How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had such a very nice stay at Coffee Bunk! Dany and the entire staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. I especially appreciated the great coffee and the variety available every day, it was the perfect way to start each morning. Dany went above and beyond by showing me around the neighborhood, including the Chinese market, museum, and temple... We also had some truly interesting and meaningful conversations that made my stay even more memorable. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewVery near the airport. The owner was friendly and helpful. SO CHEAP. The bed is comfortable with my own power plug and lamp. There is a small cafe to chill and relax.
Locker was a bit too small for my backpack. There is no soap in one of the showering stalls. The hostel is beside the road so it is quite noisy the whole night.

Verified reviewThe host Dany is super nice and welcoming. He made our stay pleasurable. The coffee is the best we’ve ever had in Indonesia.
The temperature in the bathroom was a little bit too hot.

Verified reviewDany was the best host— beyond kind and helpful! Knowledgeable about travel routes and travel questions. Free water and water bottle + towel included. Conveniently located only 25 min ride from the airport and 5 minutes from the train station that connects the rest of Jakarta. I will be back!!
Basic but comfortable accommodation— they even reached out to me after Beijing but before arriving to make sure that I was okay with the type of budget accommodation they offer. I was very pleased!

Verified reviewSmall cheap hostel close to the airport (around 20 min with grab or car), it is also a coffee where some sports games can be diffused. It is also a few minutes walking from Chinatown. The owner is really nice and will give you many advice about Jakarta and Indonesia at all, he speaks perfect english. He is a coffee expert and can talk about it like no one i ever met before. He purpose transfer for airport. Rooms are clean. It is near a road, but the owner gives you earplugs and from my honest experience as a backpacker, it’s not really noisy for a Hostel in a big city. Really good place to stay for backpacker looking for cheap and clean traditionnal hostel.

Verified reviewThen manager Danny is truly the best part of this stay. Him and his tea are so helpful and kind. They prepare the best foods and coffee. Danny helped me with downloading the best apps to use to get around town.
The area does not have many tourists so not many people can speak English. Restaurants don't have menus in English. It's unfortunately on a very busy street so a two to three day stay would be recommended for those passing through. Not ideal for light sleepers. You should not be complaining about the noise after seeing this review. Lol! And no hot water.

Verified reviewAs a female solo traveller I felt very safe and comfortable here and it was so clean and welcoming. Dany makes sure you have everything you need: own personal water bottle to refill, ear plugs and hand sanitizer extra positives were good wifi, nice aircon, toiletries and a small locker and an extra perk of it also being a coffeee shop so you don’t have to venture far if you’re tired from a long journey for something nice to drink and eat and a nice rooftop area to chill in. Generally also so so helpful (I left something behind when I went to the airport and I got it back/sorted immediately and sent to me at the airport with Dany’s help and good communication so quick before my flight left) amazing value for money probably the best place to stay that’s close to the airport in Jakarta - I can’t recommend it enough
For the price you pay it goes above and beyond expectations so no complaints

Verified reviewThe hostel was incredibly accommodating and flexible. I arrived at 4:00 AM, and the staff member kindly stayed up to check me in. Despite other guests being around, I had a room to myself, which was a pleasant surprise. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. I especially loved the communal area downstairs—the themed decor added a great vibe, and it was nice to relax while watching sports on the TV. I was also able to check out late for a very reasonable fee. Overall, a great experience!

Verified reviewDanny is amazing, helps you with everything The staff are super nice and always smiling. Bonus is the coffee you can get there. Very simple and straightforward, comfortable place to stay in Indonesia.
This is not in the hostel's control at all. It's the traffic noise.

Verified reviewI spent one night in a 4 beds dorm and I had a great time! Dany, the host, is amazing. So, so nice, available and helpful. He took time to help me a lot with all the questions I had. You can also ask for him to come pick you up at the airport for 160k roupies. It’s a 30min ride. The hostel is nice and clean. Beds are really comfortable (both mattress and pillow) and the sheets are clean. There is AC. They also give free drinkable water and earplugs. There is a nice rooftop and the ground floor is a cafe where you can get breakfast. Metro station 10min walk. Supermarket 5min walk. I will definitely come back if I need an accomodation near the airport in Jakarta! Thank you again for everything.
There is no hot water. I don’t care at all, but some people do so, just so you know.

It was still quite far from the airport and there was nothing around, it was in a very dead area of town.
