How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Some renovation going on (but we knew this up front so it’s fine). Direct location is a bit middle of nowhere. Our room had some electrical problems.

Verified reviewRooms are really clean, beds were comfortable and the staff at the hotel were really really lovely. It’s about a 15min walk from the harbour, and I think in a nicer, quieter part of the island
There’s a lot of building work going on, so I did turn up and think I was entering a building site. I think they are trying to build more rooms, but when you are woken up everyday between 8 and 9am to the sound of power tools it ruins your ability to relax. Similarly the pool is great, but it’s hard to want to sit out there and relax and chill because all you can hear is the building works and the work men shouting to each other. It’s also worth nothing that the restaurant in the hotel is closed other than for a basic breakfast. If I’m being honest I think if I’d have known about all the building works I’d have chosen to stay somewhere else as I wanted to come to Gili to chill and relax Finally, I think the streets leading off the main road to the hotel could do with some lighting. The sun goes down at 6:30/7 and it is located off quite dark quieter side streets which have a lot of tree roots are quite uneven which without any lights are quite daunting as a solo traveller

As for the darker part of the road leading to the property, we completely understand your concern. However, this area is outside of our property boundaries and unfortunately not under our management or control. The cleanness of Gili air island it self is not good. Too much trash on the nature and sea. It’s big problem and must be improve. Otherwise, there is not profitable to go Gili Air anymore.

The location is not the best, 20 min walking distance from the port ( with luggage and sun is hell) and the streets when it rains are muddy.

Verified reviewQuiet location but still close to the north beaches. You can reach all points in the island within 20 min max walking distance. Staff were very friendly. They let us do a late check-out at no extra cost. Free drinking water at the reception. Swimming pool is OK.
Breakfast is sufficient but quite limited. You also need to wait too long for it (even though you must tell them the night before what and when you want your breakfast). This can be critical if you have some excursion right after that. Not a biggie: there were renovation works going on, with construction materials all over the place (it felt a bit like we were staying in a closed hotel). Sockets did not work in the room.
