Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt’s hard to find a downside to this property but the only thing I would mention is the increased number of flies that appear in the day though this they cannot help
The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was clean and well presented and the hot spring was ready to go for my arrival. They also offered some lovely food and as a bonus they had the cutest and smallest kitten which really sealed the deal

AustraliaThe flies and bugs were a little more than I was expecting but understandable. The street noise woke us up a few times with all of the traffic heading up the mountain but we were able to have a nap once we got back in the morning.
The staff were very welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Stunning views and the private hot spring filled daily was lovely. The food was amazing. Great location if you’re heading to Mount Batur for the jeeps/hike

United KingdomThe only slight issue for us was that the road is noisy from about 3 to 4pm with all the jeeps and dirt bikes heading out for the sunrise walkers so it was a bit hard to sleep. But there was nothing at all bad about the hotel itself at all - we were very pleased with our choice.
The staff here are really very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was very good and served on your own terrace with the hot spring bath freshly filled for a morning soak. The garden is beautiful and the view to Gunung Abang is spectacular. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

FranceAmpik Batur is more than a room with private hotspring next to the Mont Batur trekking departure. Budi and all the team over there are exceptionals hosts and humans. They play guitar as soon as they can, singing balenese and english songs. We loved take a hot bath listenning them. We passed a wonderful evening with them and other french customers, next to fire camp, singing and playing guitar. A suspended moment in time. Honestly a perfect place to be if you like share quality time with people. Probably my best experience in Bali. Thanks for everything Ampik Batur, wish you the best ! 🙏

United KingdomI genuinely cannot think of a single thing.
I couldn't pinpoint a specific thing that was better than the other. Everyone was incredibly friendly, the location was nice and secluded with bars and restaurants nearby, the rooms were very well kept and clean. The breakfast provided was delicious and I seriously recommend the pancakes. When leaving they helped in getting us to our next location. When we were being driven to our next hotel, they even took us to a coffee plantation and stayed with us throughout without charging for the detour.

United StatesThe guys checking us in were very welcoming, they played acoustic guitar and sang for awhile, and got us into a less touristy hot spring at the local's rate. They even gave us a ride when we weren't sure we could find it on our own.

AustraliaNothing really , we enjoy having an aircon for sleeping and although a bit hot early evening the mountain air was much cooler than down South.
Such a clean local place , it was great to experience such hospitality and such a clean place. The facilities is very nice and although local a fantastic effort and experience with the local family. We had all our privacy yet felt close and absolutely well cared for.

TaiwanMy favourite place I have stayed in Bali. The staff made it exceptional. We had the private hot spring ♨️ the staff had it filled for us after our massage and then also after our Batur hike. The room was clean and cool and had everything we needed. Outside we had an unspoiled view of Mt Abang. At night, the stars were out and we could see the constellations from the hot spring tub too. Breakfast was delicious and we even had a welcome drink on arrival. Plenty of shops, restaurants nearby. We also organised our Mt Batur tour through Ampik and our guide was a local guy who was perfect for us. Thank you, Budi and everyone!

United StatesThe area is full of farms and plantations. So lots of flies during the day. If that bothers you, stay inside, keep moving when outside, and take your hot baths in the evening. Most people are there for the epic volcano trek. Which is best done before sunrise. The flies are asleep then! :-)
Lovely little hidden gem, nestled in the rich farm lands of Lake Batur, in the mighty Batur caldera, at the base of Mt. Batur. Cozy, comfortable rooms, all with private hot spring fed pools. Great wifi, yummy breakfast, and a super nice staff. We did the trek, and it was grueling, but well worth it! Also, lots of great restos and warungs, within walking distance. As well as mini marts, and gas stations.

NetherlandsWe spend two nights here with these fantastic people. If we could we would stay longer. It was a stay full of conviviality, love and wisdom. It is a beautiful experience that we will never forget with the time we spent with these warm and loving people. The house is beautiful and clean. You have your own hot spring on your doorstep which is really fantastic. In the evening they light a cozy campfire. When we were there they were playing guitar. It was a good vibe. They really do everything for you and nothing is too much to ask. We miss them already!
