How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Verified reviewUnfortunately this place was a miss for us. I don't like giving negative feedback but it maybe helpful for someone else when they are looking at their booking options. The place was very large but we found the cleanliness disappointing. The rooms were on different levels and with different access points which made it awkward safety wise with the kids and locking the doors at night (although the main entrance to the property was through one door through the owners garage/entranceway). The location was not great and really didnt work for us with primary aged children - it was out of the way and difficult to get around, the roads were very narrow and windy with no where to walk beside them. We felt like we got overcharged anytime we got a ride as there were no "blue taxi's" around or ones with regulated pricing. The area in general had a lot of large abandoned hotels. We were booked to stay two nights but ended up finding last minute accommodation somewhere else and moving after one night.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry if the cleanliness was not to your and our expected standard, we have taken measures to implement improvement in this area. We have staff that live onsite and double as security, every room door is lockable, we understand your apprehension for your children's safety, but we can't change the layout of the villa. When you make your booking, we send our location on Google Maps, we do this so you are aware of our location and you can investigate the area, to know if it is an area that you want to stay. You may be correct in saying that Bluebird taxi's are not so common on the bukit, but the area is well serviced by online transport companies Grab and Gojek. What price you negotiated for your transport is between your and the driver and outside of the accommodation providers control. I expect the cost you paid for transport was less than you would pay in your home country. As you mentioned, you only stayed 1 night, so not sure how many times you used transport in that 24 hours to feel that the price was too high. There are no sidewalk/footpaths in the area as yet, but that is outside of our control and hopefully the local government will be addressing this in the not too distant future. We expect that the few abandoned hotels that you refer to, are in the Pecatu Graha area more than 1km away, are not in our immediate vicinity and we have no control over their completion or reopening. Thank you again for your review, we will make changes within our control, we hope you made it back to your home country safely.

Verified reviewThe hosts were lovely and ensured we were comfortable. They even decorated the villa for a birthday while we were out. The pool was lovely and our kids had a great time. The main area of the house was great for our group. The kids were able to be secured and hang out. There was a tv with access to Netflix and heaps of dvds. Kitchen was usable and heaps of space for groceries. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. There is a large grocery shop 100m from the villa along with an amazing Italian restaurant across the road. A laundromat is also less than 100m from the villa.
There wasn’t much that we didn’t like about the villa. The only downside was even though it was secure for the kids and that we could lock up the main area. It was still open air from the upstairs area so we had to be more vigilant in having coils going all the time.

