How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewJet and Ratnamis are the best people you can meet, they are nice, helpful, and explain to you the Sasak culture. If you come on Saturday they will bring you to the stick fighting competition where you dive into the sasak culture, it's great. Food is good, all the people in the village are very welcoming. Loved it.

Verified reviewStaff were lovely, friendly & very hospitable, couldn't do enough for me, was really nice to stay in a village, surrounded by cows & chooks etc, really cool old cemetery near by with cool old knarly trees, great food, definitely worth the experience
Room want the best, no windows but for price was nice, roosters & call for prayer at 4am wasn't the nicest way to wake up, but hey such is life & I got back to sleep, room I got had gaps between roof & walls but nothing a bit of foam wouldn't fix

Verified reviewI had the most amazing experience stay with Jets and the all family. They taught so much about the local culture, took me to some events and even if the communication wasn't always easy, I felt a lot of warmth and happiness to share their home with me.
Don't expect luxury in amenities! It was really basic but good for me 🙂

Verified reviewIt’s hard to put into words how much I loved this place. Every person I met, every moment I experienced—it was all truly special. The food was incredible, and I’ve never felt this way after just a few days somewhere. Leaving this place made my heart hurt, but I know I’ll be back. The village is amazing, easy to explore around, and the people are incredibly welcoming. You genuinely feel like part of the community. This place is pure magic.

Verified reviewReally good experience. Really friendly people, great food and a great price. Everyone was extremely welcoming and offered us stuff throughout our stay. If I had to say one improvement it would be maybe some introductory information on arrival about where to go as not everyone speaks great English.

Verified reviewThis place will not have many amenities such as air conditioning and private bathrooms like hotels. But a great place for you to live like a local. The food prepared by the hostess is delicious. I was lucky enough to attend a party at the host wife's house. He is truly a hero in this village. He supports each family to welcome guests and earn extra income. He and his wife are very enthusiastic and wonderful. Thank you so much to your family and everyone in the village.

Verified reviewIt was lovely to see the day to day living of a local community in Lombok. We had a lovely few hours sharing snacks with the youngsters there. It was lovely to support the local community with payment for the room.
We weren't really greeted and shown around and felt quite awkward throughout our stay. There was limited interaction from our host throughout too. It wasn't the most comfortable and I wouldn't return. Not sure if this may have been impacted by preparation for Ramadan.

Verified reviewIf you want to be among locals. This is your place! The host will explain many things about local culture and customs. The place was very calm and peaceful. Relaxed atmosphere.
The bathroom is outside of the building. In the middle of cows. We loved the experience but be prepared for basic! If you like a little more luxury, this place might not be for you.

Verified reviewYou will feel like part of a big family in this place. From the moment I arrived I was super well received by different people in the village (played football, dance with them, shared meals, strawberry picking, hiking, etc...). I was travelling solo and everyone was super nice to me. Jets the manager speaks english and was super nice to take to a stick fight show, traditional sport in the area (which i loved!). The room was spacious, facilities are very simple but you come here to experience rural Lombok
all good!
