How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI only intended to stay one night but ended up staying a week ,such a lovely family they're so kind and welcoming 🙏 ☺️ and the breakfast is delicious especially the nasi gorang. The room is spacious and bed comfortable and aircon works well. Location is perfect walking distance to everything. I recommend and will be back God willing.
The only thing that could be improved is if the room had a refrigerator and the hot water in shower to stay hot for longer (small tank) but these things were insignificant for the price paid and the friendships gained.

Verified reviewDite and her family are so warm and welcoming, they made my stay here very enjoyable. I particularly liked how you could choose your breakfast, they would bring it to you every morning with hot water for tea and coffee every morning and evening. The room was incredibly quiet even though it is based in central Ubud. The bed was cosy and room was clean. I would recommend staying here! Thank you!

Verified reviewOur stay at Depi House Ubud was truly exceptional from start to finish. On our first day, two of my friends arrived ahead of us and left their luggage in our room. The staff kindly welcomed them into the compound and even prepared four cups and saucers with hot water—a thoughtful touch that immediately set the tone for our stay. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and felt brand new. The hot water worked instantly, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. There’s also a closet for hanging clothes, which made settling in even easier. A special shout-out to Dita, who went above and beyond to take care of us. She even asked for our preferred breakfast time, which was a lovely detail. One evening, I messaged her via WhatsApp to ask for a knife and plate for my apple, expecting she’d bring it in the morning—but within minutes, she was at our door with everything. That kind of instant service was unexpected and deeply appreciated. Breakfast was another highlight. The Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng were both delicious—well-seasoned and served in generous portions. I mentioned that it was a bit too much for me, and they kindly adjusted the serving the next day. The location is also perfect—right in the heart of Ubud, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Ubud Palace and the Art Market are just a short walk away. Thank you, Dita, and your wonderful family for your warm hospitality. You made us feel so welcome, and your service exceeded all expectations. Wishing you continued success and fully booked rooms always! 🙏🫶🏼

Verified reviewIt was in Ubud centre where everything is when you are done touring, be it food, shopping, massage. The homestay building is new and therefore very new looking and clean. Traditional joint family looking after the property. Feels like staying in a Balinese house with their family temple. Very nice and genuine people, always smiling and ever so polite.
The hot water reservoir is very little and you will run out of it in less than 5 minutes. It is supposed to reheat in 15 minutes but I would never get any inspite of bathing an hour after my mum. A hand-wash dispenser was provided on my explicit request but only one tiny bar soap was provided otherwise besides bath towels. No other toiletries. There are also only two usable sockets in the room which had lamps connected to them, so if you want to use one, you have to disconnect a bedside lamp.

Verified reviewVery good location- close to the major areas (we walked to wherever we went) but far enough off the main street to be quiet. Lovely people and a delicious breakfast. Very clean and comfortable, wish I stayed here longer.
Slightly low water pressure, but it was very manageable and didn’t affect our stay.

Verified reviewDita is the best host ever! She’s so welcoming and supportive. She leads a super comfortable Homestay inside a traditional Balinese house. Dita’s family make you feel like home. The room is quite new and comfortable. Very silent at night for a perfect sleep. The family keeps the house full of plants which make it even more beautiful. It’s very close to everything in Ubud.
Nothing! Everything is just perfect.