Verified reviewDear Coconuts Villa Management, Thank you for your response for my previous review. However, we feel it’s important to address some inaccuracies and clarify our experience. 1. Initial Impression: Upon arrival at 8 PM after a grueling two-hour journey through heavy traffic and poorly maintained roads, our family was exhausted and disappointed. Contrary to your claim, we did not compliment the villa. Our focus was on settling in after a stressful trip. Any positive remarks later would have been polite acknowledgments, not reflections of our true first impressions. And to my knowledge, no one in my family has made a positive comment. 2. Cleaning Issues: We explicitly requested additional cleaning for the downstairs bathroom the next day before leaving for dinner at 4.13PM. Despite this, we returned to find a yellow slimy stain still on the floor, which we had to clean ourselves. The dirty pool towels which we left on the floor (room downstairs) and expecting it to be cleaned away was apparently being picked up and placed in our closet. That’s why we threw it outside the next day to assure it’s not being put back. This contradicts your assertion that we never raised the issue. The staff’s efforts were clearly insufficient in this instance. 3. Location and Traffic: While we understand Bali’s traffic is a broader issue, the roads leading to your villa were notably bumpy and inconvenient, contributing to our negative experience. Acknowledging this reality—rather than dismissing it—would demonstrate a commitment to transparency for future guests. Therefore I suggest all guest to leave at least 2 hrs early for any plans. We appreciate the challenges of running a hospitality business, but honesty about our experience is paramount. Our review was intended to highlight areas for improvement, not to disparage unfairly. We hope this feedback helps you address these issues for future guests.
Thank you for your review, it helps us understand our guests expectations and helps us improve what is within our control. We Do Not promote our property to be "luxury" and our nightly rate at approximately $35 USD per person, including breakfast is not unreasonable, especially as 22% of that fee is spent on government taxes and 3rd party booking engine commissions. In saying that, we would like to address some of your comments. As much as your review said that you were exhausted from being in gruelling traffic for 2 hours before you arrived at the villa, that is not something we have any control over. Was it an uncomfortable car, that you came in? Did the car have bad suspension, was the driver not driving smoothly, was the route that he took using back roads to attempt to avoid traffic? We are sympathetic and sorry that your initial Bali transport experience was not what you expected, but we don't understand how any part of it is a reflection of the villa. In our initial booking confirmation message to you, we offered airport transfers and advised that a car takes a maximum of 4 people plus luggage, we also went on to say feel free to arrange your own transport to the villa, which you did which at least partially led to your initial experience. Firstly when your group arrived at the villa at least 1 person commented to the staff, that the villa was nice and clean, maybe you didn't make the comment, but more than one of your group said "the rooms were nice and cool and clean!" to the staff. In your review you said your "bathroom" wasn't clean and that your requsted that the staff re clean it, after a discussion with the staff, they don't recall that the request was made and we can only assume that there may have been a misunderstanding, if you felt like you had to clean that portion of the bathroom floor, we thank you and appologise wholeheartedly, for that happening. We have rectified the issue with the offending bath mat that caused the problem. In regard to your comment about the dirty pool towel, the pool towel was not dirty when it was provided to you, we expect that you may have meant that after you dried yourself with it, it was damp and that you left it on the floor, for the staff to hang up for you? The towel or towels in question were not put in the closet, as you have stated, why would they be? They were put on the bamboo drying rack to dry. We don't change the towels everyday like a luxury hotel might do. We clean and tidy the villa daily and we change the towels and linen every 3rd day, which I expect is more often than you would change them in your home country. For you to then take the pool towel or towels and "throw them outside", as you stated, it could be construed as disrespectful, but maybe you didn't quite mean that statement and it maybe that you placed them outside, but didn't mention anything about the towels to the staff. The main door is not broken at all, it closes properly, there is a knack to getting the lock to latch and you were informed that there was a floor latch if you couldn't latch the main lock! In saying this, all the bedrooms have locks on the doors, for your piece of mind and convenience. Our staff live on-site 24/7 and double as security, there is no safety issue in our location. You mentioned that you didn't like the location, but we sent you the Google map location as soon as you booked, so you would better know where you would be staying and if it suited your requirements, its our expectation that you use the information that we provide, to better understand if the area suits your holiday requirements. Your comments about roads and traffic is misleading, as at least 1 kilometre of the road leading to the villa was resurfaced 12 months ago and is smooth, albeit a little winding before you arrive at the villa. We expect that you are, or maybe judging traffic a road, or roads nowhere near the villa and you may not even be referring to the main road to the villa. We don't have a traffic problem near the villa, its our understanding that your review should be about the immediate vicinity of the villa, as we have no control over road quality, the traffic, or the car, driver and route your driver chooses, to deliver you to your destination. If you wanted an accurate understanding of the time it would take to arrive at a destination that you may have wanted to visit, its best to use the Google Maps application and it would have given you approximate travel times and any possible congestion to guide you with your travel decisions. The Bali traffic issue has been well documented on social media and news reports. It has nothing to do with our villa, any other villa, hotel, or accomodation provider in Bali. It is an issue on all major roads and in all area's, its totally outside our immediate vicinity and control. It is an Indonesian government issue to resolve, we have no say over, what, when or where the government invests their money on road infrastructure, your issue with the quality of roads and traffic needs to be directed to the Indonesian or Balinese government. Thank you for taking the time to write your review, rest assured we will make the changes within our control. To people that may be reading this review, please look at our other guests reviews to get a fairer understanding of our villa and our staff that are rated very highly. Kind Regards Coconuts Villa Management and Staff.

