How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStunning view of Mount Abang from my terrace, bungalow in the midst of cabbage and onion fields, away from tourist turbulences, quiet and peaceful, very friendly staff and helpful owner. Furniture a bit outdated but I could live with that. The Villas with private outside plunge pool seem to be more modern inside and recommendable.

Verified review1. It's 5 mins walk to the Get your guide meeting point for the Mount Batur hike. 2. The staff was really nice. The location is super remote and I didn't have a motorbike but the staff kindly took me to the restaurants/shops by bike.
It's very remote and not walkable. Quite scary for a solo traveller to go anywhere especially after dark The room was dark and damp and had bugs in it. Very outdated. I didn't feel good and cut the trip short and changed to a different location.

Verified reviewGreat little place if you’re going on the jeep or ATV safari and don’t want the long transfer time. We stayed here for one night and ended up staying the day too, as we had booked the sunset jeep tour. We wanted to relax until the afternoon, but was approached by the owner with an offer to take us on a tour to go to see a nearby temple and coffee plantation which was great. The breakfast was good and the personnel was kind.
Unfortunately for some reason there were so many flies at this location. We opened the door to “wake up with a view” and within minutes we had an entire colony of flies in the room. We couldn’t eat our breakfast without swadding away flies. Hopefully this will clear up at some point. Also FYI the pool is a shallow and you can only sit in it. Overall, good value for the money.

Verified reviewLocation
Staff has almost no english knowledge, bathroom was not clean, there were leftovers after the previous guests still (candy or smt like that on the ground for example etc…). One of the two beds was ready to be throwen - impossible to sleep on it. Swimming pool was not really clean.

Verified reviewIt was a good location for the hike up Mount Batur.
There’s not a great deal in walking distance around and there are no good restaurants. The area in general has a real problem with flies which meant we couldn’t sit outside or relax by the pool. Our bungalow seemed to be the most basic of our band of rooms, but some of the others looked nicer from the outside. The doors don’t fully close and the lighting isn’t great. There’s also no Air conditioning, but they do have fans in the rooms.

Verified reviewStaff were very friendly, room and bathroom was in very good condition. The food at the restaurant was delicious and cheap, our breakfast was included and brought to the room! Host organised us a sunrise trip to Mount Batur which was incredible - thoroughly recommend. Absolutely loved our stay, would return and recommend to others! Thank you!
Nothing really! We struggled to find local warungs to eat in but that was expected given the more remote location!

Verified reviewThis small locally owned cluster of simple rooms with en suite bathrooms is comfortable and great value as a base for exploring this area or taking on Mt Batur at dawn. Nice courtyard layout with refreshingly cool little pool. The owner was so kind and attentive helping us link up with the mountain guides. Breakfast was great.
Small things only - No aircon, although at this altitude the night air is cooler, and there was an effective fan. Tricky to find, although the key final turn has a good sign.

Verified reviewThe staff were very hardworking and helpful they do everything to make your stay amazing. The views from the hotel were amazing. The mei goreng was better than outside shops.
There were too many flies in the morning so you cannot have breakfast outside. And the room could use more lights felt quite dark in the night.

Verified reviewBeautiful scenery They were helpful with requests the owner clearly wants business to do well Bed is comfortable Get what you pay for great value for money
Lack of food options. No fish no meat the only proteins on the menu. You expected instead to walk 15mins to a local restaurant. This gave an authentic feel to being half way across the world. But the resort food is rubbish. Other than the manager the support staff barely understand English. Which can’t be helped but the staff lack customer service skills. Overall it was a nice budget place to stay but don’t have high expectations

Verified reviewJero the owner was really friendly and helpful. The room was as pictured, a bit small, but comfortable enough. The bed was comfortable enough and warm, I slept well.
Flies everywhere, but this is a problem with the area, not specifically the hotel. There was only cold water in the room and the placement of the fan was not good. The breakfast was ok, but not great. The pictures make the pool look really nice, but it's quite small, only waist high and looked pretty grimy during our stay.
