How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA little hidden gem in the midst of stillness and silence. I loved the views of the garden and the rice fields. Very quiet and wonderful vibrations. The staff was wonderful, especially the main housekeeper.
The kitchen could have been equipped with a bit more to make full use of it , and eating in.

Verified reviewThis place is one of the best we stayed at during our Bali vacation. It really is a hidden gem. The view over the rice fields is fantastic and you wake up with a smile every day. Just having a good breakfast with such a view is a highlight already. The hosts are very friendly and kind, helping us out whenever they could. They lent us some traditional clothing and Sarungs to visit the temples and we were also able to rent a scooter at a good price. The room comes with a small kitchen and a fridge. It is good for warming up food, but not well enough equipped to really cook anything. We used it to heat up food we got for pickup. Originally we were only going to stay 4 nights but we extended it to 7 nights because we liked it so much. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay, this is for you. Be sure to take a walk around the rice fields. This is much better than visiting the crowded rice fields around Ubud.
The only thing that was disturbing is the water pump. I am not sure if you can hear it from every room, but from our room it was quite loud. But you get used to it fairly quickly. If not for the water pump, this place would be absolutely perfect.

Verified reviewThe room was very clean during my stay. There is a dedicated place to do yoga, so I was able to do some exercise. Moreover, the rice field was very stunning.
The location was hidden back at a small lane. Better to use motorcycle for access. Avoid using car. All good for the rest.

Verified reviewNext to the rice field, facing Sun / Moon rise, and volcano view. Perfectly quiet. The room is fairly nice with new furnishings. Enjoyed computer time on the patio, blogging, day and night.
The garden could be better kept and more appealing. The addition of a common area would promote meeting the other guests perhaps, they have 4 rooms total. Large unused yoga area, adding a couple of hammocks and bean bags would be welcomed. The shower was inadequate at this price point, with cold water only, no pressure, nor soap/shampoo, therefore could not shave. Kitchen is rudimentary, with one pot only and too small to be shared between meals and warming water for tea or coffee. No goodies like free coffee or tea either. Saw just one young kid delivering breakfast at the wrong time, felt like jail in some ways, but better. Stayed 2 nights, the initial requests were not satisfied, and was never checked for my well-being. The place is missing a heart, unusual for Bali.

Verified reviewThe garden is lovely, and it has a large space for yoga. The room is spacious and everything was clean. We had a large veranda and a kitchen area next to our room, outdoors. The staff were always friendly to us, even when they could not help. The breakfast was okay. Thanks to its "hidden" location, this place is quiet. The staff are happy to rent out bikes to their guests.
It can be a little paradise here, until there are issues that need to be solved quickly. There was no hot water most of the time. When we asked about it, the staff brought a new gas canister. Then for one morning we had hot water, but after that it stopped again. This time the staff could not help us in time. I personally don't mind a cold shower, but we are traveling with a baby. The remote location is charming, but the long alleyway leading to the entrance is a little narrow and difficult to navigate with a bike. The sign at the road side is not that big so it is easy to miss the entrance altogether (the name "hidden guesthouse" is fitting). Traffic at the street can be very busy and dangerous like everywhere in Ubud: unless you want to risk being hit by a bike or car, don't try to walk around the neighbourhood.