Verified reviewThe setting is beautiful and quiet. The staff were amazing, polite and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and cooked to order everyday. Plenty of Bingtangs in the fridge! The area is away from the hustle and bustle so was lovely and peaceful which suited us as a family of 5. 30 second walk to a well-stocked supermarket and a handful of warungs for dinner. You definitely need transport from here but grab taxis came in 5 minutes all day long to explore different parts of south Bali. Balangan beach was 5 minutes away - gorgeous sunsets and beach bars. Little pool was great for the kids but the water could be a little warmer though!! Would definitely stay here again!! Thank you!
Nothing.

Verified reviewGede and his wife were fantastic hosts, always very willing to help. They were able to transport us to the beach and nearby restaurants, as well as assisting with surfboard, scooter hire as well as organising a masseur to come to the Villa. I cannot speak highly enough of the hosts and this accomodation. This property itself was a wonderful place for us to stay- it was extremely spacious, well furnished, with each bedroom having its own bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the surroundings were extremely pleasant. The pool was really well cared for, with plenty of lounge chairs and a day bed around the pool which made it all the more relaxing and enjoyable.

All good, we enjoyed our stay, but perhaps the property needs a little bit of tlc (painting etc, was looking a little tired in places)

Verified reviewI was looking for a villa for my family of 5 that needed 3 rooms or more, with a pool. Most places have crazy prices so when I stumbled upon this hidden gem, I immediately booked it. It was better that I thought too! The room sizes were big, all areas air-conditioned, full size kitchen (we cooked a little bit), good size and comfy lounge areas. There was a live-in staff as well so if anything happened (and something did happen in our case-we lost one of the room keys) a staff member would be available to help at all times. The manager was very communicative, from the moment we landed, until we left. The rates also includes breakfast choices, which is always a plus. But having a kitchen also helps if you wish to have something different. I would have given a score of 10 but opted for 9 as I couldn't give 9.5. When we landed I heard from the manager that one of the air-conditioning units was broken and that they were attempting to fix it before we arrived. I was thoroughly happy with the Communication levels as I prefer open communication in general. We weren't going to be back until after dinner anyway so I told them this was fine. He then contacted that they could not fix it so they were going to get it replaced by the end of the day. Anywho, long story short, a new working unit was up and running before bedtime. Big win. I thoroughly appreciate the level of care and service because, let's be honest, finding someone to fix an air-conditioning unit at the last minute, then buying and installing a new one on the same day, that's impressive. I definitely recommend this villa, it's at such a great price. It is located in a further quieter area so if you're looking to stay in the heart of life, then this wouldn't be for you. However, if you're looking for a quiet getaway, that's probably 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle, then this would suit well. Thank you for the staff who took care of us very well, much appreciated.
There was a tiny fright when we saw a small dead snake by the pool but hey, island living and lots of green around. You can't blame them for nature :) they did take care of it very quickly. You'll probably find this more common than you think in Bali.

The Villa was very spacious and clean. The beer fridge was handy too!. It's close to a supermarket too and a nice cafe down the road.
It's not walking distance to the beach so you'll need a bike or get Gede to run you down. 5 min drive. The bed's were a little hard for my liking but no too bad.

Verified reviewThe villa is beautiful and peaceful, with trees and plants and a lovely pool to cool down in. The family who look after the villa are wonderful. Gede, Nanga and Putu are so friendly and kind, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is delicious and they offer an evening bbq which is well worth doing, delicious and good value. Gede will drive you where you need to go. The villa is large and so are the bedrooms with Balinese furniture and comfortable beds. We loved our stay at Coconuts Villa and would happily return!
The kitchen is very basic and could do with more amenities. The kettle didn't switch off for example. However it is very cheap and easy to order food in so it wasn't much of an issue.

Verified reviewSpacious and a very friendly host. Supermart was literally like a minute walk. Super convenient. The neighbours kittens occasionally gave us a friendly visit which my daughter enjoyed 😁
All were good, no complaints. Only thing, It is indeed a long walk to the beach from the Villa which we were aware of even before booking and the host offered us a drive to the beach, but we got over ambitious and tried to walk the distance. Ended up literally dragging ourselves back to Villa in the mid day sun 😁
