How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI liked that is was not too far from the city without being too busy. The female staff member Eda was very accommodating and helpful before she left. It was safe and quiet in that area.
Language was a barrier especially when we arrived late and the staff member was pleasant but could not direct us for food as we were hungry. There was no safe or satellite TV as advertised. The guesthouses are bit run down and had a mould smell. The streets and from of the property was very dark at night we could not find it easily.

Verified reviewNothing
The hotel is full of mold, even the quilts were moldy, it is not possible for me to lay my two children in moldy rooms. I informed the hotel and checked out early and I couldn't get my money back. Don't go.

Verified reviewLocation was ok, and the compound was good.
I came very late as my flight was arriving late. I had written a message about my checkin time and I specifically wrote them to have staff there for the checkin. They confirmed somebody would wait for my arrival. I arrived around midnight, there were no one, I waited around 15 mins. Staff came and opened the door for me. The room was dirty and there were too many bugs in the room. I felt like they did the cleaning one month ago. There was a big cockroach in the bathroom (which is acceptable as we are in a forest) but huge stain on the pillow and several spots in the bedsheet is not acceptable. The moment I started observing the bedsheet, I found more. Little bugs, little flies and one spider was walking in the bed!! I spent 20 minutes cleaning the bed. I put my shawl on the bed and slept like this. Couldnt use the pillows. Couldnt sleep with this bad psychology and my whole night was spoiled. Before I went to the bed, I texted the owner/ manager that I had the whsatpp number, I sent all the photos I am attaching here. As a reply I got : oh I am sorry, please contact marketing. THIS IS THE SERVICE YOU MIGHT GET IF YOU STAY IN THIS PLACE. Just to set your expectation!

Verified reviewThe staff was very very nice & friendly, moreover the location of the hotel is fascinating, it’s sort of in a junglish area very beautiful.
We arrived around 9.50 in the night & no one was there, we had already collected our key & had to ask the wifi password from next door neighbour.

Verified reviewThe hosts were lovely and friendly. Cooked a fresh breakfast to order everyday. Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable.
Location-due to traffic it took ages to get to and from town but if you have a bike it shouldn’t be a problem.

Verified reviewI don’t have much to say. The staff were lovely, friendly and did an exceptional job, always down to help. It is far from the city center of Ubud but we didn’t mind because we wanted to relax and escape from all of the city noise. Moreover, the bed and the pillows were very comfortable, as I needed it for my neck. Last thing I have to say is that they clean the room everyday! I would love to stay in De Rekun again.
Minor things that didn’t affect my staying .

Verified reviewWe enjoyed the stay. The room was clean so was the bathroom. Air con worked well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was great.
This depends on your preference. But it is in a very quiet area so if you need to go to Ubud centre you have to take a scooter/taxi.

Verified reviewLovely villa style property with clean rooms. My room was cleaned each day. The owners / staff were lovely and made me feel very welcome and helped me with a few requests. Ive stayed in a few places in Ubud and De Rekun is one of my favourites. A quiet little spot. I had the best nights sleep for the duration of my stay. A quick scooter ride to some great restaurants.
Nothing to note. A little bit of construction noise during the day but nothing too major.

Verified reviewThe bed and pillows were very comfy. It was difficult to get out of bed cause it was comfy. I liked that they had a little kitchen area with a fridge for everyone to use. Staff was really nice. I liked that the bathroom had a bench in it to set my stuff.
It was kind of tucked away from things. Then the sounds of construction nearby. Not an issue in the room though, but that loud frog in the pond next door to my room needs a new friend to keep it company. Only real complaint is that the light switch for the room was located on the opposite end of the bed next to the night stand. Not a convenient spot.
