Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsOur stay at the Coffee Homestay was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, Hari made us feel incredibly welcome. He is a fantastic host, very kind and attentive, and he speaks excellent English, which made it easy and fun to have great conversations with him about all kinds of topics. Hari also went out of his way to make our experience special by guiding us on a tour through the Monkey Forest as well as the beautiful rice fields and waterfalls nearby. His knowledge of the area and willingness to share stories really added something extra to our trip. The bungalows themselves were spotless, spacious and equipped with all amenities making them a very comfortable place to stay. Unfortunately, we could only stay for one night, but we truly wished we had booked more time there. It’s definitely a place you want to stay for longer since there is tons to do and see. We would really recommend Coffee Homestay to anyone visiting the area. And one more tip: as others have mentioned, Hari is a very good Uno player, so be ready for a challenge if you sit down for a game with him!

BelgiumWhen we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Hari and his family. He explained in detail what we could do in Tetebatu and even lent us his scooter to explore the area. I would definitely recommend this place, as it offers everything you could wish for a homestay.

AustraliaJust a little issue with hot water the first night, which has been solved immediately.
We had an amazing experience in Coffee Homestay. Hari was really welcoming and available for us, great chats, sharing his knowledge and stories, we even got a little concert. It's a really authentic place, in the middle of coffee, cacao, and banana trees. Most important is people around, locals and travellers who are here to discover each other (We learned how to roast coffee). Surroundings are awesome. We can walk from the room to Tetebatu waterfalls through the Black Monkey Forest and rice fields. Just be careful, it's around the mountain and it can be cold during the night. We really loved Tetebatu, we will come back.

AustraliaThis is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Don’t hesitate to book it. Harry and his community are so welcoming and generous. Harry organised scooter hire and a tour of the local waterfalls, spice market and a bamboo weaving enterprise. He even invited us to a local ceremony to celebrate a new building. The rooms are small but well equipped and very clean. If you want somewhere off the beaten track with a real community feel to it then this is a must. Just bring earplugs if you want a lie in!

Netherlands⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing stay at Coffee Homestay! The rooms are very clean and new. The bed was great, and the shower had good pressure and hot water. No AC needed, since Tetebatu is higher, so it is cooler. Hari (the owner) and Angi speak perfectly English, and even a bit of Spanish and Dutch! Everyone here is very welcoming, and all the 3 nights we stayed here, we played some cardgames in the evening with multiple members of the family. We did the walking tour with Eman and Jay, which was great! The surroundings are very beautiful. Also one night there was a open English course at Hari’s home, which is there twice a week to support the local community. You can help out if you want to, which we really liked. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we were sad we had to leave so soon already, but next time when we are in Indonesia we will definitely be back. Hati hati!

FranceAn incredible and very local place. You'll discover how the locals live in Tetebatu, far from the busy, touristy places. We visited beautiful waterfalls, saw black monkeys and learned about the local culture with people of all ages. We made unforgettable memories, so don't hesitate to go. Many thanks to the whole homestay family, Harry, Anggi, Aguil, Eman, ajyam and all the others 🫶

United KingdomNo A/C, but as we were in an elevated position, it was actually quite cool at night.
Small site run by a family. They were very warm & welcoming. We visited out of season during Ramadan. And as very few restaurants were open, the family invited us to share a meal with them, which was very thoughtful.

GermanyIts a very authentic place in the middle of the community of tetebatu, right now they offer 2 cabins with private bathroom, it is exceptionally clean and also equipped with towels and water bottles. Hari will take care of you and show you his village if you ask him to, he is a great host and will make sure you have a nice stay. His friends and family are also very warm and welcoming and you can sit anytime with them, especially for dinner, which is locally harvested and processed food from great taste and quality. It is quite far up the hill, but the road is still in good condition, except the last few meters. If you want to stay in tetebatu, you should go here, because you can really experience the true culture of the sasak people here. Thank you a lot for having me.

Switzerlandwe booked a tour with hari and sadly we were a little bit disappointed. we told him we only had 3 hours instead of 6 and our priority are ricefields. on the tour it seemed like he wanted to sqeeze the 6 hours tour into 3 and we rushed through the ricefields and eventhough we said we've already seen one of the waterfalls he still brought us there and made us pay the entrance of 20k each. it wasn't a lot of money, but we wanted to see something else and we thought we communicated that properly. he did not really respond to our wishes. he really knows a lot about the ricefields and the culture but he only gave us some information when we asked for it. so in this case the value for money was not good. - Unfortunately there was no mosquito net over the bed
we really liked the homestay, the surroundings we're really beautiful and the family was really really welcoming and kind. the owner hari speaks really good english. the food was delicious and everything was clean.
