How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

- hot shower is available but not by the rooms. Initially I wasn’t told about it, so would have had cold shower if another guest hadn’t said
- friendly helpful staff - came back 3 times (due to error in trip plan) very welcoming and remembered me! - overall very welcoming to guests - facilities are good, warms showers available - dormitory’s are decent

Really nice Homestay in the center of Ruteng. The staff is super helpful and kind, breakfast is very good and the whole place is super clean. I recommend big time when if you plan on staying a couple of nights in Ruteng

Noisy road at night (but nothing to do with the property)
Amazing people own the place! It is so friendly and family-orientated here. We were really taken care of. Good location - right next to the bus station. Great Indonesian breakfast. Clean, spacious room with hot water

Great hostel,one of the best.Staff great,dorm room cosy, bathroom spacious and clean,comfy relaxing area with couches and tea,coffee etc.Great restaurant as well with delicious food and frequented by many Indonesians which is a good sign.Breakfast either western on Indonesian,both tasty and more than adequate.Owners birthday and all the guests were treated to a lovely meal,birthday cake and endless rounds of sope.Also next door to travel agency for luxury buses east or west.Pool table as well.Ticked all the boxes!

I spent 3 nights at Chacha Homestay and found it was a great place to stay and has everything a traveller requires A special mention must go to the family and staff who run this homestay because they create a lovely relaxed and convivial atmosphere and are always happy to talk and help with any questions. I would recommend staying here without hesitation.

No hot showers in the bath next to the dormitory but you can just go to the Main bildung and shower there so also fine :)
Such a lovely place! Right next to the busstation, the family is the cutest and helps with everything. They offer food in thd restaurant and in addition in the homestay for the guest in the evening. So a very good all in all solution

Clean room and shared bathroom. Good location to explore the city and it's sorroundings. Free drinking water and tasty breackfast. Very friendly and welcoming hostfamily. Staff Siska and Emil were very helpful and kind. You could tell the staff cared – not just about their work, but about the people who came to stay. I enjoyed the family dinner and the billiard game with the locals.

The road was a little noisy at some times
I had a great stay at ChaCha homestay! Siska welcomed me and she was very helpful. The room was very clean and confortable. I ate at the restaurant and the food was delicious. Siska put me in contact with Yuven, a local guide who took me on a tour to see the ricefields. I would definitely recommend using him as you will get a whole different experience of Ruteng.

Sleep. Nearby dogs were howling and crying and didnt stop for hours, but that is an external factor. The family is amazing.
Amazing family. We had a great time celebrating Easter with them and other families. We are grateful for the invite and the delicious food. Breakfast was also nice and creative: a breaky burger.

Had a great experience staying with Chacha. The family is very welcoming and made us feel like a part of the family. The food was also some of the best we’ve had in Indonesia.

A little noisy as close to a main road.
Amazing family hosts with great meals on offer in house. Exceptionally clean rooms and great hot showers. Next door to Gunung Mas office which is great for travelling further. Terrific breakfast.

Chacha Homestay was our true highlight in Ruteng and is a fantastic place to stay! The rooms are very well-equipped, extremely clean, and comfortable. The breakfast and food you can order there is delicious, with vegetarian options as well. The staff is incredibly friendly, always helpful, and easy to reach if you need anything. The owners are so lovely and welcoming and we really much enjoyed spending time with them and chatting. They can really help with anything and organized a scooter and a transport for us. Plus, the location is perfect, right next to Gunung Mas. Thank you to all for the great time 🫶

We had a great time at Chacha Homestay! Very kind and helpful hosts, we ate with the family, had an amazing breakfast, got great information on what to visit and also the scooter renting was extremely convenient and done by the host. The sanitary facilities are clean and spacious. The location is really good (walking to the market in 8 min). It is located right next to Gunung Mas Bus (good transportation option on Flores). Thank you, Jofan, Ayu and the whole team very much! We would love to come back and can highly recommend it.
