Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had to book and pay for 2 rooms because a spare mattress wasn't available for our young child. We there left one room vacant and carried the large main mattress (heavy!) to the other room and slept in the same room anyway, but with far less space. One of the rooms had noisy air conditioning so we struggled to sleep, before switching rooms again! Also, the shower constantly dripped - which meant that, with the drain on the opposite side of the bathroom, the bathroom floor was always wet. Always wet feet even to go to toilet. Also, no hot water in any rooms. There were beer bottles outside the rooms throughout our stay, they were never picked up by the staff. There are wild dogs around the property, thankfully they were not intimidating, but they can make a noise at night.
Close to beach. Affordable. Room size ok.

Czech RepublicIt must have been a fantastic hotel when it was built, just like a paradise, with cosy rooms and nice bathrooms, crowned by a great bar on the roof with romantic bowers overlooking the beautiful Balangan Cliff and the beach nearby… However, little care was paid to the maintenance in the following years, so nowadays the rooms are a bit dingy, bathrooms smelly with rusty metal plates on the door… The roof-top bar and bowers are in ruins now, broken planks with rusty nails everywhere, there is nowhere to sit down there on the roof now to watch romantic sunsets. Showers are with cold water only, and quite often even without tap water at all – one evening we were just supplied with plastic buckets with cold water…
location is perfect, not far from the airport, and very close to fantastic Balangan Cliff and the beach nearby

United KingdomThere was a rat in the room, the water ran brown and dirty at times & stopped running completely other times. The air con in one of our rooms was awful, it barely worked and the room was stuffy and hot the whole stay. The location is very far away from everything else except Balangan Beach.
Very close to Balangan beach.

GermanyThe staff was extremely unfriendly, it was extreme loud. The scooter were driving like it was a main road and then the dogs won’t shout out until sometimes 4 am. The room was ok but was pricey for the facilities. The internet sucked. Needed to connect only in the corredor. And no phone connection. Was nothing to hang the wet clothes. The bath was always wet like a pool, and drop the entire night. Cleaning was not the best. There is no breakfast spot around.
That was 3 feet from the beach. It was very good located and you save to pay the beach fee.

GermanyThere was mould around the edges, the room smelled and the bathroom was not clean and in a really bad condition. They only had cold water, so no warm shower in the evening. The bed covers did not seem washed.
The only good thing about the property is the price. The rest was a bit rough.

Balangan is by far my favorite beach/area in Bali, there is nothing better and this is the closest hotel to the beach. It’s listed as a hostel but you get your own room and have no shared facilities which is epic

New ZealandThe shower was laughable but you get what you pay for. Friends room didn't lock so had to keep his stuff in my room and his AC was not great at all.
At the top of the stairs to the beach and has a great sunset viewing point. My AC was awesome, my friends didn't even seem like it was on. You're paying to be close to the beach and that's it.

United StatesThe building is a little worn out which is why the prices are low.
Location is excellent since it is about 50 steps to the beach. The rooms are ample and clean with excellent wifi and AC. Once you are on the North end of the beach you can have your pick of food and surf schools. Aslo it's just above a convenience store for cold drinks, water, etc
