustraliaThe cleanliness was a bit average, detached bathroom was a big drawback for us. The staircase is mentioned in many other reviews, they are a bit of a pain to get luggage up and down but they do have porters to assist, though they aren’t necessarily pleased that they have to carry bags

South AfricaThe bathrooms have not got great ventilation so they smell damp. Perhaps putting in an extractor fan as well as a diffuser for essential oils (something fresh such as lemongrass) to help with the smell would be great.
The property was located in the most beautiful setting! Woke up to ocean views and surfers ripping it up! The rooms are decorated incredibly beautiful with a boho feel to them. The food was delicious and included breakfast had great variety. Staff were helpful in assisting with finding a scooter rental for us as well as helping with carrying bags up and down the stairs. Communication about stairs and not bringing heavy bags was great as well as communication regarding things walls due to bamboo being used was also great! Expectation had been set early on before arrival and made these points easy to navigate and understand when arriving. Location was amazing as super close to all shops restaurants and popular sites such as temple and beaches and surf breaks.
