How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLove the idea of the open dorm with the hammock style beds.
- The locker fell apart (so not particularly secure). - The breakfast is tiny. - The dorm setup with the mosquito net and fan didn't work well for me.

Verified reviewPool and garden, overall facilities were great. The flying beds were a unique and very beautiful experience. It is fantastic to sleep outdoors with no AC.
Noise from the parties at the beach bars on the weekends. The beach is a 2 minute walk which is a bonus but because of the open construction of the sleeping area the music is very loud.

Verified reviewVery calm and clean, beautiful cmon area around the pool to chill, sit and swim!! Highlight of my accommodations so far The beds are free hanging, so it was really nice to swing a bit back and forth when you’re laying down. Also the mixed dorm is essentially outside but that was really great for the wind
The lockers in the common are hard to open and close - they didn’t seem well tended to

Verified reviewThe layout of the place was a vibe nice pool and sunbaking area and the staff were very accommodating, would definitely recommend
As there’s not much to complain about at all the only thing we found we didn’t enjoy the food for breakfast that much but was included so all all pretty good It is also worth noting that this is a very family friendly hostel so there were lots of families with young kids when we were there.

Verified reviewI loved everything about this hostel. You get to sleep in hanging beds and enjoy the fabulous design of the place. My highlight is most definitely the fabulous hostel staff! I had the best chats and hangs with them! ... also got a surprise cake on my birthday which was soooo special! My heart is there in Gili!

Verified reviewThe biggest plus point is the lovely pool and chill area outside! It is possible to book a snorkeling trip through them and to have your laundry washed.
We booked the dormitory but got our own bungalow when checking in (assuming we received an upgrade). Turns out it was a mix-up and we were put in the dormitory after all when returning to the hostel at 22 o'clock. While the staff was friendly, we felt it would have been appropriate to offer some kind of compensation (e.g., breakfast) for the confusion. The walls of the shared showers are pretty low, which limits privacy.
Hi, Thank you so much for your feedback, we do apologize for the confusion as we understand there was another guest with a similar name than you that day when you checked in that had booked the Private room, unfortunately because you did not correct reception when you were given the room key we did not realize this until you returned. We never told you it was an upgrade and you never told us that you booked the lodge not the private room, it was an honest mistake from us but you knew it was a mistake and you choose to take the opportunity, we do not believe it was appropriate for us to offer any compensation as you received what you have booked for. We are taking steps to offer more privacy to the showers thank you for your feedback. Captain Coconuts

Verified reviewThe accommodation is tastefully designed, clearly reflecting the owner’s dedication and effort. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming.
We spent three nights there. Upon arrival, we reported that there was no hot water. I believe it was forgotten the first day, but when we brought it up again in the evening, they took action and had it fixed by the following afternoon. It would be great to have more sun loungers by the pool, or perhaps some kind of poolside etiquette, as a few guests reserved loungers with their towels for the whole day, even when they weren’t actually there.
Thank you for the feedback, it helps us to improve our service. I’m glad the staff were able to fix your hot water issue. I agree that guests should not be able to save sun lounges, they are there for everyone to share. The manager has now been advised that holding a lounge for hours with a towel or sarong will not be allowed.

Verified reviewThis was such a gem to stay at for our 5 nights in Gili Air. We stayed in the single swinging beds and didn’t feel there were any problems with privacy as it’s kind of sectioned into rooms anyway. They put on events like cinema nights which was a lovely treat, breakfast was unexpectedly included with limited options, pool and common areas were kept clean and inviting. Really recommend this for any friends, solo travellers or even couples (although maybe you might want the private rooms). We would definitely come back!

Verified reviewThe hostel is 15 min from the port, the breakfast was enough (not too big though), free water refill. Each bed has its own fan. It's 5 min from the beach where you can enjoy the sunset and a 15 min walk to the sunrise point on the other side of the island. The pool is nice too. Bring your own lock for the lockers
I had to get used to the swinging bed. There's no kitchen access, the hanging beds are quite short - if I slept extended, my feet were outside the mosquito net (I'm 175 cm). My net also couldn't be closed properly as my fan was in the way. The mosque nearby is loud in the morning since there are no windows blocking the noise. Shower and toilets are downstairs, not in the same floor

There are holes through the walls/doors so insects can come in and the Balinese frog was super loud at night.

Verified reviewI had an amazing stay here everything was just perfect. The staff were incredible, always friendly and welcoming, and the guests created such a good atmosphere too. I originally booked for 3 nights but ended up staying for a 8 because I just didn’t want to leave! The staff really make you feel at home they even remember your name, which adds such a personal touch. Big thanks to Indra, Rio, Wayudi, and Edy for being awesome hosts. The hostel is super clean, with fresh beds every day and a free, tasty breakfast. The pool is great for chilling and the whole place has such cozy, relaxed vibes absolutely perfect for backpackers. I met some amazing people here and would definitely come back!
For a hostel it is already very very clean. But the bathroom tiles can be cleaner.
