Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe arrived around 9.50 in the night & no one was there, we had already collected our key & had to ask the wifi password from next door neighbour.
The staff was very very nice & friendly, moreover the location of the hotel is fascinating, it’s sort of in a junglish area very beautiful.

United Kingdomit isn't equipped for long term stay. I have stayed in 10 different accomodations in Bali and unfortunately this was the most disappointing and overall poor value for money. I hope this review is constructive for change as the place has a lot of potential - no water on during the first 24h of my stay, and the water on the following morning was dark brown and smelly. Of course it's a sewage problem but would be nice to get it fixed faster - room didn't get cleaned regularly, I had to ask a few times and the staff apologised but the room still didn't get cleaned - you're unable to flush toilet paper (combined with lack of room cleaning this is extremely unhygienic, as the only bin in the room is an exposed bin with no lid). there are giant signs in the bathroom not to flush - no amenities - this was by far the poorest equipped accomodation I stayed at in Bali. no storage (no place to hang your clothes), no shampoo, the shower gel felt like water as presumably diluted and didn't foam, no chair or table in room, (I dragged one of the tables from outside in), no soap to wash your hands, no kettle - overall rooms look much more aged compared to pictures, the beautiful art is covered in duct tape. I also had a lot of strange cables and wiring hanging from the tv in all the rooms I stayed in - noisy construction site outside of the room. The staff very kindly let me move rooms after I tried to cut my stay short, but half of the homestay is outside of a noisy construction site. the glass door is the only source of light, so my choice was sitting in the dark or having the workers look inside my room 1 meter away from the door... of course everyone was very nice and didn't try to bother you but still
Wonderful staff and owners - welcoming, hospitable and lovely. It pains me to write a mixed review but everything else was disappointing. For short-term stays (1-2 nights) it might be ok if you plan to only sleep there, but otherwise I cannot recommend it. - Internet worked very well in some areas (not as good in some others but good for bali) - high-quality AC - overall on the days when my room did get cleaned, the cleaner did a very good job - great location in a remote area yet close to central Ubud - good laundry service

AustraliaThe shower wasn't working. TV is not connected to any cable. Location. Doesn't have any meal options except breakfast. we didn't mind walking, but it was far from anything, as there were no places to eat nearby, about 20-30min walk to just eat. Maybe they can look at adding this. Bed was hard to sleep on. We only stayed 1 night tho initially I had booked 5, husband said no, he wanted to be comfortable and we checked out the next morning.
The hosts were very hospitable and friendly. The room was clean and tidy. The serenity and quiet which I didn't mind but husband was not a fan.

AustraliaLanguage was a barrier especially when we arrived late and the staff member was pleasant but could not direct us for food as we were hungry. There was no safe or satellite TV as advertised. The guesthouses are bit run down and had a mould smell. The streets and from of the property was very dark at night we could not find it easily.
I liked that is was not too far from the city without being too busy. The female staff member Eda was very accommodating and helpful before she left. It was safe and quiet in that area.

United Arab EmiratesI came very late as my flight was arriving late. I had written a message about my checkin time and I specifically wrote them to have staff there for the checkin. They confirmed somebody would wait for my arrival. I arrived around midnight, there were no one, I waited around 15 mins. Staff came and opened the door for me. The room was dirty and there were too many bugs in the room. I felt like they did the cleaning one month ago. There was a big cockroach in the bathroom (which is acceptable as we are in a forest) but huge stain on the pillow and several spots in the bedsheet is not acceptable. The moment I started observing the bedsheet, I found more. Little bugs, little flies and one spider was walking in the bed!! I spent 20 minutes cleaning the bed. I put my shawl on the bed and slept like this. Couldnt use the pillows. Couldnt sleep with this bad psychology and my whole night was spoiled. Before I went to the bed, I texted the owner/ manager that I had the whsatpp number, I sent all the photos I am attaching here. As a reply I got : oh I am sorry, please contact marketing. THIS IS THE SERVICE YOU MIGHT GET IF YOU STAY IN THIS PLACE. Just to set your expectation!
Location was ok, and the compound was good.

NetherlandsMinor things that didn’t affect my staying .
I don’t have much to say. The staff were lovely, friendly and did an exceptional job, always down to help. It is far from the city center of Ubud but we didn’t mind because we wanted to relax and escape from all of the city noise. Moreover, the bed and the pillows were very comfortable, as I needed it for my neck. Last thing I have to say is that they clean the room everyday! I would love to stay in De Rekun again.

Czech RepublicThis depends on your preference. But it is in a very quiet area so if you need to go to Ubud centre you have to take a scooter/taxi.
We enjoyed the stay. The room was clean so was the bathroom. Air con worked well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was great.

AustraliaNothing to note. A little bit of construction noise during the day but nothing too major.
Lovely villa style property with clean rooms. My room was cleaned each day. The owners / staff were lovely and made me feel very welcome and helped me with a few requests. Ive stayed in a few places in Ubud and De Rekun is one of my favourites. A quiet little spot. I had the best nights sleep for the duration of my stay. A quick scooter ride to some great restaurants.

United StatesIt was kind of tucked away from things. Then the sounds of construction nearby. Not an issue in the room though, but that loud frog in the pond next door to my room needs a new friend to keep it company. Only real complaint is that the light switch for the room was located on the opposite end of the bed next to the night stand. Not a convenient spot.
The bed and pillows were very comfy. It was difficult to get out of bed cause it was comfy. I liked that they had a little kitchen area with a fridge for everyone to use. Staff was really nice. I liked that the bathroom had a bench in it to set my stuff.
